I have a question concerning the relationship if any,
between Pacemakers and Atrial High Rate Episodes?
Background:
For the first 2/1/2 years since my Pacemaker was implanted,
I have had no episodes of Atrial High Incidents.
However, the last two interrogation reports, indicated episodes
of Atrial High Incidents. Most were of very short duration,
under one minuite. Also, they were clustered in one to two
day periods, occurring over s...

I had my St Jude pacemaker put in about 3 weeks ago and everything went well. When I left the Hosiptal my pacemaker was set at 60. After a couple of weeks I went in to get my pacemaker checked and everything looked go. I request that my pacemaker be increased from 60 to 65 because I felt like my energy level was a little low and it made a difference. However it now seems my blood pressure has dropped from 118/74 to as low as 94/65. Im a little worried and again could this be because of the adj...

Going for my first PM checkup Wed. Any suggestions for good questions that I can ask? I don't know if my examiner is a EP or not since this is all new to me. I will be sure to ask that question for sure.

My heart checks out as okay. I had five vessel open heart surgery and there is only one small area that may not get adequate blood. The pacemaker is for brachacardia
You know the feeling when they turn up your pacemaker to see if it works, I seem to get that a good portion of the time. I wonder if the voltage is set too high. Recent changes, I have trouble getting my heartrate over 120 and just had the MV setting turned on.

7/11 Stroke, lost use of left hand and le...

On January 29 of this year I had a av node ablation. Can anyone tell me what the normal settings are for the pacemaker after this type of ablation. Thanks

Hi, I've just joined, although I was given the pacemaker 2 years ago. I read a lot of information on this site then and I'm really grateful to everyone who has described their experiences which I found reassuring.
I'm writing now because I have been having problems for about the last 10 days. Up until then I was feeling very healthy.
I started feeling light headed, very tired, not able to focus and slow in my thoughts. Also I could feel my heart beating with some strong irregular beats...

Hello everyone,
I wanted to update, all who are interested, about some recent changes my Cardio/EP made to my PM During my recent checkup and PM check I heard from both the Medtronic Rep and my Cardio that my PM is functioning fine. To that I responding " I am glad my PM is functioning well but I am not" and I added that I am disappointed in my lack of ability to function well and once again I added that I have been complaining of weakness, shortness of breath and extreme fatigue. I know th...

I had a pacemeker installed on February 18. At first checkup on February 28 I was told by nurse that my pacemaker was working fine. There is only one, on demand setting which is for it to activate if my beat goes below 40 per minute. In 11 days the pacemeaker did not have to work.
The next appointment is in 3 months but I was told to resume golf and excercising in 2 months.
Should I not have an appointment in 2 months and with the ok then resme golf and excercising?
Thank y...

I am soooo confused with the pacemaker report. And after searching for answers online, I'm even MORE confused! Hoping someone can help interpret what all this means.
At the clinic today they made several adjustments.
To catch you up on me and my trials/woes: I've been having problems with fatigue/lightheaded since my implant 2 years ago. After a year of trying to correct it, I gave up and stopped seeing my EP- just sent in my quarterly downloads. With the new year I decided...

I had an emergency Medtronics PM double lead, implanted Christmas Eve. I'm a very active 55 y/o Wife, Mother and Grandmother. No heart disease, just electrical conduction issues. In these past two months, I have been tweeked probably 4 times including yesterday.
I am grateful for the PM; it saved my life. But I just haven't felt totally well ever since. Once they got my Afib under control with a BB, and after being treated for a blood clot, I thought I'd be home free. Wouldn't t...

Some newbie thoughts:
If my pacemaker is set at 80bpm and has not varied from this so far until this morning, then when I used my blood pressure cuff, the reading is 86 bpm, what then are the permissible tolerance variations? I know that when they ablate the AV node they will set it lower, but I just wondered how you can tell the pacemaker is working properly....
PS Can a pacemaker stop without warning and would this be fatal after AV node ablation? Sorry if these are in...

Hello all,
I have had my pacemaker for nearly 5 weeks, feeling really well. Am going for first check with Cardioogist and tech on Thursday. Am not sure what yo ask apart from 'how's it going?'
So any tips on what I need to know and ask would be helpful.
Thanks

I've scrolled thru a ton of posts, hoping to find one that covers my situation, but couldn't find one. So here goes:
I had a heart attack in 2004- after a 5K- in which I placed 2nd btw. Waited three days and two more episodes before going to the doctor, b/c that's how deep my denial was. Had total occlusion of RCA. Nothing could be done since I had waited, except to go on meds and learn to live with damaged heart muscle. (I was 44 and in awesome shape).
Fast forward to 2007 when...
Does Pacemaker Record Activity

Having just had a pacemaker, I think I can feel and hear it working most nights, in that I have a pulse tinnitus where I can clearly hear my heartbeats (both annoying and sometimes alarming).
When I attend the clinic and they give me checkups on it, does the pacemaker record the demand upon it, ie how often it is being made to work and under what circumstances? I am jotting down a lot of questions for my next visit to both cardiologist and clinic, but this is the foremost one.

I had a ICD implanted 01/30/14. The fellow who did the operation an EP is not with my heart doctor that I used in the ER. I went to that doctor a week ago to have my clips removed and they gave me a EKG. Then said come back on 03/26/14 for my next appointment. I called them wednesday to make sure someone would be there to check my device. After waiting a bit they said yes that someone would be there. Meanwhile I get this letter today from the EP folks saying that I need to come in so as to che...

Hello fellow pacers
I just had my annual check up yesterday, in which context I raised the issue of poor circulation and concomitant issues such as chilblains and edema in one foot. I asked if increasing my beats per minute from 50 might help address these issues.
The doctor while doubtful, said it was worth a try and increased my bpm to 60.
Interestingly, the adjustment seemed to alleviate the edema ( but we shall see) and as it is still summer in Oz, it's too early to tell if c...

I wouldn't be alive if it wasn't for pacemakers. I've had mine for 35+ years. I was fainting all of the time and had flat-lined also. I feel very blessed to live in this time of technology.
