Yesterday the 16th, was the one year Anniversary of me being the recipient of a dual chamber pacemaker. I have total heartblock and had emergency surgery. Felt pretty fine all this time, but on May 12th during a visit to my Primary Care Dr. he discovered I have a murmur. He ordered an echo to investigate. I never had a murmur before. I saw the Cardiologist on March 9th. No problems. Echo is the 23rd. Any thoughts? Thank you. &...

Has anyone ever had a pacemaker taken out. I have had my pacemaker 2 years. My left arm has lymphedema and has chronic pain. The electrophysilologist is suggesting taking it out. He looked at my pacing and says I have only used it 2% and it would be ok to take it out. He seems to think it is what is causing my arm trouble. I think it is causing it too. I am scheduled to have it out June 7th. Has anyone had this done before. I am a little nervous. ...

Hi! I'm new to this site. Just wondering if anyone has experienced severe chest pain after getting a pm? They claim it's not my heart but it's been terrible. I've been through every test and many trips to the Dr and ER and they are puzzled as to what is causing this. In thankfully heading to Mayo next week hoping they can figure it out. Just curious if I'm not alone on this...

I am on my second pacemaker. My first pacemaker was implanted in 2005 and in 2013 the battery was low so they replaced it. I haven't had any complications with my pacemakers. Recently however, I've started having pain and swelling around it. Approximately two months ago I had a really bad scare when I laid down in bed and it looked like pacemaker had flipped and was poking out way more than usual. I waited until the morning but it did not go away and was sore so I went to the ER. Afte...

Hello everyone
my Mum had a pacemaker fitted in November 2016 and ever since her health has been terrible. She is 77. I am convinced that she has pacemaker syndrome and don't know what to do about it as none of the medics seems to have an answer. The pacemaker itself is functioning fine so her cardiologist doesn't think there is much more to discuss. Her symptoms include: crippling lethargy, nausea, memory difficulties, mini seizures where she is momentarily 'absent'...

I had my PM implanted on 3/24/17. I sent my doctor the following list of concerns today:
It has been just over 5 weeks since I got my pacemaker (3/24). There are a few things that I do not think are quite right yet.
1) On Sunday 4/30, I felt a slight flutter like I used to. It happened at 9:30am. (Doc wanted to know)
2) Daily there are times when I feel pain on the sides of my neck that goes straight up by my ears and jaw. It is not constant but intermittent.
3) I...

Hi,
Had anyone continued to have tingling and soreness around their scar after the surgery? It's been about 10 months since I had mine put in and it's still uncomfortable and tingles sometimes. I thought I would be more used to it. Intellectually I understand it is keeping me alive, but physically don't like the sensations.
Also, I work a second job, part time, where I occasionally am required to be around a strong magnet. Sometimes I feel lightheaded or like I've...

I'm a 28 year old young woman. I have an extensive cardiac history. I was first diagnosed with sinus tachycardia, which actually turned out to be inappropriate sinus tachycardia. My resting heart rate was between 120-130bpm. I had my first sinus node ablation in 2014 which lasted 6 hours long. It also showed that I have a pfo and an anomaly where my vagus nerve is too close to my sinus node which put me at high risk for diaphragm paralysis everytime they got close to my sinus no...

On Holy Thursday April 13 I was traveling at about 40 miles an hour on highway in my town going north. A driver in the southbound lane turned right in front of me and I didn't even see the car coming. I couldn't break and just plowed into the side of the car.The other driver admitted guilt by not yielding but my car was totaled.Theairbagwent off, I passed out and when I woke the ambulance was there. I was ok but very bruised on my chest, waist and legs. I was release...

Hello,
my mom is a very healthy 57 year old woman until recently. She started having bouts of nausea, fainting, etc. then she got a pacemaker. But she is still having these bouts of nausea and pain in her chest. The doctors tell her "nothing is wrong" but I can't believe that my mom, a former pro athlete, would just be "ok" and be feeling this way. What questions do I ask! How can I advocate for her to get better care? I'm angry at her doctors and worried for...

Awhile back I posted that I dad developed a staph infection 3 m0, after having my pacer replaced, not including the leads
for awhile it looked like the antibiotic treatment was going to work then it began getting much worse. The leads were removed on the 20th and fortunately there were no complications during surgery. Keep fingers crossed that it stays that way. And infection does not come back. Surgery took about 2 hrs.

Hi all

The infection was looking good but in last 4 days started getting worse. So now I am going into surgery tentative date Monday . So far the site is only very red and swollen but not very tender, no pain we are 32 days...

HI all,
I've had a pm for 15 years, and my current one for 6. My generator is in my abdomen, as I got it when I was a kid. For the past couple months I have had pain around where my generator is. At first I thought I had just pulled a muscle. But the pain was persistent and has steadily gotten worse, to the point it has had me in tears. The doctor said it may be nerve pain from nerve endings growing around my generator. Has anyone had something like this happen to them?...

Hello! I have just signed up for the club and I am very new to all of this. I had a pacemaker installed March 7 as my heart rate slowly went down to 29 and I ended up in the ER. Turned out that I had a 3rd degree heart block and my heart wasnt pumping the 2 pumps because of no communication. Not very technical, but the short of it. I was so ill for 2 months, dizzy, fainting, befuddled, and so tired. The pacemaker fixed everything! I am so greatful for...

Does anyone know if high voltage lines can interfere with a dual adapta pacemaker. I have done minimal research but it seems that it seems safe for folks without a device. However I cannot find any data on residency close within(50)ft of a tower for someone with a device. Love some input! thanks blesses to all
