I use the every 3 month land line monitoring 'kit' the heart Dr. office gave me to use at home. I am sure I will need to return the 'kit' IF no longer used ~
The tech makes an appt. w/me every 3 months. The tech calls my land line at home at that time/date. By the time the tech calls, I have my lil' 'kit' opened up, lil' bracelets w/wires on my wrists and waiting for the tech's call. Once the call comes over my land line, the tech 'talks/walks' me thru the every 3 month routine. I lay the phone down over the open 'kit' where a phone indention space was made. After 30 seconds, I pick the phone up and the tech talks me thru more tests. A magnet is provided w/the 'kit' and at one point, the tech tells me to place the magnet over my PM & hold for 30 seconds while I put my land line over the phone indention on the 'kit' ~ then we both are happy, the tech hangs up and I am at home tending my biz ~ ALL happy campers ~ ha-ha ~ I LUV the convenience. I go to the Dr. office once per year for his check and maybe once per year into the office and see the tech for the test to be done in the office ~ Very convenient for me, since I live many miles from my heart Dr. ~
Good luck to you,

It depends on your condition, whether it is worth the money and trouble.
There are actually a couple of types of monitoring. In cases like mine I have the land line phone type Care Link and I send a test every 3 months. This is more for the convenience of the clinic, and lower insurance cost than anything else. It can also be helpful for folks who live in rural areas, and have a long drive for an office check.
The second and more important situation is where there is reason to have constant monitoring to get help if some life threatening condition develops. In this case having a wireless mobile setup makes a lot of sense. People with ICD's are more likely to benefit from this type.
My personal feeling is that I don't want some EMT breaking down my door during the night because I missed a few beats. I'm willing to take the risk, which is very small.
hope this helps,
frank
