Hi all:
I am about 1,000 miles away from my cardiologist and also my pacemaker monitor. While doing laundry outside at our cottage. I changed the plug from the dryer to the washer. My fingers were wet and I was barefoot (hey it's a cottage) and I got a shock. I have monitored my heart and seem to be fine.. I have a pacemaker to correct my very low and skipping heartbeats.. My question is??? am I taking this all too lightly??

Hi--my husband, who had bypass surgery in '89 and stents since, presented (pretty precipitously) with lightheadedness and shortness of breath; went to ER to find that his heart rate was consistently in the 40s (due, in part, to cardiac/BP meds to keep his rate down in the 50s anyway--he also has had afib). Decision was made to get a pacemaker, which he got nearly 2 wks. ago. Nothing changed. He went back, per Dr.'s instructions, to ER a couple of days ago--they did echocardiogram which was un...

Ok, this is my 1st posting. A little scared right now. Just had my CRT-D implanted on 7/9/13. Supposed to return to work on 8/19. But last week or so, have had some odd symptoms. I have been searching online for them to no avail. Until now that is. Many, but not all, of my symptoms appear to fit SVC. My cardiologist told me that he had a very difficult time getting the leads in. And now, everything I read about SVC, I'm concerned he may have injured my vein somehow. The day after I was released...

Good Morning,
I had a Medtronic Defib implanted in 2009. Today (Sunday) I started getting vibrations about three inches under my device. I am feeling well. I called my doctor and was told to come to the office tomorrow AM unless I am not feeling well.
Is this vibration normal? There is no sound or beeping.
Thanx, Lenn

Anyone have any experience with using a chainsaw with a Pacemaker? I had a St Jude 1110 implanted June 19th, 2013. I'm fully recovered, feeling stronger each day and a very active gardener and home project doer. Problem..... I have several Red Oak trees that have died due to Hypoxylon Canker resulting from the East Texas drought. I need to cut them down before the next Hurricane hits and they fall on my house. I (we) find $500/tree for a tree professional kind of steep for our retirement budget....

I just had my PM implanted on 7/29! I realize I am still in recovery stage, but for last couple days I have woke up in such severe pain in the left side of neck, shoulder, and down thru arm to elbow. The PM was implanted in left chest. This morning the pain was so bad, that I was bawling and about to be sick to stomach when husband came in from work. He threatened me with ER, I took some meds, and sent him to bed. What I want to know...is this kind of pain "normal"? Is it due to not being...

When they put in my PM it the voltage needed was .7v. Then about 3 weeks later I felt LOUSY. My heart rate was very low so they up my set point from 65 to 70 and my voltage need had increased to 1.2v (they said not unusual). Now in less than 3 weeks...again felt LOUSY..heart rate low...now my voltage need was 3.3. The rep from Boston Scientific and the cardiologist admitted me to open me back up and see if the wires needed moving. Before they did that they took x-rays and came back with the inte...

I'm now him a high dose antibiotics and have to go back if it gets redder or i start to feel more unwell. She made an adjustment on the pm that works with t...

My mom developed a pain down her left arm and in her collar bone and neck yesterday (two days after having her pacemaker rate increased from 70 beats to 80 beats). I told her it could be the sign of a heart attack, but she refused to go to the hospital. She said she'd call her doctor today. Has anyone else experienced this after increasing the heart rate on the pacemaker. Is it serious?
My mom is 84 and had the pacemaker put in a few months ago. Lately she has had problems with SOB and...

Sorry it has taken me so long to let you know how things went. Francine I am happy for you that you are now feeling better and all went well!
I had some serious complications with mine but fortunately am doing great now. As my wires were in for 15 years, the EP had a difficult time getting my ventricular wire out through my tricuspid valve and really damaged it. However he minimized it by saying t...

Hi everyone! I had to have my pacemaker removed 1 month after it was implanted. Serious complications due to INR being 5.8 at time of surgery. I was concerned about long term damage to my heart and was wondering if anyone has information about this. I did have a very successful implant 8 months later.:)
Thank-you,
Judy

I posted yesterday because I had thumping palpitations and racing heart suddenly after weeks of having the Life Is Beautiful" experience. To go to the ER or not was my concern. My GP suggested taking an extra atenolol which didn't actually help but allowed me to get some sleep. I so appreciate the dedication and communication between my GP, cardiologist and EP. They saw me today, read my pacemaker and indeed the electrical activity in the atrium had changed. My cardiologist gently advised the E...

Hi there,
I'm new here but trying to find out information. I received my first shock from my icd just over a week ago after having the device for 7 years. Since that night I've been dizzy on and off but now mostly on. Has anyone else had this problem? The clinic seemed to ignore it and just focussed on needing to change my meds to something stronger. It isn't related to the new medication as it started right after the shock and I didn't change my medication until 4 days later. I do se...

Hi There,
Pacemakers save lives but your pacemaker may actually be causing your decreased ejection fraction/heart failure.
Our Story...
My father had a slow heartrate (brycardia) and they put in a duel chamber pacemaker into the rightt side of his heart (standard procedure). Over a four year period, his EF went from 50% down to 20% and he ended up hospitalized for congestive heart failure.
After doing some research, and taking dad to a new doctor, the doctor confirmed that...

Need to talk again. Yesterday I went to a see a psch doctor for anxiety. I have been seeing her for over 8 years. She took my BP which was 170/100. We done our 30 min talk and she asked me to go to the ER because of the BP and the HR.
I went to the ER the best we have in the area and the EKG was normal, HR was normal on machine, chest xray was good, so the doctor told me to follow up with cardio.
I am ready to jump off a bridge. I am in a spiral of anxiety, confusion, worry...

Hi! I have been going through the forums and finally decided to post my own question. I am 42 year old mom of four, with no known family history (I'm adopted), and I just had my pacer put in on May 17 for sick sinus/ bradycardia. I was hoping to feel marvelous right away, but haven't been doing so hot. After surgey I could hear a loud squeaking sound(like a rusty swing) when I would listen to my heart sounds. Being a nurse, I had many coworkers listen too, and they all asked if it was suppo...

I got my Medtronic PM in June this year. So far it is great! My problem is frequent fluttering in my left pectoral (or heart) when in bed trying to sleep. However the PM keeps on tickin' away right through the episodes. I also feel fairly frequent PVC'S (OR PAC"S---can't tell the difference). Any ideas? I would love some sleep!-I'm 75.--Island Boy
