Who Understands How Rate Response Works?

I have posted a couple of questions on this site. One I commented on an older post from three years ago. Unless I go to my own postings I don't see it showing up in the General Topic. Anyway what I would like to know, is who on this site would be able to help me intepret my readings on my Interrogation. I am starting to think I have a pacemaker rate response problem and not what my cardiologist said. He said my body just needed to get acclimated to having a normal heart rate on exertion....

First Follow Up

It's been 4 days today since the placing of my Bos.Sci. pacemaker. I had a first follow up today and my Dr. and he said the surgery site looked great.
I was not sent home from my PM surgery with any kind of pain meds. I usually am not a fan and didn't think I'd need them until last night .I had the worst pain I've had in a long time in all of my neck and shoulder muscles. I've only really used the arm sling to sleep in. I think the heavy duty wound tape they stretched so tightly agai...

Interrogation Yesterday and Setting Adjustments

So TODAY is my birthday and I am 62 and well! I got my medtronic MRI compatible pacemaker on July 16 and received my first formal interrogation and met with the technician and my doctor's nurse. I had been complaining of fatigue even with the pacemaker. I insisted on becoming an informed patient so they did give me a printout of my report. They had me set with a low of 70 and a high of 150. They said that I had 0 episodes of afib since the last check and only 1 one-second SVT on Aug. 16. And I h...

Heartbless

Hello PM fellows.

Can anyone advise me if a common low setting of 60 is a good place to be? What is recommended for the high - 140???

I am seeing my Cardio next week (6 weeks since PM inserted) and this will be my first "tweek" as my PM was left at factory settings.  It will be wonderful to have this feeling of pressure in my head gone for good!!!

Many thanks.
Jen.

Appointment on Wednesday

I have an appointment this Wednesday with the pacemaker technician for my first interrogation and then with my doctor's nurse so I can ask some questions about issues I am having. I had one adjustment about 2 weeks after getting the pacemaker installed on July 16, 2012 but this is the first scheduled interrogation. I received the pacemaker because of sick sinus syndrome. My blood pressure has never been high but I have had low energy for several years. What are the questions I should be asking...

Timetable for checks for a new pacemaker

What is the normal schedule for PM interrogations when a new device has been fitted for the first time?

I know this will vary from country to country, and according to condition. I have a PM and was it checked one day after implantation, then after 4-6 weeks, then after 6 months. A good friend at another UK hospital had to wait 9 weeks to get her first check, and only then after a stream of emails and phone calls. Her PM needed adjusting because she was showing signs of PM syndrome...

Time zones on interrogation report

I am surmising that the time recorded for high rate episodes on my interrogation reports are Central Time since Medtronic is in Minneapolis----unless the damn thing was made in China. I am trying to correlate highly stressful events to the episode times on my report and wonder if I have to correct for time zone. Obvious the PM does not know what time zone it is in, so it is running off the factory setting time??

Household shock-interrogation report

The other day I recieved an instantaneous electrical shock while doing a home electrical project. Will this show up in my next interrogation report as an episode or event? I recorded the date and time so I can tell my cardio what happened if he sees it.

upper rate

Hi All,

I had an interesting event yesterday that may interest you. I posted this on FB.

Finished exercising today and an hour later my heart rate was 130 and two hours later, the same. Hmm, that's the upper rate of my pacemaker. Darn. Went to see the pacemaker tech and he said WTF. (very reassuring) He reset the pacemaker and all is good now. Damn computers! Oh, he changed the upper rate to 150 and told me that the next time it clamps there, hold a magnet on the pacemaker...

sleep issues with PM

Have had my Medtronic rate responsive PM for five years with good success. During the recent year or so I have been having issues with falling asleep and staying asleep. My lower setting is 60bpm and it stays there at rest. A few queries;
1. Will a lower setting--say 50 or so put me in a more relaxed state---my resting state with bradycardia prior to PM was as low as 42?
Can the PM be programed at a lower resting rate only during my normal sleeping hours and then go back to it'...

Confused about check up

Greetings everyone.
I had a PM check up today with a new tech & he totally confused me & scared me. I got my PM last year in April 2011. In the past few weeks I have felt my heart jumping, running, etc.
I have afib. I have had 2 ablations and now the PM. The afib had gotten so much better until the about 2 weeks ago.
I saw the NP and he set me up for the PM reading. The PM tech told me that I had over 240 AF episodes that lasted a few seconds to a few minutes since July. H...

I'm 35 and got my pacemaker a little over a year ago. It definitely is not a burden to me. In fact, I have more energy (which my husband enjoys), can do more things with my kids and have weight because of having the energy.
