Getting new pacemaker
Hi! I am getting a different pacemaker put in next week, Right now I have a single lead and they are going to put in a double lead so in jan they can go in and ablate my av node. I was at drs office yesterday and my ecg looked horrible (bad enough that they did 2) and I was in junctional tachycardia rhythm. I have tried lots of meds and they did not work. They want to put in a new pacemaker before they ablate so they can make sure the leads are where they need to be. My question is what will my...
shoulder and back pains?
Hey everyone i got my ICD implanted about 2 and a half weeks ago and after a few days on having it in it felt like i had a frozen left shoulder and really felt the urge to stretch it really high. Also, it is really quite sore on this one area on the back of my left shoulder when it's touched, it used to really hurt when i lay down.
Has anyone else experienced this and what did they do to relieve it? Thanks
Having an ICD inserted in a few weeks.
Hello Everyone! While I can understand why I need to have an ICD inserted, I find myself in a state of fear, resolve, and disappointment. When I think about the gravity of it all, it makes me so sad. How do I move forward? Thanks in advance.V.
Needs advice
I have posted on here off and on since I got my pacemaker after 3 ablations. I found out almost 2 months ago that I have accelerated junctional rhythm. It didn't bother me too much at first the the last 6 weeks have been really rough with the palpatations and dizziness. Almost 2 weeks ago my dr put me on multaq, I have been trying to give it time to work but I continue to feel worse every day. Its getting bad enough that whenever I am sitting or laying down and get up my heart starts racing. Yes...

Update
Hi all,
I went back to my ep dr yesterday and once again my pacing percent has went down to 55% which is 3% lower than 2 weeks ago. The accelerated junctional rhythm is continuing to get worse, has became even more active as now it is waking me up in the middle of the night. My dr explained to me that my first 2 ablations they knocked out areas in my sinus node due to IST, after those didn't work I went in for my 3rd ablation which they knocked out an area a little further down from t...
New ICD
Hello all:
I'm new to the ICD world (implanted 3 days ago).
I have a new ICD which is a combination enhanced pacemaker and defibrillator due to VT and a partially successful ablation.
My EP assures me that with the new pacemaker (more enhanced than my previous one), the partially successful ablation and anti-arrhythmia medication I should be able to conduct a normal life with basically no restrictions.
Further, that I should view the defibrillator as a...
Rightward axis?
I have been taking my meds for junctional rhythm for almost 2 weeks and not getting any better. My rhythm seems to be getting worse, I was dizzy from friday night til this morning and then this morning I was having the palpatations for 10 minutes straight at a time. This weeks was really rough for me at work, on friday they did an ekg on me at work (I work in a hospital), I was not having palpatations or dizziness at the time but the ekg showed accelerated junctional rhythm and rightward axis. D...

Walking heart rate
I was just curious what people's heart rate is while walking. Mine seems to go anywhere from the high 90's to 100-110 area.
I also notice my heart rate in the low 100s after I shower.
Is this normal for most of you with ventricular tachycardia?
Toprol XL
My medication was recently raised from 25 mg twice a day to 37.5 mg twice a day because of a recent shock. When I take the higher dose I feel a lot more dizzy while walking and feel almost out of body.
Has anyone else had this happen?
I went back to my normal dose for a while and felt a little better but still dizzy, then had an a-fib episode.
I'm in the process of trying to contact my doctor but it's really hard to get an appointment with him.
I'm sick of not being able...

Junctional Rhythm
Hi all,
First of all I want so send out a special thanks to donr and Janey L, they have helped me so much trying to explain this new junctional arrythemia that I have. After alot of thinking and research I'm going to talk to my dr about doing the av node ablation and getting a duel chamber PM instead of the single atrium one I have now. The dr put me on meds which so far is not helping, if fact I seem to be having more episodes now. I can tell when I have the episodes cause my heart...

Has anyone heard of a icd life vest. I have a icd and have never heard of it before. A friend of mine also has icd, but now the drs. are talking about a life vest because he is in the hospital with a very high fever. Any thoughts?

Hi from NZ,
I have just found this group and wonder has anyone out there with dilated Cardiomyopthy and severe heart failure have had these two devices implanted, and how has their life changed since.
I have just been told I need them both to keep me going. At present I sleep a lot or just rest as have no energy. My meds are no longer working for me after 10 years. I would love to hear from others who may have had the CRT & ICD implanted.
Cheers from a very sunny Aauckland, NZ
Finally some answers!
Finally got home from indy the good news my echo came back good no fluid around the heart and my pacemaker is working good, the bad news is now I have a different kind of arrethmia called junctional rhythem which is when the area in the av node is trying to do the pacing (which is not normal). He is going to try me on meds and see if that helps. He said he doesn't want to go in after it right now cause it would put me in complete heart block and I'm guessing would have to get a different kind of...
Odd EKG
I go back to the dr tomorrow for an echo so hopefully I will get some answers..while I was at work today (I work in a hospital) I wasn't feeling very good so they took my blood pressure and it was 83/52 which is really low for me so they hooked me up to telemetry so they could see what kind of rhythem my heart was doing. It was very odd at times I had a P wave and other times I didn't it also looked like it was trying to do afib (controlled afib) my heart rate was between 60-75. Does anyone have...
Bulk up in the Gym
Hello,
I am fairly new to the community. I had a Medtronics AICD installed in July 2011. I am interested in gaining a decent amount of muscle. Is there any limit to the amount of muscle I can put on? I understand that the AICD is sutured into muscle, is this something I need to be worried about?
Thank you in advance!
