Can anyone explain oversensing to me? I am so confused....
My latest check showed that I had six atrial high rate episodes. The longest was only 10 seconds, and the highest rate was 380 A and 116 V. The tech said (and doc verified) that the strips from these events showed that I was being oversensed. They then raised my atrial lead sensitivity to .50 mV
However, previous to this, I was actually undersensing, and so they dropped my atrial lead sensitivity to .35 mV

My husband had a pacemaker implanted in March this year. In the past 6 weeks he first got an infection that made him feel horrible. Next he got a large blood clot in his upper body. After that he went back to the ER with what turned out to be pericarditis with very terrible pain. No that is not all. This weekend back to the ER again and this time it was Afib and A flutter. Anybody else have all this? It has been very stressful and confusing.

Hello, On Feb 26 I had my pacemaker replaced. I was told everything was good, but three weeks later, I woke up with swelling around the site, with pain. I was seen by the doctor a few days later. The doctor stated "he was worried about an infection, since the leads were "Yellow and Crusty", but he thinks it is a hematoma. We waited two weeks, and no improvement, so he is now thinking it is infected or the pacemaker dropped down pushing on the bottom of the pocket.Today, I had a PET/CT scan and C...

Four weeks ago I was diagnosed with Bradycardia, and am now the proud owner of a Medtronic two wire Pacemaker.
All seems to be working ok, except I have had a metallic taste in my mouth ever since my PM was inplanted. I don't know if this is a coincidence or a result of my PM.
If anyone else has had a similar experience I would love to know.
Many thanks.

This may be the wrong site for me to be looking for answers but.... my mom just had a pace maker put in about 21/2 months ago ended up with every complication that can happen Anyways after being hm for only 10 days {since 3rd week in 12/16} she discovered puss coming out from around where the pace maker was placed. So now once again she's back in the hospital. My question is are multiple complications more common than not, on average?

When laying flat in bed I can feel twitches which I've been told it's a nerve going to my diaphragm being triggered. It goes off after a while and doesn't happen it I'm propped up with 3 pillows which hurts my neck. During the night I take one away and all ok. My resting heart rate is 40 but my pm is set for 45 after an adjustment from 50. Has anyone else experiences this

Not a complication as such, just a quick question.
I'm just 6 weeks post implant and right at the end of my incision it just looks like the end of a black stick is popping out, just enough to show and catch on my shirt. It's not red or inflamed it looks like it's healing well. I'm pretty sure my consultant said all the stitches would dissolve or their own accord over the course of a few weeks.
Anyone had any similar experiences?

I am implanted with dual chamber PM for the past 7 years and prior to that single chamber for 10 years. On recent checking I was found to have had 37 episodes of fibrillation with ranging from 160 to 180. My setting is 60-120 Beats per min. Except on one ocassion I did'nt feel any discomfort. During that one episode I had blurring of vision for 4 full minutes, while I was returning after my usual evening walks. needless to say I was scared. My cardiologist prescribed ecosprin for a month. I stop...

I have had a pacemaker for over 15 yrs, the last being implanted in Dec 2010. I have never had this happen until after my last pacer check the other day. It feels like my pacer is beating, literally you can feel it on my pacer. I thought maybe I was imagining it but my husband & son both could feel it strongly. It doesn't hurt but is very uncomfortable. I don't know if my settings were changed last week. Has anyone else ever experienced this before or have any info as to what is causing this?

I had my cardiac loop monitor implanted almost 2 months ago. ... needless to say I am not impressed with it at all! I feel as if the pharmaceutical company pushed this device. Not only is it still sore to the touch or anything at all but it is nothing like what they told me before hand. I can't hardly wear a bra the scar is so unattractive and you can see the shape of the device under my skin and I am by no means small chested or anything else. My question is had anyone has had it removed? Or e...

I have had a pacemaker for 18 years - normally since fitting check ups shown a 5% frequency of af however last check level was 77%. Also I have been in permanent af for c two months now. I began to notice discomfort esp in legs when walking uphill- gym cardio was also difficult although both have improved markedly recently. Has anyone else experienced this and if so what treatment was recommended ?

I am new to all this, a 69 yr old female I had a PM put in 1 yr ago due to a blacking out from low heart rate now down to30 beats. Drs think my heart was damaged from past chemo and radiation treatments for breast cancer that occurred yrs ago, plus bad luck with the genes.
I have been fine after 1 adjustment to the PM to pace immediately without any lag time. Since then everything OK, until they did a follow up Echo and my EF function, which was normal last yr is now down to 40%, which I u...

I recently had mitral valve replacement surgery. In the OR prior to my surgery they did a TEE. The echo showed severe mitral valve regurgitation which we expected but it also showed severe tricuspid valve regurgitation. My surgeon said that my pacemaker lead was laying across my tricuspid valve and had damaged the valve so he also repaired tricuspid valve in addition to replacing my mitral valve. I find it interesting that this was not seen on my prior TEE from which my mitral regurgitation w...

I have a defibrillator but also take some meds to control my arrhythmias. I had syncopy episides and was put on amiodarine and mexiletine. I've had nothing but side effects, most likely from the amiodarone which is very toxic. I'm scheduled for a epicardial ablation where my doc will attempt to ablate some of the scar tissue on my heart. My question is about the drugs I'm taking. Has anyone else been on these drugs? If so, how long did you stay on them and how did you feel? Also has anyone ever...

Hello, all!
It has been a long time since I have posted on here, but thought I would see if anyone could offer some insight.
I have a dual lead Medtronic Adapt, ADIR mode, lower limit set to 90 to out pace the junctional tachycarida that I have been experiencing for years. I have sleep mode on, lower limit set to 60. They made these changes last friday, and I was feeling really great, but then monday I started to experience what felt like pvc's/pac's.
Went into...

A few months after implant, my left arm started hurting. I asked the surgeon afterwards about the pain and she said it sounded like a rotator cuff. The pain got worse and now is consistent, it's not getting better or worse. It does not hurt in normal activity, but certain motions/activities it hurts really bad, such as putting on a coat or reaching around putting my belt on. Am I going to have to live with this......
