ER visit and surgery (pacer/ablation)

Hi Gang,
I was admitted into the hospital Monday evening (7/15). One of my friends at the 55+ park I live in got me in the car and raced aprox 50 miles to the hospital.
I was checked into the ER, as they knew I was coming in. They put me on an EKG and my heart had no rhythem and was beating between 15 to 150 beats a minute. They sent me to a room and called the cardiologist in from home. He looked at the tape and checked my heart himself and scheduled the ablation surgery room for the...

Wound opened up a bit.

I am now 16 days post pacemaker fitting and the wound opened up on one side today. I put on a steri stitch and a dressing. I did not need this. I'm just venting here as you will have a better understanding of these things and what I'm going through. Anyway that's my tale of woe for today.

Is this normal..PM sticking out of my chest.

Hi i am 15 days into this and learning more by the day. Still a lot of bruising, but is clearing. My concern is about the size of the lump in my chest. it is almost three inhes long and an inch and a half wide and protruding over half an inch from my chest. I had a lot of swelling, but this has gone down now and what is left is rock hard. Is this normal and will I be left with this big thing sticking out of my chest.

left arm weakness?

Hello. I had a Medtronics PM put in on July 1 for bradycardia. I have an intro post in this same topic. :) I have had a cold since I left the hospital. At first I thought it was a sore throat from the breathing tube, but it never went away. By a week after surgery I've had a stuffed up runny nose and coughing as well. At times I've felt short of breath, but it felt more like chest congestion than lack of oxygen. I've taken my pulse at those times and it's been around 70-80 I think. My left arm a...

I don't have a pacer yet

Hi, I am ItsmeWayne, I am needing a pacemaker and am scheduled to see the installer on July 18th.
I have a very slow pulse, with a very high pulse coming on also (fibrillation?)
The cardiologist notes say a pacemaker ASAP. I am not sure if they are putting it in on the 18th and wanted to know what to expect.
As you may have already gone through this stage, I am sure you have info to glean.
ItsmeWayne ...63yrs old, retired since 2000, T1 diabetic on an insulin pump, RA, Sjogre...

going back to work

I am getting a pacemaker in August. The Dr. told me that there is a two week recovery period but later I started to wonder if I will actually be able to go back to work then. I am a 53 yr old in-patient hospital pharmacy technician and the work is extremely physical and stressful. It includes lifting heavy things, pushing heavy carts and running all over the hospital non stop and am on my feet all day. Should I be prepared to be off longer than two weeks?. I try to call my doctors office to ask...

New to the club! 4 days post PM

Hello everyone, was looking for answers and found this group! I just had my PM implanted on Friday 4 days ago! Reading the comments helped answer my questions and nice to hear answers from others who are experiencing the same thing. My story started on July 4th just a few days ago. I woke up with a leg cramp and stood up only to wake up kneeling in the floor beside my bed! I had fainted, came around and rolled onto the bed because no strength to stand up. Husband freaked out and called my Mother...

New to the club

So...I was diagnosed with an ASD in 2004 when I was 30. Had no idea that I had anything wrong with my heart until I started having palpitations and shortness of breath that summer. Got it fixed in early 2005. I've had brief palpitations and sob at times but everything always looked good at my checkups. I had an EKG about five months ago and everything was normal (for me).

On Friday June 28 I woke up and left to go buy some scrubs. I felt like I'd been lifting weights with all the mus...
