Just had my PM inserted April 25, 2013 and all is well.
I was awake for the whole procedure and could feel the tugging and probing. I was given medication through an IV to help me relax and numb the pain. The worst part for me was the nausea after the procedure. I have Sick Sinus Syndrome with long pauses between beats (5.5 second pauses). My heart rate average was 36. My new heart rate is set for 60 thanks to my PM. I am so thankful for this device and the Dr's who have inserted it for me:-)

I as well have SSD as my pauses reached 8.5 seconds during the EP Study and after the rushed me to Surgery for my PM. My original heart beat was at 24, at night it got as low as 18. Now I am almost at my 3 year anniversary and pacing comfortably at 68.

So glad it went well for you. It truly is an amazing device. Your attitude sounds great (all of you) and that is such an important component of recovery.
Stay well,

I've seen many posts about people being concerned about exercise after having a device so thought I would let you know that yesterday I raced my first marathon since having my pacemaker fitted in fall 2004.
I join you in your happiness!

I had the exact same experience as you on March 4th and my life has become wonderful again with my new best friend. I'm walking again and just loving life. I am so happy that you are as thankful as I am for this amazing miracle of science. Best of luck and much happiness to you. Carol
