l travelled to S Africa 3mths ago & my insurance wasn't that much dearer than my other half's. l have other heart problems apart from the one that my PM looks after & l was suprised (pleasantly) at how much l paid. My doctor did say to make sure l mentioned ALL my pre -existing medical conditions & said the fact l have a PM & am on warfarin is a positive!!!
By the way the company l used was "Good to go insurance" but shop around you may do better. Dont let the fact you have a PM put you off travelling l went on 9 flights within the month l was away with no problems at all.
Happy hols !!!

Am afraid you will have to declare it to the insurance company overwise if you have a medical problem the company wont touch you!!!

Hi Maureen Your best source of information is the consumer magazine "Which" . If you don't subscribe to it you can normally see back copies in your local library.
The Dec 2011 edition had a very useful article on " Travel Insurance for people with pre-existing medical conditions "
At the time two companies seemed to come out well :-
i) Travel Insurance Medical and ii) Holiday Safe
I'm sure you will get contact details if you Google them
They found a 900 % difference in price between the cheapest and dearest companies so it is worth shopping around.
Yes, you should tell them about your PM and when it was installed. Most companies charge a premium if you have had any op within the previous 12 months
Best of luck
Ian
