I go to get my wisdom teeth pulled (no jokes about wisodm please!) and of course, have to tell the dental surgeon about my PM. He sees I just got it not too long ago anf asked how it went and how I'm doing with it.
I tell him I just was able to golf my first round last weekend so I was REALLY happy about that.
He then asked me if my PM affected my golf game and I told him, no, I actually had one of the best rounds ever (for golfers, I shot an 84.)
I said - why do you ask?
He...

My wife had a PM/ICD implanted in May. Last Friday while visiting me in the Cleveland Clinic, her ICD fired five times. She was taken to the ER and diagnosed (again) with runs of v-tach.
My questions is what are the options for correcting the v-tach? CCF seems to be discussing radio frequency ablation.
Any info appreciated...

I finally figured out to post a message here-I had my pacemaker installed a year ago on Oct 5/06-totally came out of the blue and thanks to you people here -I survived the first year- both physically and emotionally. If it hadn't been for the information posted here at this site- I don't know what I would have done- the past year has been a very emotional and scary year. Thank you everyone
I have missed you all

Greetings everyone! ;-)
I'd like to say hello to all my pacer friends and say I'm so sorry I have been absent for the last few months. This Summer has been packed full of activities for me. Some very fun and joyful and some very, very stressful. I flew to England to meet Peter and Nina in May, I was in California 4 weeks later to visit my folks and family, I quite my job of 10 years, I went to work for a Dr. and hated it and quit that job as well. I am working now with a new dr. in a new...

I am 35 years old, I was initially implanted when I was only five years old (just a baby) I later found out that I had Congenital Heart Block. The first few Pacemakers were always put in my left abdomen however the last two or three have been put in my left shoulder/chest & I am finding it hard to wear a brazier as the plastic ring in the better bras sit right on my pacemaker & irritate me no end, I would love to wear a sport/pullover cotton bra but altho I am of perfect cup size I am too wide a...

I leave for my trip to Mayo in a hour. I thought that I wouldn't be nervous at all but of course when the time gets closer my nerves develop a little more. So if you think about it all please say a little prayer that I have safe travels and they can figure out what the next step is I would appreciate them. Oh and Smitty thanks for the info. Have a great week.
To all the new comers that I haven't gotten to meet yet welcome to this amazing club. Hopefully soon I will get to meet y'all.

Short and sweet, went to bed, woke up with the EMTs asking me to get on the stretcher. Seems I had a "seizure" and family called 911. At the ER the telemetry showed a 9 second pause, a 5 second pause and a 4 second pause within the first 1/2 hour there.
I'm 63, on a bunch of depression meds, a Calcium channel blocker for mild hypertension-well controlled, and just had some GYN surgery the week before my "events'. After the ER, a muga/ultrasound, a heart cath I got a dual pacemaker...

Hello Friends,
Just signed on and I am thrilled to see that a total of $390.00 has been donated toward the Pacemaker Clubs' Photo Album. For those newbies out there, this is a project which Blake, the person to whom we owe a huge THANK YOU for this website/forum, is willing to design & develop if we can collect a total of $500.00 which is the estimated cost. Many of the "old-timers" requested a photo album so we can put names and faces together. Since 99.9% (my guess) of us will...

I've had a St.Jude pacemaker for 12 years. Three years ago the rate response monitor began malfunctioning bumping my pulse from 60 to 110 at the slightest physical activity. I tried multiple times to convince my doctor of the malfunction but he didn't believe me. Eventually I asked the technician to turn off the rate response and for three years I've gotten by with my normal heart rhythm without any pacing above the minimum 60 bpm. In the meantime I'm waiting for this unit to run down so I can g...

maybe I should have read your post about the lamb ,it must sound horrible about me eating my lamb one day, sorry about that but as I sit here writing this I can't stop laughing, my sister who took care of my Mum this last weekend also had to feed the lamb and was not impressed when it was ready she could come for tea, she said I'm not eating that lamb. I used to foster children and as we nearly alway had a lambs to feed we gave the boy Ben one that was his pet lamb, anyway the lamb got bigger a...

Hi All,
I just received a replacement pacer in July. This is my 7th replacement (first pacemaker was 1975) and I seem to have developed a twitch. If I hold my hand over and press lightly down on the pacemaker I can feel a muscle twitch with each beat. Sometimes if I hold my arm in a certain position it actually jumps. Anyone ever have this? It's a new one on me. I did notice that this generator seems closer to under my arm than the last. It can be a very annoying feeling. Thanks for...

Hi -- I had a CRT-D implanted in Feb 06 to help my cardiomyopathy & LBBB. I've been doing well, no firing of the defibrillator, thank goodness! Today, my internist did an EKG as part of my annual physical. It showed a right bundle branch block, something I've never had before. Anything to worry about? My cardiologist isn't in today & I was just wondering if that had happened to anyone else after having a pacemaker.

Had a question about things your to avoid when you have a pm. I've had one for 11 weeks, wondering if you come into contact with things your not suppose to if you feel it or what happens, will I know if there is a problem right away or not.. Just started to use a shock collar for my dog and was holding the hand held transmitter in my chest pocket and was worried if I should be using it, also I keep forgetting and I put my cell phone in chest pocket..Any body have problems going back to something...

Hi, I am 51 and had my pm fitted in Juy 2007. I am uncomfortable with my pm. I have been told that I have to wait for a period of about 6 months for this to ease. I have itching under the skin and also a pressure feeling when I move. Is this normal?
I do hope someone can assist with these queries.

Hello to all. Seems a while since I posted. Have been really ill with bad flu which then gave me shocking asthma. Weather here looked like spring had sprung then turned back again to wet, cold and windy. Not very helpful when the new roofing materials turned up and the guys want a run of about five clear days to get the new roof on the house.
I have been suffering with the pain in my left shoulder again. The doc gave me a needle to see if it would fix it but no success. I get pi...

I am no expert, but I believe that without the defibrillator that I have, I would be dead.
