Hey y'all! Hope everyone is well! Boy do I have some things to catch up on...
1) I have left school for now because of my POTS.
I passed out in a biology lab while taking notes and the professor thought I was sleeping! When I didn't respond to my partner's poking, he called an ambulance. When I came around, he and another student put me down on the floor. The EMTs finally arrived, but every time they moved me, my heart rate skyrocketed. I finally got to the hospital (first ambul...

Hello. Been a while since I've been on here but for those that don't know, I've had a PM since a baby. I was born with a congenital heart block and now I'm finding out how much more of an impact it has had to my body. It's amazing how interwoven the human body is and how it adapts to changes in the structure. Case in point... Found out after my last replacement surgery (2008ish) that in addition to having the congenital heart block I was born without my internal iliac vein. However, my bod...

A road tunnel in Norway has been closed - by a lorry-load of burning cheese.
About 27 tonnes of caramelised brown goat cheese - a delicacy known as Brunost - caught light as it was being driven through the Brattli Tunnel at Tysfjord, northern Norway, last week.
The fire raged for five days and smouldering toxic gases were slowing the recovery operation, officials said.
The tunnel - which is said to be badly damaged - is likely to remain closed for several weeks,...

Surgeons at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center implanted the first brain pacemaker to treat Alzheimers last October, according to a university news release. Surgeons operated on Kathy Sanford, who became the first Alzheimers patient in the U.S. to have a pacemaker implanted in her brain.
Sanford is the first of as many as 10 patients who will be signed up for a study at Wexner Medical Center to decide if using a brain pacemaker can better cognitive and behavioral funct...

Hi all... Does anyone else have pain in the center of your chest after swallowing.. This started about 3 days ago.. I,ve looked it up and most say it could be acid reflux.. Or esophageal problems.. I had a sore throat.. That has stopped now every time I swallow or take in a deep breath pain in the center of my chest.. Just asking I really don't think it's anything major...

MY TEST YESTERDAY SHOWS THAT MY PACE MAKER SEEMS TO BE DOING ALMOST ALL OF THE WORK. THE LOW PERCENTAGE OF TIME THAT IT'S DOING THE BEATING IS 76.3% AND THE HIGH IS 90.5%. IT WAS PUT IN DURING AN EMERGENCY OPERATION ON DEC 13TH AT CLEVELAND CLINIC - FLORIDA. IS THERE ANY POSSIBILITY THAT MY HEART WILL ONCE AGAIN START BEATING MORE ON IT'S OWN, OR IS IT A DONE DEAL? I NEVER THOUGHT I WOULD EVER HAVE A PACEMAKER. I'M 68, AND ALL OF A SUDDEN MY RATE DROPPED FROM 84-100 DOWN TO A HIGH OF 42 AND MOST...

Ok so here is what happened while I was getting my pacemaker installed.
The sedation used is called conscious sedation because they can talk to you during surgery but you never remember anything. Apparently I was on the table but must have been a little light on the sedation portion as I overheard the doctor having trouble saying the word Sheath. He told me after surgery that I woke up enough to say Can you say that in mixed company? He said he asked the others in the operating r...

l hate long sleeve jumpers but with the weather as it is l NEED long sleeve jumpers.
l hate them because they get in the way, but since having my PM l really detest them, why? because when l go to pull the damn sleeves up (usually to wash-up or something equally exciting) l somehow lose grip & end up punching myself in the chest & always on my PM site, OUCH!!!
lt happened yesterday & l now have a bruise (again) right on the edge of my PM. Do you think l should be "excused" from washing...

So just watched the first episode of the new series the following. Kevin bacon is the lead actor and it was said he has a pacemaker. Guess the villan stabbed him in his heart and messed up his electrical system. They made a few references to his heart throughout the show. Interesting. Have to see if they ever show a fake pm scar.

Hi,
I am 41 years old and have just been told that I need a pacemaker. I am not handling this news very well at all. I consider myself to be fit. I run every other day for a total of 20 miles a week, and usually squeeze in around another 20 miles of cycling. I weigh about 150lbs and am 5ft 8in tall, so not overweight. I have exercised all my life.
For the past 18 months or so, I noticed that I occasionally had an irregular heartbeat. My resting rate is around 60 bpm during...

I have a 31-year old brother who is diagnosed with a 3rd degree complete heart block. He normally is fit and healthy active fella. He has had no symptoms of his condition at all. On Friday he went to register to a GP and the nurse realised how slow pulse he had during an asessment. he was then seen by the doctor at the GP and was immediately informed that he needed to wait for the ambulance to be taken to the Kings Hospital. He was not allowed to even go toilet. For half a day e was been assesse...

Well hello everyone! Hi especially to Angel1 :) I have not gone off the grid, I'm just still living in Kansas lol. Thank you Angel1 for asking about me.

My heart seems to doing allright and the wireless pacemaker is working well. We went to Mexico the first week...

Hi, just found this site after coming home after a Pocket/Lead revison of my ICD. I am a 53 yr old woman living in Hampshire in the UK. This Medtronic ICD was fitted 11/01/20012 following an unexplained Cardiac Arrest on 27/12/2011 following a minor car accident when I was clinically dead for 15mins and given intensive CPR by a passing Neuorologist who witnessed my collapse, my heart had to be shocked twice to get it beating normally again. I was in a Coma in ITU for several days, my body was co...

Hi
