Hello Pacers,
Recently read about Senior Body Building Champion, Ray Moon. He lifts weights, runs and competes. I had my implant Jan 18 and fear weight training because of the many cautions received from professionals. I am 70 trained for 22 yrs. I turn the page and there is R. Moon and photos with his PM clearly in view. Any comments please respond.

Hi...This is my first post. I am 39 years old and was informed last week that I have total heart block and need a PM fitted. I was very surprised when informed as I feel as if I have never been fitter in my life.I Cross-fit daily and partake in numerous other sports.Does anyone else partake in Cross-fit and if so has there been any limitations in your training and level of intensity post OP??
Any advice would be welcome!!

I have been running 30 minutes with my pc. I am a 71 yr. old woman and have been running most of my life. Since the PC, when I run I experience pain in my arms and chest. It goes away half way through my run. Cardiologist suggested running in the cold, might be a cause but the temperature does not matter.

So I just wanted to give my story and maybe throw out a recommendation. I just got my 2nd pacemaker implanted April 2nd of this year after having my old one for almost 9 years. I'm 23 and extremely active with sports and fitness and what not. So this time around I got this pacemaker sub pectoral. And I have to say it was one of the best decisions I have ever made. I can already notice a difference of it not being in the way and cosmetically it's awesome because its completely invisible. The scar...

I have been a runner for 3 years, I just had my PM implanted on Monday and had my Loop Recorder removed. Does anyone know how long I shouldn't run? I have had various answers - 6 weeks, 3 months. Help? I know I'm out of my 1/2 in October due to an ankle injury from the acystole event but I'd like to get back to it as soon as possible! Thank you!

I had my PM implanted in Feb. I have entered Senior Olympic competition. I'm 72 years old. My PM is on my right side and I'm right handed. I shot basketball, threw a frisbee, pitched horseshoes, botcheball, corn hole, crochet, walked a 5k in 34 minutes. I have shoveled planted bushes. I feel fine but my chest, shoulder area still feels stiff. Does that seem normal?

Three weeks ago got Pacemaker implant. Some questions... 10 lb limit for lifting- is that either arm, both, or site only arm? I've been lifting grandbaby with opposite arm, gardening, etc, but wondering if I shouldn't be lifting anything with either arm for this first 6-8 weeks.
Can I lift my forearm above shoulder, but keep upper arm level with shoulder?
Can I do 5-8lb weight curls?
Anyone else get bronchitis or pneumonia 2 weeks after surgery? Doc says it was from shallo...

Thank you

I completed a 5K today. It has been at least five years since I did a road race... I did it in 33 minutes or so. It seems tough getting back to running; my legs are killing me! It is certainly 5K further than I could have done in 2nd degree block... But, hard to believe my 5K time five years ago was around 21 minutes. Gives me something to work for! Still thankful to be out there!

Hello everyone,
About 3 weeks ago I had a pacemaker implanted. I am 38 and was very active in working out and running. I used to do 3 miles or so a day. I hadn't been feeling well since about February and have had no medical issues my entire life but was told that I have bicuspid aortic valve disease. I was cleared to start walking/running again and when I try to run I get winded quickly. Is this normal and do I just chalk it up to not being able to do much the last couple months?...

I was just gifted with an armband to hold my cell phone while exercising. Is it safe to use? Does it matter right arm or left? Switch to leg? I'd be wearing it up to 5 hours on my walks and hikes.

I am 17 and I have had my pacemaker in for 2 1/2 weeks. My doctor finally gave me the go to work with 25-30lbs weights. What are some exercises that I can do without too much stress in my pacemaker area? (It is implanted under my chest muscle about an inch above my nipple) I worked out extensively for about a year before my surgery and have been itching to start again. Any help would be great. My physical therapist gave me the go to start working out lightly again as well, if there is anyone tha...

Before I got my PM, I was a distance freestyle swimmer. I read that one cannot do the butterfly stroke. How about the freestyle stroke. That requires extending the arms beyond the head. Will this stroke endanger the lead(s) pulling out?
