Greetings everyone,
I originally posted here as a newbie back in Jan...had the pacemaker installed on the 17th...got some good feedback, and was adjusting fine until I became a member of the 1% club.
Doctors always tell you that there is always that 1% chance of something going wrong...well, it's no fun being a 1% member, I'll tell yah..
Almost 3 weeks to the day from having the pm installed, I had severe chest pains and its back to the hospital. Echocardiogram reveals bloo...

When I was 51 I started to develop palpitations and dizziness. I was diagnosed with 3rd degree heart block and fitted with a pacemaker. Have felt fine since.
I had no previous heart trouble, no underlying issues anyone could find...even though the literature attributes heart block to these causes.
Anyone else have an outif the lue case of 3rd degree heart block?

I am told that I have a complete heart block and need to have a pacemaker. Strange part is I did not really have any symptoms. Occassionaly a lightheaded dizzy spell about once every couple of months. I was going through some tests for some stomach issues. Before they ever started the tests drs. kept commenting on how low my heart rate was (in the mid 40's) which was pretty normal for me most of the time. While under for the tests heart rate aparently dropped in the 30s and they noticed irre...

First let me thank Nancy,Mtulau,Grateful Heart,Angrysparrow and Daisy for helping me prior to my surgery with all of your great ideas. I thought of you all on March 4th as I received my implant and was so much calmer because of you. Things are going well and I can't explain how happy I am to have a pulse rate in the 70's after ten years of 60's and below with numerous PVCs. I am sore of course however it seems a small price to pay. My biggest mistake so far was to reach my left arm up out of hab...

Hi, I'm new to the pacemaker club. I'm 26 and I have a biotronik evia dr-t. This is my second pacemaker, I've had problems with the placement and the leads moving around. Apparently I had a reaction to the material of the sutures that were used to anchor it down? , the pacemaker itself is extremely uncomfortable and moves into my armpit when i attempt to lift my arm. I basically have no range of motion in that arm, i cant lift it higher than chest level. every time i lean over, it feels almost...

I was shopping the other day and received an "electric shock" from the metal around one of the refridgeraters..it was quite a zap as my finger realized it for quite some time.. but I also had quite a jolt (as I believed) through my pacemaker.. It thumped so hard and I felt quite a strange feeling in my chest and thoat for about 30 seconds.
Anyone else had this experience?

Six years ago ,some really clever people, headed by Mr Richard Firmin sawed my breast-bone down the middle,..dragged my chest apart and , having stopped my heart,..put in a shiny new Aortic Valve.
For them, this is daily work...
For me this was a journey into the abyss..
Six months after 7-3-7 ..I did my first Half Marathon..
Thank you Mr Firmin

I am constantly amazed by your attitude. Like me, you evidently get palpitations and racing heart and I assume yours is from Afib. Wrong assumption? But you seem to have it so under control. How did you get from where I am, a wreck, to where you are. Hope you have an answer or advice.
Happy Anniversary to me!

Good evening from Duluth, GA,
I had my 1st year check up today and all is well! It took 9 months for me to really begin to feel good and the last 3 have been quite wonderful. This was the most serious medical event of my life. I know for sure that my heart is safe and will continue to beat at the average rate of 60 beats. My upper chamber is supported 88% of the time and my lower is only 1% - at this rate, it'll be 12 years for the next battery - so cool.
My official ann...

I been having a few bad days along with having my hickman changed out last Monday. It was pluged up. Still don't know if it had a infection in it yet. Maybe I will get an answer today. Problem now it that this one will not draw back which leads to pluging up fast.
Overall, I'm still hanging in there. Health insurance is still eating at me big time. I will be going on Medicare come May 1st. I have talked to a couple companys that sell heath insurance along with medicare. What is really...

I just found this site about an hour ago and love it. Seems full of great info and wonderful people. I imagine I will be writing more as I feel more comfortable. A brief history of my situation: June 2012 told I have an Aortic Root Aneurysm. Dec 3rd 2012 had open heart surgery and a bunch of complications. 1. Died twice 2. Had to be opened up again to stop bleeding from my right coronary artery 3. Had my phrenic nerve severed so now can't breath very well. 4. Woke up with a PM wondering what...

Even though I left college for health reasons, the universe isn't letting me sit quietly (and quite frankly, it isn't my style)! Here are some of the things going on:
1) I have a blog! Go check it out at www.thetachylife.blogspot.com (pretty, pretty please!)
2) I am now training to become a Healthcare Documentation Specialist online, which would enable me to find a great paying job online ( a very POTS-friendly career!)
3) Yesterday, during an episode of "skippin...

I had a heart cath done yesterday as part of the testing for the transplant list. The procedure itself was a breeze but didnt get any good news. I of course didnt expect to either. My cardio said my heart is even worse than he expected.
Next step, I have my first appt next Wednesday at the Transplant Clinic. I'll let you all know how that goes next week.

Hello my friends.
I have been told that my pm battery is wearing down, now have to go every 3 months for check ups. Sunday night coming down stairs, dont know what happened but I fell down stairs and broke my foot, now in plaster of paris.
About 4 hours previous to this I was outside and for some unknown reason i stumbled and fell flat on my face. I am not sure if this is in relation to my battery wearing down.
Not mentioned this at the hospital as was not my usual hospital.

Hello, Pacemaker Club community. I am a new member. I decided to join because what I really am looking for is support and I suppose communicating with others who I can relate to.
In 2009, I was told that I had just survived what was believed to be viral myocarditis. It involves a virus attacking the heart. I was only 19 at the time and had just had a baby about three months before. I thought I had a bad case of the flu, but it turned out to be more. My sickness became worse and I had...

I had my P/M implanted on 2/14/13. I'm 57 and before I had the P/M, I played softball and worked out three days a week. I'm not familiar with the P/M except I was told that it would work as "On Demand". I'm reading about "Rate Response" and wondering if this is two different functions that the P/M does? One day before I had the P/M put in, I did a stress test and passed with flying colors. No problem with my heart rate going up. The problem is that my heart rate was going down, and that is the r...

I'm about to visit several factories in China for work that have several robotic welders on site. Do I need to concerned about any interference with my PM? Just want to plan accordingly. Thanks in advance,
Abelle
