Several men are in the locker room of a golf club. A cellular phone on a bench rings and a man engages the hands-free speaker function and begins to talk. Everyone else in the room stops to listen.

I'm 57 years old and on 2/14/13 had to have a P/M put in. My cardiologist and I have been watching this for two years and all the EKG's I had said I was not ready for a P/M. I did pass out last April and one year before that because my heart rate dropped. On 2/14/13 my heart rate dropped to 38 but my BP stayed normal. I did not pass out this time. As a matter of fact, the emergency room doctor and the four cardiologist in my doctor's practice could not believe that my BP stayed normal with a hea...

Why do they just put in a single lead? Is it because of AV node block or A-fib? Just wondering as I have a single lead to the ventricle. aldeer

A woman goes to the Doctor, worried about her husband's temper.
The Doctor asks: "What's the problem?"
The woman says: "Doctor, I don't know what to do. Every day my husband seems to lose his temper for no reason. It scares me."
The Doctor says: "I have a cure for that. When it seems that your husband is getting angry, just take a glass of water and start swishing it in your mouth. Just swish and swish but don't swallow it until he either leaves the room or ca...

85 years old, single lead to ventricle, complete AV block, Afib....Lots of SOB last couple of months. Could it be related to change in setting a couple of months ago ? I asked what change was for and told that it would make it more "sensitive". The cardiologist had asked for it. My high rate episodes have not been more than once every 6 months and very short. Thanks for any suggestions..

My pacemaker stayed at the rate setting for two years after I received it. At that time I needed an MRI but couldn't have it due to my Pacemaker so they did a CT scan instead.. Since then ffor 8 months I have had Atrial Fiberlation full time with a heart rate from 85 to 127. Could the CT scan be responcible for ths change in heart rate. Thanks for any help I might receive.

In a dark and hazy room, peering into a crystal ball, the Mystic delivered grave news: "There's no easy way to tell you this, so I'll just be blunt. Prepare yourself to be a widow. Your husband will die a violent and horrible death this year."
Visibly shaken, the wife stared at the woman's lined face, then at the single flickering candle, then down at her hands.
She took a few deep breaths to compose herself - and to stop her mind racing. She simply...

Hi All,
Last weekend had help someone who had passed out. No pulse no breathing etc but we got her going, thank goodness. However, it got me wondering can someone with a pacemaker have one of these portable defibrillators used on them in such a situation??
Seems obvious, but I haven't got a clue.

My 31 year old son has a PM (5 years ago) and after a lethal arrythmia in 2012 now has a ICD inplant. He is no longer able to work as a carpenter/home renovator and has been in out of hospital 3-4 times each year for further ablations for the past 6 years, surgically repostioning of pacemaker and wires that have come through the skin due to the physical job. He is thinking about taking a course for using heavy equipment and possibly driving a small bobcat or forklift - but I question all the vib...

after the pacemaker but I haven't. Don't know what the problem is but I have been feeling rotten during the day, unable to sleep at night because of my palpitations. I feel that it can't be due to PM but I know that in the two and a half months since implant, there have only been four or five days when I felt as good as I used to. Tech recently raised the day rate to 60 when quiet. 80 when doing household chores and 120 on rate reponse. My only exercise is walking a half hour a day and climbing...

Hello every one, Still above the dirt... 2 wire pm still doing a good job. My question short and brief. Does coffee wake you up.
I do not even seem to be effected by coffee. And another question. They still have my pm set st 80 fixed after 2 years. Any one else in this same ride?.

In fact after the final "tweaks" of my pacemaker programming at the one year check up it is working so well that I forget I have it.
