I am a first time poster and I very pleased to find such a helpful site. I have had a dual unit medtronic defibrillator since September 2002. I look forward to sharing some of my experiences with others, particularly those new to the procedure. For now I need to find out if others are having the same problems as I am.
My experience with the defibrillator has genearlly been very positive after I got over some very long and painful left arm and chest pain issues post surgery (6 mon...

Hi everybody,
I just had an ICD implanted for the first time last week. I heard about this site and thought it would be nice to be in touch with folks with similar experiences. So far my chest is a little achey from getting a piece of technology lodged in it but apart from that I'm feeling good and looking forward to worrying a little less about my rebellious heart giving me trouble at inoportune times. I just wanted to say hi to everybody. So.."Hi!"
Cheers-
Cory

Hello to all and I hope your pacemakers are doing their job. I have a Kappa 700DR and I've never had a problem with this model. I know that your putting this information about lawsuit and defective pacemakers to inform others and I'm sure it's for a good cause, but you have to keep in mind that there are a lot of young pacers that just received their pacemakers. Many of them are pretty upset by the fact of having a pacemaker implanted. Their anxiety level must be really high and they probab...
told i need a pacemaker - update
Well I got my records today from my cardiologist and had plans to send them to the Cleveland clinic but that was stopped when I saw another doctor who recommended an exceptional EP doctor in my area.
He also told me that he doesn't believe he would recommend anything different since after looking at my records further(for the holter monitor) we found out that I had bouts of 2nd degree "high grade" av block between 2am and 6am...nothing at all showed during the day. Those were the 3 s...
Told I need a pacemaker
Good day to all...this is my first posting and is going to be tough as I am shedding tears as I write this because I cannot wrap my head around the fact that I am a 36 year old male, in great physical condition, extremely active and have just been told I need a pacemaker because my heart rate droped to 20 beats per minute at night( Holter showed some times of 3 seconds between beats).
What I just cant understand is that during the daytime and during phisical activity everything is co...

Hello my friends,
I hope your okay and living a better life then me. I miss all of you in here. I'm thanking God for our brothers for stepping up to the plate and sharing their feelings. I hope all men respond not only to the women but also to their brothers in here. I just got out of the hospital and I've had all testes done. I'm not having a heart attack but they can't figure out what's going on with my symptoms. I wish I was a millionaire so I can bribe them to find a pro...
how do you deal with shoulder seat belt irritation
I would appreciate hearing from those who have solved the shoulder seat belt problem. Who can I go to to have the shoulder strap moved so that it does not hit the site. Also, the wires of my pacemaker got tangled and push my skin out about 1/4 of an inch which is very sensitive and uncomfortable. Has anyone dealt with this kind of problem? Thank you. Shelly
a setback
Hello all,
I got my dual chamber medtronic on demand pm on 3/19/07. I had a tough few days then 11 really good days. I went back to work and on the second day I had an anxiety attack(I guess thats what it was) on the drive home. I had put in a 15 hour day(behind a desk) and drank lots of caffein that night. I felt good and not tired when I left. But this panic just came out of nowhere. I've taken 2 days off work and had the pm checked. It's fine and my heart is fine. It seems like i...

I'm writing to each and everyone of you out there. I'm feeling a bit upset that I can't answer all the problems on this site. I know that I'm not supposed to give answers to everyone. That's why we all have to pitch in and give a cheer or wipe away someone's tear. We are here to help one another and I see so many people will read postings but they won't respond. I know that we all don't have the same conditions or maybe we haven't experience certain problems. With so many people on this si...

Anxiety
Dear All
I have had my pacemaker now since December 04 and I am still having problems. just last weekend I was rushed into the A&E with a rate at 170bpm I was told my blood pressure could not cope with such a high heart rate? I have yet again been referred to the heart hospital on Monday for more tests. my symptoms are still the same as before the pacemaker was fitted, except I no longer fall unconscious, which I know is a massive improvement. But I still have palpation's and feeling light...
Anyone with depression before pm?
I've suffered from depression most of my life, and have been on antidepressants for many years, but have never had a complete remission. I guess I was hoping that getting a pm would help, since my physical health would improve, and maybe alleviate some of the depression. (I've been sick for nearly 3 years, dx with fibromyalgia, and fatigue that had been increasing in intensity over the past year. So my depression had really been getting worse.)
It's been 3 weeks since getting my pm, Medt...

My Friend,
I'm writing to tell you that you're not alone. We must not give up hope. We must stand in this fight together. I'm not going to leave this earth until I have move these mountains that stand before me. I want to ask each and everyone of you to stand in faith and pray for others. Some times we go through the storms and our boat of hardship tends to be sinking. Just when you think life is going to end, remember that Jesus is the Son of Man and His image He has not fo...

Your anxiety is normal. It takes some of us a little time to adjust to the new friend. As much as they love you, family and friends without a device just cannot understand the adjustment we go through. That is why this site is so valuable.
