New tenderness/pain in ICD area

Hi all!

I've had my (first) ICD for a year and 4 months now. After about a year, I basically stopped feeling it (woohoo), but for the past week or so, the area has been quite tender/a bit sore and I'm noticing it a lot throughout my day :(

I'm pretty sure it's because I'm carrying my 3-month old baby around a lot...and tend to burp him on the left-side where the ICD is. I'm assuming my body isn't used to me using those muscles...?

Has anyone else...

Boston

Hi Boston Pacemaker users, just wondering if anyone has had an incident where the pacemaker automatically alerts your doctor of a concerning event? Has this been effective? Did the doctor ring you? I would be interested to hear your story. Thanks

Irregular Heartbeat

Why would I have an irregular heartbeat icon on my  blood pressure machine it is an Omron HEM -711. I thought my pacemaker would keep my heart beat in sync.    Just a little detail, I was having some heart rate issues  and was told it was most likely a sick sinus node problem but my heart rate was not dropping low enough to get a pacemaker as insurance would not pay for it unless it was less than 40 and mine was dropping to  43, a few  months later...

I'm new

I got my pacemaker on 4/20/2020. Didnt have to stay over night. It seems fine so far.

In 2005 I had a seven way bypas, since then I got 10 heart stents. The pacemaker has been a great help. Will post more as time goes a long. Oh it's a 2 wire pacemaker.

Take Care every one.  Jim W.

Hi everyone- long post warning!

5G

Does anyone have any information about this new 5G telecommunications thingy that is being/has been rolled out as far as the EMF affecting older pacemakers?

Not trying to get anyone worked up, I'm just not knowledgable about it in the least.

I've had a quick google and can only find negative information about health effects but nothing about pacemakers.

My pacemaker is about three years old but my leads are from 2008.

Thank you for any information, good or bad....

Infection after SCC removal

I’ve had my pacemaker for three years and all is going well.

i’ve recently had an SCC removed from my leg and have developed a little infection in the wound.

My concern is this:  is there a likelihood of an infection travelling to the pacemaker?

articles and statistics on covid-19

We've had a lot of posts recently with concern over covid-19, questions asked if being paced makes us high risk, concerns over what happens if we get it. I saw two articles today, both posted by MD friends, that might answer some of your questions objectively.

This one has charts that show the percentage of people hospitalized with coronavirus that have other medical conditions. It's a whopping 90%! So yes, I think it's safe to say that having a compromised heart&...

Pulse rate over time

Hello,

Before my pacemaker my pulse numbers depending on the hour would vary between say 31-44. What I want to know is now that I have a pacemaker IF my pacemaker stopped working ( for a short period of time) would my pulse still be around 31-44? Would my pulse get better or worse over time ? If my pacemaker quit working tomorrow (for just a few minutes or a small amount of time )  ... 2 years from now ... 10 years from now would my pulse probably stay the...

COVID-19 and Pacemaker

Hi everyone,

I've been doing some reading, listening and watching about how the COVID affects you (isn't that the ONLY thing the entire world has done for the past month?)

It can affect the electrical system of your heart if you contract it.  Here's my question:  If it can potenitally affect the electrical system of your heart and you have a pacemaker, wouldn't that mitigate that potential problem?  My reasoning (with NO scientific background to pers...

Pacing

Thank you for your advice I'm sure I'm over reacting with anxiety. Maybe they are extra beats which I know 'normal' people get when stressed! We all have a lot to worry about at the moment with Covid19 but hopefully things will get calmer soon. The feelings I get are definitely when stressed! I need to get my breathing sorted as I know I tense myself which doesn't help. Be back here soon no doubt, thanks for caring!
