Atrial pacing is consistently increasing. Thoughts?

Hi all!

I suffered complete heart block back in 2014 and was fitted with a dual-lead pacemaker.  In 2017 I was diagnosed with cardiac sarcoidosis. First cardiac PET showed slight inflammation and fibrosis; follow-up PET six months later showed inflammation had resolved. (I've still got the heart block, of course.)  I'm basically asymptomatic and am not on any meds.

My PM interrogations over the past few years show that my atrial pacing is consistently i...

I have cardiac sarcoidosis. Should my grown children get checked?

Hi all!

I suffered complete heart block in 2014 and received a dual-lead pacemaker, which I'm now 100% dependent on. Three years later I was diagnosed with cardiac sarcoidosis.  As some experts say, "the first presentation of cardiac sarcoidosis is often the last presentation" (i.e. sudden death), so I'm  wondering:  As sarcoidosis is believed to be partially genetic, should I get my 27-year old twins checked out for sarc?

Thanks! Your advice...

Can an experienced Old Hat help me with some Answers

Stage 3 Block - Medtronic Dual Pacer installed in March 2017 - works very well, but i am also very lethargic most of the time, tend to get dizzy and have left side aches that feellike stitches (when you used to run at school) - i know most of this is probably normal, but do most people feel glitches from time to tome (no real pain) - and do people get dizzy. Im also concerned taht i am constantly out of breath - ive tried a treadmill but cant manage more than a couple of minutes heavy walking...

Becoming a pilot...

Ok here goes. Long story short of it. I'm a 42 year old man who was in good shape and not over weight who at the age of 38 had to have a pacemaker put in. I ended up having undiagnosed sleep apnea which caused me to have 4 episodes of rapid Afib. Couldn't figure out why but  out of the total 4 episodes of Afib I ended up having 3 sleep seizures. No one in our family has epilepsy and any type of seizure disorder. Nor have I ever had any seizures prior to my age of 38. Anyhow...

Implant Tomorrow

Hey y'all!  I'm getting a pacemaker tomorrow (1-11-18).  I'm feeling very anxious.  I'm not afraid, I'm just anxious.  How will it feel? How will it look? I'm a little uneasy about being awake during the procedure too.  My usually slow rate is racing in the 70's today!

Cardiac repair

Hi,

I just received a dual chamber PM due to a 3rd degree blockage.  My plumbing was fine and nobody was able to explain why the blockage occurred. (Some people said it could have been sleep apnea???)

My question is this.  I am currently pacing st 99%.  Has anybody known a situation like this when the heart has corrected itself over time?

Thanks,

Edgebull

Looking to move more or eat better in 2018?

Want to join me on a Whole Life Challenge?

It starts Jan 20 and goes for 6 weeks. You track different lifestyle habits- nutrition, activity, mobility, sleep, hydration. I've done it before and it's a great way to get back on track after derailing during the holidays. Most lose weight but that isn't the primary goal.

I started a team called Turbo Charged, would love for some of you to join me! http://www.whole.lc/wlc1801/t/turbo-charged/join

Hello All. I just joined after my 2nd device was put in

My first pacemaker was intalled in Jan. 2012 because of Bradycardia and blackouts. My heart was ticking away with so much smooth rythme I was just amazed. I still could not do anything because everytime I pissed off my Vagus nerve my whole body would become sort of fuzzy. No way I was going to pass out again or lose my rythem but fuzzy was the feeling when that Vagus nerve was aggatated.

I just had my second pacemaker put in Dec. 28th. 2017. Yeah, 11 days ago. On Dec. 24th my...

PM Extraction and ICD Insertion

Hi. Firstly, Happy New Year to you all.

Secondly, it has been a number of years since I have posted on here. I had my pacemaker put in in 2011, after ablations for arrythmias. I have been doing great. Got a full time job again, my children have grown up into fine adults....life has been great. UNTIL.....

In 2012 I started having episodes of ventricular tachycardia (VT). My previous arrythmias were all atrial prior to that. Over the years I have had occasonal episodes of VT, only l...

His bundle pacing may prevent need for CRT

Happy New Year everyone!

I just thought I'd find out whether anyone has heard about a new pacing technique which is attracting alot of attention amongst leading EPs.It's called His bundle pacing because the right ventricular lead is placed in  the Bundle of His, which is part of the heart's conducting system lying just below the AV node. The advantage is that this produces a much more synchronised contraction of the ventricles compared to standard pacing....

Life expectancy with a pacemaker due to congenital 3rd-degree AV block

Hello,

My girl was born in April 2017 with a congenital 3rd-degree AV block. She has a pacemaker since her birth.

I would like to know the life expectancy in this case ? It worries me a lot even if the Doctors told us that the life expectancy is the same for "normal" people.

Sorry for my english if it's full of mistakes but I am frenc mother tongue (we live in France).

Best regards.

pacemaker and continuous glucose monitoring

I am thinking of buying a Freestyle Libre continuous blood glucose monitoring kit as I am an insulin dependent diabetic.

Does anyone know if these devices are incompatible with my pacemaker?

The readers are, I believe, similiar to a mobile phone.

I have been unable to find any relevant info on the internet.

Thanks

Still have some scary/puzzling symptoms: angina, shortness of breath

Hi -- thanks for reading! I tried to be thorough, but not waste your time.

I'm about to mark one year post-pm dual lead implant for Bradycardia. Heart rate at 20-30 bpm with diagnosis of SSS, was what prompted the pm implantation. When implant done, surgeon did nick my lung, causing a pneumothorax. I understand while they get better, there are always a few, small bubbles left in such a situation (general physician mentioned that to me after this incident).

As preamble, I'l...

Chronotropic incompetence

Hi, I'm a 32 yo female. I have been diagnosed with chronotropic incompetence, with no background heart disease. I think I have had it all my life - have never had good exercise tolerance despite trying, and have always had very low BP and postural symptoms. Since having my baby 18months ago my symptoms of decreased exercise tolerance and postural hypotension have worsened dramatically. I am having a device implanted in 2 weeks (unsure of device details, biotronic I think?). Just wond...

Pulse 61-63

My mom says her pacemaker is set at 70 and her pulse is usually 68-70. The last 2 days it has dropped to 61-63. I looked at her literature but couldn't find any settings listed but through reading here I noticed there is a high and low setting. Could it be that her high setting is 70 and her low is 60 and this is normal?

Her blood pressure has been 160-170 / 80-90 the last 2 days which is high for her. Could that lower her pulse?

We live in the Philippines and Medtro...

Was skeptical but now a believer

The kids got me a Fitbit Blaze for Christmas. I was always skeptical as to the accuracy of the Fitbit technology.  After  extensive testing  at various activity levels;  compared to a finger pulse oximeter, they both gave  me the same pulse readouts within one or two beats----very acceptible considering both are doing constant calculations.  After 10 years with a pace maker, it was very rewarding to see my bottom rate never under 60 bpm and the rate res...

Fasting and medications and CABG and PM

was planning on doing a 10day "fast" starting today.  was wondering if fasting would interfere with the metropolol (50mg)? I plan to do only 10 days, with daily walking and yardwork.  Any ideas would help.

A positive post for newbies

Had my PM put in on December 5th 2017 and after the initial anxiety and some discomfort I'm here to tell any newbie looking for a positive post...I am doing fine.  After a month I still have to watch what I do with my arm and my doc doesn't want me playing golf for another couple of months but I'm feeling better than I did before the implantaion so worth the wait.  There is still some heaviness and minimal pain in and around the pocket area but it gets better every day a...

It may be the first time we've felt a normal heart rhythm in a long time, so of course it seems too fast and too strong.
