Since my last few appointments, (around the last year while my resting bpm has been 55) i have noticed that when i do physical activity, even something as small as a brisk walk (even when it's cold) can lead me to get quite hot and sweat (not a lot but more than i would expect) even though i don't get physically tired from it and i was wondering if this could be something to do with the sensitivity of my pacemaker. for example maybe if it is a bit too sensitive then i could be getting the same...

Hello,
I've read a few posts that people are having problems with their HR monitors. I was just thinking that I needed a new strap. I've only had my PM in for two weeks (getting staples removed today). My pm is set for 50 and will help me reach 140. I don't seem to go over 70 on a 4 mile walk. Today it dropped to 38 but it's not supposed to go below 50. Anyone else have problems with it not picking up your rate? Second question. How long do I have to wait before I get to start exercising?...

Hello everyone. I am 62 yr female and was fitted with a CRT-D quad in July this year. I was diagnosed with dilated cardiomyopathy in June 2000 after contracting a virus. When I competed in my last 10k Fun Run in July noticed half way through run I couldnt feel my legs and was exhausted and had to...

Been fussing with a torso mounted sensor (for cycling), only to discover that transmission isn't reliable because, I'm told, pacemakers interfere with HM sensors(?)
I didn't know that!!! Although both the heart and pacemakers emit electrical impulses, I figured that, if your ICD isn't pacing or fibbing you, it isn't emitting anything. Yes? No?
Regardless, any reliable sensor recommendations (wrist based as opposed to torso?)... that'll transmit preferably to a handlebar mou...

I exercised for the first time. My exercise was not the walk I take daily but one in which I decided to see what I can do. I played basketball. I ran for at least 2 minutes straight with the only side effect of weak legs. I was recently fitted with a biventricular pacemaker. That extra lead made all the difference in the world as far as having more air and less side effects of chf

Hi, Need some advice before I call the clinic in the morning.
Had a second aortic valve replacement in July, unfortunately had complete heart block after surgery and ended up needing a pacemaker.
I am a martial artist, competitive and instructor, tae kwon do and boxing etc as well as running, assault courses etc.
After all clear from surgeon I began training again last week but when running found I was hitting a wall and getting out of breath and dizzy.

Question for anyone who can answer it, I have a pacemaker in my abdomen put in at birth and since I have started going swimming in deep water at the indoor pool I get a tightness in my chest after exerting myself so my question is that if that's normal or is it even related to the pacemaker at all? BTW I am twelve and just started to learn to swim.
ps- Should I consult a Dr. and should I continue swimming.

Hi, everyone, first off, great site! I got my device unexpected 6 days ago. Went in for a treadmill test, but even before I got on the treadmill I fainted and they saw my heart stopped beating for a bit. The phrase I heard repeated over and over the next few hours was "10 second pause". My cardiologist was there and told me I was getting a pacemaker. Lot to absorb (I'm only 41 and have only had one other fainting spell in the last year), but after being stubborn for a bit I went ahead with the s...

Hi, I'm was recently implanted with a dual chamber pacemaker for bradycardia -- about once every 6mos my heart rate drops really low and I pass out. I'm now paced at a steady 50bps. I'm in my 30s and enjoy vigorous exercise, in particular BJJ. (If you don't know what it is just think wrestling: clinching, someone pinning you on the ground, full strength pushing, pulling, occasional throws onto mats. No punching or kicking.)
I'm trying to evaluate whether it's worth the risk continuing...

After surviving an out of hospital arrest 11yrs ago,I am booked in for a pacemaker/defibrillator in a couple of weeks . Cruising is on the bucket list and will include a compressed air hookah for under water maintenance and hunting/gathering. I forgot to ask my cardiologist about this and won't see him again before the op but I was wondering about the effects of two atmospheres of pressure on the device. Does anyone have knowledge of this subject.?

Greetings to all....at the suggestion of Inga (aka golden_snitch ... the supreme purveyor of all things related to PM's) I am presenting a dilemma to any of you Medtronic users who might be of help.
I am a 72 y/o man with three aortic valve replacements (1992, 2000, and March 2014) who has remained very athletically active. I had a Medtronic ADDR01, dual-lead, PM installed in January and am currently paced near 100% of the time. With an accelerometer only, the PM is designed to resp...

Charity ride for work, The United way got 62000.00 166 riders total there was a 30, 50 & 62 mile ride. I signed up for the 50 due to poor road marking did a few extra. Felt good heart rate still not getting as high as I think it should. 3 of my buddy's and I all had heart rate monitor my HR was alway 20 or more bpm slower then they had. With that said, pretty happy with PM I guess it is just the way it is.

I got my pacemaker in June 2014. I am back to the gym but my Dr. doesn't think I should be doing push-ups or lifting weights over head with my left arm. To me this means I really can't do any shoulder or chest exercises! She feels the leads are man made and the pushing and pulling can wear them out. Has anyone else heard this?

I am a 61 year old female with a St. Judes PM implanted late July 2014. I have been taking Pilates on a reformer once a week for the past year and a half. I also take Yoga and mat Pilates several times a week. The doctor has suggested I wait a month before resuming the reformer. He has also advised against repetitive motion such as tennis.
I miss the reformer terribly, but concerned with some of the upper body exercises on them. Any one out there work on a reformer? what about pl...
