Been fussing with a torso mounted sensor (for cycling), only to discover that transmission isn't reliable because, I'm told, pacemakers interfere with HM sensors(?)
I didn't know that!!! Although both the heart and pacemakers emit electrical impulses, I figured that, if your ICD isn't pacing or fibbing you, it isn't emitting anything. Yes? No?
Regardless, any reliable sensor recommendations (wrist based as opposed to torso?)... that'll transmit preferably to a handlebar mounted display? Thanks!

In am sure you are aware of the Polar brand.
Info from their website: http://www.polar.com/e_manuals/Move/Polar_Move_user_manual_English/ch05.html
Note! If you are using a pacemaker, you can use Polar training computers. In theory interference to pacemaker caused by Polar products should not be possible. In practice no reports exist to suggest anyone ever having experienced interference. We cannot however issue an official guarantee on our products' suitability with all pacemakers or other implanted devices due to the variety of devices available. If you have any doubts, or if you experience any unusual sensations while using Polar products, please consult your physician or contact the implanted electronic device manufacturer to determine safety in your case.

If you have a pacemaker using Polar training computer is at your own risk. We recommend that you do an exercise test under your doctor's supervision before starting monitor of a heart rate monitor. The test is to ensure the safety and reliability of the simultaneous use of pacemaker and a heart rate monitor.

I went through half a dozen, did not find one that worked for me. After returning the first two, I started asking to try them in the store.
We shouldn't use the electronic scales that calculate bmi.

Hmm I don't see any way how to attach a PDF file here. You could try this URL

and scroll all the way down to electromagnetic interference.
There Is a PDF entitled Polar Heart Rate Monitors and Implantable Devices
Available for download at t this URL

Just because you have a device doesn't mean you are damaged goods and can't do anything worthwhile and have to lie down and die. In fact, you're better and stronger. You're bionic!
Mio heart rate training

I would go for a heart rate monitor that doesn't need a chest strap to lessen proximity and interference from your PM. I have a Mio heart rate watch (earlier model) which I prefer over the Polar.
I got good feedback aboutNthe Mio range when I was researching heart rate watches. See this URL:

Will the ALPHA interfere with my pacemaker?
We recommend researching whether your pacemaker receives interference from Bluetooth devices. The ALPHA sends a BTLE or BT 4.0 signal when it is gathering your heart rate. We may also advise consulting your doctor for more information about your pacemaker.
Hope this helps
