Hi everyone, glad I found the club! I am a 57 yr. old female and having a pacemaker was the furthest thing from my mind 5 wks. ago. Ok I think Im past the shock :0). I keep reading that I should have all this energy, but I dont. I have always had a lot of energy before my pacemaker, and I am self-employed and my work is physical and I do have to lift and stir much like cooking I guess, as I make lots of natural soap and bath products. I was told I could go back to normal activates but I guess...

Okay,
My name is Brittany. I am 20 years old and am about to recieve my first pacemaker. I've had a reveal monitor implanted and explanted and currently have a port to recieve fluid. Howver, I am a bit edgy about getting a pacemaker. I'm worried about pain after. I'm used to pain but still get nervous about it. Tylenol usually doesn't help me much. Do you think the Dr. will give me a stronger dose? The same doctor prescribed Percocet for me when he took out my reveal monitor. My port is on...

Mitral and aortic valve replaced plus a pace maker. Done on Feb. 13th of this year. Recovery is very slow as an infection complicated matters. Right now the only problem seems to be severe pain in the left chest near the pacer implant. Chest X-rays have revealed nothing and the heart is working fine. Has any on experienced this.

Hello everyone--
This is my first post on the forum, so I'll introduce myself; it is also to let you guys know that I have the date set for my pacemaker implantation: June 5th, 2013.
Anyway, my name is Jacqueline but more commonly known as Jay. I'm 20 years old, living in Northern CA and am having a pacemaker implanted for symptomatic brady and pauses. I'm engaged to a Navy sailor and I'm currently pursuing a career in firefighting; both wildland and city.

By Port i mean like PortACath and other brands. Just under your skin and offers direct vein access. Guarenteed IV access every time with one small stick.
My docs want me to discuss this option with a surgeon this week.
I'm only 34, my pacer is for syncope and has been in for 1 year.
The reason for the port is a combo of blood draws ever 4th week, IV iron treatments sometimes as often as every 3 weeks, my current veins are pretty shot (try 12 sticks last time they...

Hi there. I had my 1st pm on 4/19/13 for bradycardia. My BP continued to stay up and my doctor put me on beta blockers and lisinopril. The lisinopril was increased to 10mg daily. Even though the BP is slowing coming down, I continue to have lightheaded and dizzy spells, not sure if it is due to the BP and Beta blockers or hypoglycemia. Is this normal after surgery? Thanks.

Hi,
I'm 40 years old and had a dual chamber pacemaker implanted 6 days ago.
There were no issues with the op, although the first night was quite uncomfortable - with chest pain lying down. I'd hd a post op X-ray so the nursing Taff assured me that everything was fine. The pain at night has eased significantly but at night I'm still experiencing some discomfort when lying down - a sort of burning pain in the centre of my chest when I take a breath. I also have a bad headache okay, but...

Hello . I'm new to the site and was hoping for a bit of advice. I'm 50 and had a PM fitted 4 days ago. I was told I could return to work in a week. The trouble is I feel so tired and this morning I feel lousy. I feel as though I have a bad hangover with headache. I'm worried I won't be fit for work next week. What is the normal recovery time after PM surgery? I work in the community, driving to people's houses for appointments. Many thanks.

Hey guys, Thank you for sharing your experiences on here. My mother just had her pacemaker put in 2dys ago. She says she is feeling a little strange feeling in her chest and pain and discomfort where the generator was inserted. I've given her ice packs and gentle reminders about using her arm. She had encephalitis last year and is struggling with short term memory still. Any thoughts for me so I wont be such a worry wart? How much pain did you experience? How did it feel? What made you comfortab...

Hi all.
I'm 22 years old, had a pacemaker surgery due to my congenital AV complete heart block. That was about 6 weeks ago. In the first week of recovery, I had terrible nerve pains in my shoulder, then headaches and such. (In my RIGHT shoulder, and my pacemaker is in the left one). Had to go to the ER, but they just checked the pacemaker, and it worked well. So soon the pain stopped and I seemed to recover fully. But recently I started feeling very dizzy, especially everytime I stood up, I...

Two weeks postoperative and feel weight in chest when walking a few blocks or carrying a load of wash with one arm down a couple flights of stairs. Never felt this before. I am set at 71 bpm with an Adapta DR pacemaker for sick sinus syndrome.
Any thoughts?

Just had my PM inserted April 25, 2013 and all is well.
I was awake for the whole procedure and could feel the tugging and probing. I was given medication through an IV to help me relax and numb the pain. The worst part for me was the nausea after the procedure. I have Sick Sinus Syndrome with long pauses between beats (5.5 second pauses). My heart rate average was 36. My new heart rate is set for 60 thanks to my PM. I am so thankful for this device and the Dr's who have inserted it...
