Going to see my electrophysiologist tomorrow for the first time since my last ablation (my fifth) on Jan 25. I was in sinus rythmn when I left but based on my last PM check 2 months later I went back into afib after 2 weeks. I have had a PM for 17 years and I am 100% dependant. I have had cronic afib for 3 of the last 5 years. After my fourth ablation I was in sinus rythmn for 20 months. My cardiologist want to put me on sotalol or amiordirone. I'm pretty sure the eletric guy will want to do an...

Hello, I had a pacemaker inserted for a low heart rate of 35/45 per minute. Since the surgery i have had persistent left arm pain. The pain starts in the upper arm and gets increasely worse in the forearm. I have been back to the doctor, they tested the pacemaker and all is well, but sent me home with pain meds, which i requested and hope for the best. I'm frustrated I'm not feeling better. Has anyone had this problem and how long did it persist if so. Any information would be appreciate...

Hello!
I'm still relatively new to this whole pacemaker business but could do with some advice if anyone can help me. To give you the best understanding I'm going to give you the full story!
I had my first pacemaker fitted in september after doctors discovered I was collapsing due to my heart stopping - cardio-inhibitory vasovagal syndrome is what they called it! All was going fine untill beg of Nov, at that point I started to see one of the edges of box slightly. Rang the hospi...

I joined the PM Club a year ago but since that time have changed email address and IP so have joined again.
I am trying to decide whether to go see a doctor, primary or cardio, for the nodule, which is very sore, that I have below and to the left of my PM, clost but not in my left armpit. I got mine on 5-9-2011 and have lumps and bumps and soreness in the area around the PM. I told my cardiologist that I still had a lot of soreness six months after the surgery. He did not check it but ju...

I had a Medtronic dual lead pacemaker inserted on May 3, 2012, due to issues with my Sinus Node, that was not always creating the electric current to initiate the heart to pump.
Following my surgery, about a week later, a rash started in my lower abdomen and has now spread to my lower back. It’s been almost two weeks with the rash and it does not seem to be getting any better. I have a call into my Cardiologist but would like to know if anyone else has had the same problem. It ma...

I had my first device replaced at the end of January this year. All went well until two weeks ago when a small blister developed on the end of my incision. At first it was clear and after being on antibiotics for ten days it has gotten a little bit smaller but darkened in color inside and has a small red dot in it. The ep said he hasn't seen anything like that before but was tempted to make a tiny slit in it and see what came out but then changed his mind and wanted me to go see a dermatologi...

Hi Everyone,
I went in to get my pacemaker changed and a new atrial lead put in on Tuesday May 8th. I decided to have the old atrial lead extracted instead of leaving it in. This meant that my normal doctor would not be performing the surgery as he does not do extractions. The doctor that does the most lead extractions in the US performed the surgery. I also had a keloid scar and some scarring in the pocket that he cleaned up very nicely. I had some soreness but I also had a litt...

Hi all,
I'm a new guy to the forum and a PM. I had a Medtronic Revo Surescan with dual leads implanted on 5/7/12. Everything seemed fine & pain was easily controlled with Tylenol.
Today 5/17 the bandage was removed, all good. The unit was implanted because of slow HR. They run an EKG & another type of scan unit. The test revealed I developed Atrial Fibrilation in the last couple of days. I was told the recent implant, some swelling & breathing, allergies etc is probably why it happene...

Near fainting just after lunch for no reason I could fathom. Went to the GP She took one look and said it had definately swivwlled and moved. BP 145/100, HR 54 (PM kicks in at 55 and lifts HR to 60, Did the vitals again an hour later, BP 140/95, HR 60 (Pacing). She phoned the cardio and he felt it must be anxiety as her description of the movement didn't sound too severe.
I had such a peaceful, focussed day t...

Hi all,
My first transmittal (with this pacer) shows episodes of v-tach. Is anyone dealing with this? I was on amiodorone years ago but became toxic with it after 9 months. I have not had any episodes for years. I don't want to go with an icd if I don't have too. Is anyone having this and if so what is being done for it? Also, can you feel this while it is happening? I am just having that dizzy feeling like I am about to faint.
My doc wants me to report any problems right away b...

I just looked at a photo of myself 4wks. aglo on the day I returned home from my pacer implant and in the throes of Redmans' Syndrome from vancomyocin. I have come a long way since, but still have days when I am pink and puffy faced (similar to a sunburn or rosacea.) I am not due to visit the surgeon till June 11, but frankly, he seemed clueless to this skin condition. Anyone have allergies to meds or anesthesia, and or, symptoms, last this long? My best to you all with your own problems!

My pacemaker was inserted 9 weeks ago after an aortic valve replacement that did not go well. Went into 3rd degree heart block 3 days after valve replacement and had to have the pacemaker implanted and then had my right lung collapse shortly after. I have been having intense pain in my legs and feet. Start off the day ok but by afternoon the pain settles in. My feet and lower leg's ache so bad that I can barely walk. Had an ultrasound done of the circulation in my legs and was informed it was...

any one have hopeful words for nonagenarians getting PMs?
I have researched everywhere and only one study from 1996 that correlated effects on funcional independant living post PM implants in 80 & 90 yr olds. It wasn't very encouraging.
Anyone have better news?

Hi everyone,
I am new to the club and the PM. Had pm surgery last week to the day. I felt ok for the first couple of days and have been terrible since. I am having the same shortness of breath and eventually chest pain on exertion. The reason for the PM was heart rate was way too fast 180 beats pm and off the chart when walking. I was totally immoble without extreme pain. I am having the same problem and Doc states to give this time. He has me set at 70 pm but I feel this gets much higher w...

I have a situation where my device has been moving and appears to have moved out or through the pocket resting on a rib. Very painful at times, esp. when lying in bed.
Upon exam by two EP's one being the installer EP, I am told that it needs to be extracted, along with the leads and put on my right side.
Problem; Avid hunter a shooter. They tell me the right side placement would preclude these activities. also I am learning through this site that there is a significant risk associated...
