Dilated right heart/moderate TR

Hi folks

Wondered if I could ask for your thoughts?

Got results back from a recent echo with the following summary:

Dilated right heart. Mildly dilated left atrium. Moderate TR. Borderline increased pulmonary artery pressure. Mild MR and PR. Mildly increased aortic and main pulmonary artery forward flow velocities.

My question is, has anyone with a pacemaker had any problems at all with any of the above? I have a VVIR pacemaker. I also have a non productive cough which I've had for a year now and feel pressure in my chest which makes me quite breathless.

Seeing a Cardiologist on 11th October.

Many thanks in advance for your comments.

Mandy

dual chamber/3 leads

Hi,
What meds do you take? Lots of times a side effect of beta blockers is a cough.

Also those with VVIR PM often have atrial fibrillation and this causes pacemaker syndrome where the chambers are pushing the blood through meeting a closed valve. Thus, we are short of breath. I also have the chest pressure.

The solution I have found is a dual chamber 3 lead PM.
Good luck with your appointment.

Dual chamber/3 leads

Hi M'Liz

Thanks ever so much for responding. :-)

I had a faulty sinus node which is why I have a PM. Currently don't take any medications other than aspirin, but wondered if my PM was to blame for these symptoms, so I think you are correct. I'll see what the cardiologist suggests when I meet with him/her.

Do you still have pressure in your chest and shortness of breath with a dual chamber 3 lead PM?

Thanks again.

I have same symptoms

I've had my pacemaker for 3 weeks now, I'm having the same problem with the cough and tightness in my chest. I have a single lead atrial pacer. It's comforting to hear someone else with the same symptoms. I'm going to have an Echo done now too.

Take care,

Dan
