Still recovering

I just looked at a photo of myself 4wks. aglo on the day I returned home from my pacer implant and in the throes of Redmans' Syndrome from vancomyocin. I have come a long way since, but still have days when I am pink and puffy faced (similar to a sunburn or rosacea.) I am not due to visit the surgeon till June 11, but frankly, he seemed clueless to this skin condition. Anyone have allergies to meds or anesthesia, and or, symptoms, last this long? My best to you all with your own problems!

I had the same reaction in the hospital to vancomyocin (administered IV). They gave me some IV Benadryl and some other drug IV to counteract it and it went away within a day. They told me in the hospital this was a normal reaction. My head and face also itched horribly, along with the redness and rash. They said that's normal too, and said it's the best drug for this type of surgery (infection prevention) so they use it even though it has those side effects.

Did you only have it IV in the hospital? Or, did they send you home on it too? You might want to check with your doctor to see what's going on. If you're still taking it, they can switch you to something else. If you haven't taken it since the hospital, you might want to check with your doctor to see why you're still having side effects. It seems weird you're still having problems if you're not taking it any longer and it's been 4 weeks.

Good luck!
