So I just wanted to give my story and maybe throw out a recommendation. I just got my 2nd pacemaker implanted April 2nd of this year after having my old one for almost 9 years. I'm 23 and extremely active with sports and fitness and what not. So this time around I got this pacemaker sub pectoral. And I have to say it was one of the best decisions I have ever made. I can already notice a difference of it not being in the way and cosmetically it's awesome because its completely invisible. The scar is there sure but it doesn't bother me. The recovery wasn't as bad as I thought and had heard but the muscle was sore until about a week ago. I'm back to lifting again already and everything. I am completely happy with this and would recommend a sub pectoral implant to anyone who is active.

Mine, too, is buried and I love it. So glad it worked out well for you!

Does the sub- pec placement make it difficult to test your settings/ get a good read with the the tech?

Hi,
I recently had my first pacemaker implanted. I am also very active and although it is not stopping me from running or cycling, I am finding it very hard to get used to the lump under my skin. Waking up after having slept on that side is quite uncomfortable. Similarly, when rough-housing with my son, he has accidentally knocked it a couple of times. It was not a very pleasant experience!
I did tell the surgeon that I am very active (not quite as spry as you, being 41 years old), but he didn't mention the possibility of it being placed under the muscle. Under the muscle sounds so much better. I have to concentrate a lot more on form when doing bicep curls now to avoid tapping the device.
I will definitely ask if it can be placed under the muscle at the next replacement - it's potentially a long way away though..
Thanks for the info
Mark
