hi all,
I went for a pm review last thursday after near fainting episode. The report showed i had 15000 pvcs in 5 months. i still get them a lot, almost all the time. i know they are harmless but why would they make feel like that? After the interrogation the dr. adjusted the lower rate to 40 from the intial set of 60. he also said the vdd pm implanted was not the right choice for me. the adjustment are not doing any good to me. im confused as im also planning to be pregnant after reading c...

I saw cardiologist today and learned during a stress test/echo that my pace maker is not elevating heart rate as needed during exertion/exercise. He's reduced bisoprolol to 2.5 mg. 3 times per week and said if I don't feel better in 3-4 weeks, we will call the company to investigate response issues. Help! Has anyone else had a similar problem with this pacemaker? If so, what's the fix? I'm a 67 year old female and a tad unnerved by this situation.

I had my medtronic MRI compatible pacemaker installed mid July 2012 for a diagnosis of sick sinus syndrome. They had my low set at 70 but because I wasn't sleeping they lowered it to 60. I guess they had my rate response feature on until yesterday when they turned it off. I have been complaining to them about extreme fatigue in the afternoons and when they had me walk up and down the hallway my pulse rate was 90 when they turned the rate response feature off to see what happened. They think my...

Hi All,
I have gone back today to find out results of tape monitor. The stupid hospital have sent me the wrong appt, anyway I asked if I could speak to someone as I have been anxious. All the pacemaker nurse could tell me was that the PM checks were all ok, however I had gone into mode switch 9% in a year, hence asking me to wear a monitor. From the montor they have picked up "extra beat" which I assume are from the fast heart rate. I now have to wait for another appt with my cardiolo...

Hi folks
Wondered if I could ask for your thoughts?
Got results back from a recent echo with the following summary:
Dilated right heart. Mildly dilated left atrium. Moderate TR. Borderline increased pulmonary artery pressure. Mild MR and PR. Mildly increased aortic and main pulmonary artery forward flow velocities.
My question is, has anyone with a pacemaker had any problems at all with any of the above? I have a VVIR pacemaker. I also have a non prod...

crappy after a check-up?
My 6 month check up was Monday afternoon and that evening I felt my heart beating hard. Tuesday morning I awoke at 3 am with my heart racing. Then for the rest of the day, I felt overly tired and spacie. I know the tiredness was due to awaking at 3 but I couldn't find anything to help me wake up!
I felt much better this morning. I just wondered if anyone else had this experience?
I wish you all well tonight!

Hi I am new to the site and have a daughter who is now twelve and a half and has been paced for over twelve years now. She is on her second pacemaker and it has approximately one year left of battery life. Reason for posting is that at last check the specialist noted a brief episode of atrial tachycardia which the pacemaker detected and dealt with. Unfortunately, I did not ask too much about this in the appointment as my daughter was in the room and I have to be mindful about questions which I...

Howdy
Are there any runners out there that know about rate response settings? My MD will only leave it at 4. Will I run better if it's set on 5? Is there any danger if it's set too high?
I ran a lot of marathons before my PM. I think the high altitude running damaged my heart.
Thanks

Hi everyone, hope you're all well. I'm finding it hard to believe that I've already had my little buddy (dual chamber PM) for just over a year now!. It was fitted for abheart block and I've been told It only needs to work 1% of the time.at the moment I'm sloghtly anxious that I haventfelt it for a few weeks. Should I be worried? What do you think. I have a check up coming up on 10th October and am really hoping all's well as i'm due to fly to london on the 14th!! :p thanks

Hello Frank, Thanks once again for your comment on my night-time epigastric pain, which includes your suggestion for a remedy. The doctors tried everything they have, but nothing worked - nothing at all. They diagnosed all kinds of things, like IBS, diverticulitis, stomach cramp, and so on, but none of them listened to my idea that it was possibly a simple windlock that would develop overnight due to poor digestion. Anyway, I've not had the pain for over a month now, and believe me, that's a hug...

Hello, and many thanks to boxxed, PacerRep and ElectricFrank for taking the trouble to reply to my query about my pacemaker settings etc. I was given the pacemaker because my heart rate was very low, but at the time I was totally exhausted from lack of sleep due to an epigastric pain that occurred every night for 21 years. I'm grateful to have finally discovered the (very simple) remedy myself, and have not had that awful pain for over a month. Long may the relief last. Regards, dillymar

I have a check up scheduled using my Merlin from home but I was not given any instructions. Will they call me in advance? Do I need to call them? If anyone has a Merlin and has had a check from home, please let me know how it was handled.
Thanks

I was implanted with pacemaker to treat bradycardia in 2009. I recently had AF/AT episodes and was treated in hospital to control high heart rates > 100 bpm. Using medicines my heart was brought to 85 bpm. while discharging from hospital I was prescribed cardarone, acitrom, cardivas, digoxin, lasictone medicines to eliminate AF episodes. after couple of days I observed pulse rate dropped to 43 bpm, when enquired with Dr, the dr suspected the way pulse was measured could be whong. I used BP cum...

I just had my staples removed 12 days after my surgery. My cardiologist checked me out with the Bos. Scien. equiptment. He lowered my minimum pulse to 55 ppm.
After having lowered the output voltage on my PM I'm still having some minor diaphragm stimulation from the ventricular lead. He talked to the Bos. Scien. rep and was slightly concerned about the diaphragm thing because in what he's only seen about 3 times, sometimes the leads are screwed in too far and actually go through...

Well, it is hard to believe, but I now have a pacemaker. For years, had bradycardia, with pulse rest at or near 50, but wearing holter monitor recently, we saw that I dipped into 30's during sleep.
At 53 years old and in much better shape than most my age, this came as quite a shock to me. Often had feelings of lightheadedness and feeling about to faint, but until recently these were very brief.
Diagnosed with sick sinus syndrome, I have Medtronic MRI SureScan unit.

Just received a copy of my last interogation. It listed 26 episodes, 14 of the episodes listed high ventricular rates with the highest being 190bpm. The other 12 entries listed as AMS entries with the highest being 640bpm. I'm guessing that this is why I was put on flecinide. Should I be concerned or is this a normal occurance. The high V rates listed as alerts.

I would think that at the minimum, a treadmill / stress test would be one of the first things your cardiologist would do at your initial interrogation ?
5 days after my implant , I went to my local cardiologist for an exam of the surgery site. He said it looked great. He then logged me in with the electronic sensor placed over my PM. He said everything looked great. I had him lower the voltage because of diaphragmatic stimulation I was experiencing and that seemed to help. Should I...

I am just thankful that I am alive and that even though I have this pacemaker it is not the end of the world.
