Hi all, I'm 8 weeks post op. I got my ICD put in on 11/20/2012. I'm currently a kinesiology student in my junior year looking to apply to physical therapy schools within the next year. Does anyone know if there are any scholarship opportunities for people with implants? I've looked around a bit but haven't found anything.
For what it's worth, I'm in the US, VA specifically.

Hi all, I just read shoes post below and saw where he mentioned wenkebach. About a month ago, I noticed that after a rather hard push while biking, I felt winded and very tired. I had also started training to run a 10k in the spring and noticed the same thing after a long run on the treadmill. I called Medtronic customer service and had a chat with a very helpful rep who told me that we who pace 100% and are active, can experience "winkebach" syndrome when our HR exceeds the pacers upper limit (...

A woman takes a lover home during the day, while her husband is at work.
Her 9-year old son comes home unexpectedly, sees them, and hides in the bedroom closet.
Then the woman's husband also comes home. She puts her lover in the closet, not realizing that the little boy is in there already.
The little boy says, 'Dark in here.'
The man says, 'Yes, it is.'
Boy - 'I have a golf ball.'
Man -'That's nice.'
Boy - 'Want to buy...

My 20 year old daughter had a pacer placed in October for Vasovagal Syncope. She also has Dysautonomia. If you could take a few minutes to read the following and pass it along to groups you may belong to I would be appreciative. We would like to prevent others from going through the long struggle for proper treatment.
"My cardiologist is interested in starting a dysautonomia clinic monthly or bi-monthly in Toledo, Ohio as per the interest that would be generated. Please message me per...

I received an email last night at 11PM, EST. stating that I received a pm from this website. When I logged on today, there was no message so probably a glitch again.
If you like you can try resending it so I can respond. Have a great day all!

I'm due my first check since implant on 10 December next week. I am preparing my list of questions!! I read a lot on the site about remote monitoring via landline and, occasionally, by mobile [cell] phone. But does anyone in Britain have remote monitoring by any method?
It has to be possible but I can't recall anyone from this side of the pond mentioning it. But it'd be so useful, apart from anything else it would save me spending hours looking for a parking space - parking at hospit...

Hi Everyone,
I had every intention several weeks ago (and even wrote about it on here) about getting back on here full time - but I couldn't figure out for the life of me why I was feeling sooooooooo badly...now I know....
I was just diagnosed with kidney cancer.
My new family doctor, (who I had just met with only twice in December), had a hunch and got right on it. - I was having my ultrasound on December 24th, then that lead to a CT Scan on January 3rd which...

Last time I posted I was days away from becoming battery operated. Tests showed severe drops in heart rate and skips up to 3 seconds. I was feeling worn out most of the time and had frequent "melt downs" when I had to drop and sleep. Dr. ordered one more 2wk halter monitor to satisfy insurance. It came back neg. Puzzled he ordered a 4wk monitor. Nothing. He did a stress test and ultra sound...nothing. He can't say what happened to my wenkiebach but he gave me a clean bill of health with no restr...

Good morning-
I was happy to see there is a 'club' for pacemaker patients.
I have browsed through the site. I am hoping someone could help me with a decision I have to make.
I am 44 years old and had my PM implanted in 2010 because my HR was around 20ish. When it was first implanted, my PM was used around 80% of the time. Then it was used less and less every time I had to check. Last time was 6 months ago and it was used 13% of the time which I have to assume was when I was sl...

Belated new year wishes to you all
Just a quick question, could my laptop be interfering with my pm?
Haven't used my laptop for a long time until recently and I admit its quite old and on its way out as the fan is making an awful noise and getting hot! I have been using it on a lap tray on my lap and feel as if my heart is missing beats and racing a bit but I'm not sure that its related to the laptop? Thanks Anita

I had a Sinus Node Modification in September. Since then I lost my insurance and picked up a different company which means I had to switch my doctors. I go to see my new Electrophysiologist tomorrow. I am just wondering what are the questions I should be most concerned about and what is super important to inform him? I have had flutters and times when my heart rate is up over 100 while laying down but it goes away and I feel great still. Is this something that I should still tell him? is this co...

So, after 3 years of going back and forth, tweaking and tuning the PM, my Cardiologist finally turned my PM off.
Reality is, I was pacing randomly, the last time I watched on the screen my HB go from 40 to 120, as per the doctor, both the leads to the upper and lower chambers are fractured and since there is no resolution to it, other than removing, which he thinks is more risk that its worth and since I am using the PM less than 1%, I am better off leaving it in and turning it off.

Hi I have had a pm for about 15 years I have only ever used it 20% of the time my tech now tells me I am using it 90% of the time insnt that a big jump ? Here in England we don't get the followup you seem to get over their I am unlikely to see my specialist until I need a new pm (5 years away) so I have no one to ask my local doctor just told me not to worry as long as the pm is working I would be fine but that's not the point I want to know is my heat getting worse and if so why

I feel so blessed to have this little gem implanted in me. When I think of the alternative it is quite overwhelming sometimes.
