Zio Patch

I  have had Zio patches twice, and both times the results confirmed problems I was having. I wore them for two weeks each time. The first time it showed the frequent episodes of SVT(atrial tachycardia according to the EP) I was having, correlated with the symptoms. This resulted in a significant increase in the medication I was taking to control it.

The second time, a year later, the Zio patch confirmed the sinus bradycardia I had with correlation of symptoms when the heart rate went below 45. It also showed the episodes of atrial tachycardia I was still having, though less frequently than the first time. It showed an average heart rate over that two week period of 50, with numbers going into the low 40's and high 30's, during the day-and that was during attempted activities. Based on these results, and continued problems I was having, the EP diagnosed my "sick sinus" syndrome. Once we determined the bradycardia and symptoms were not due just to the medication ( metoprolol) I was taking but occurred even without it, I got the pacemaker.

I just want to share about the quality of life after my pacemaker, and hopefully increase awareness that lifestyles do not have to be drastically modified just because we are pacemaker recipients.
