My first pacemaker was intalled in Jan. 2012 because of Bradycardia and blackouts. My heart was ticking away with so much smooth rythme I was just amazed. I still could not do anything because everytime I pissed off my Vagus nerve my whole body would become sort of fuzzy. No way I was going to pass out again or lose my rythem but fuzzy was the feeling when that Vagus nerve was aggatated.
I just had my second pacemaker put in Dec. 28th. 2017. Yeah, 11 days ago. On Dec. 24th my heart rate suddenly dropped to 32 and even though I got it back up the night of Dec. 27th it dropped again and I couldn't get the rate back up. I took an ambulance ride to the hospital and after 12 midnight on the 28th a new pacemaker was put in.
Doctors stated one of the leads was bad so? They took out the old pacemaker and put in a new one.
I'm here to learn now. My heart is skipping and jumping now and the nurses stated this was normal. I want my heart rate back to the perfect rythem it was with the first pacemaker so I can only hope for somemore luck. I don't know if that bad pacemaker lead was the problem with my sensitive Vagus nerve? Bad lead came with the original first pacemaker installation. I guess we'll see?

Bad Lead

Not sure why they replaced your PM if your lead was bad. Did they replace the lead too?
The settings may be different from the original PM settings. If there is a new lead, the voltage may be turned up for now until the lead settles in.
Questions to ask your doc.

As far as I know both leads and a new pacemaker unit was installed. They took out the old and put in the new. They really opened up my chest also. Instead of the small hole they usually make the doctor open up a 4 inch hole. I'd expect they were fixing the first implant to go to such an extreme.
I did go in through the emergency room where I "Died" and the emergency room personal brought me back. This is why they rushed me into surgery to replace the old pacemaker instead of putting me through all the tests and pre surgery routines.
You know you're wired when...
The meaning of personal computer is taken a step further.

Your anxiety is normal. It takes some of us a little time to adjust to the new friend. As much as they love you, family and friends without a device just cannot understand the adjustment we go through. That is why this site is so valuable.
new device or new lead?

Did you get a new lead also or just a new device? Sometimes a bad lead can kill a battery quickly but it sounds like you stopped pacing which means a lead went bad. In theory, a new one should work exactly the same as the old one but 1) the new lead could have been positioned differently or 2) the settings may be different on the new one. Try to get past the nurse to the doctor, it is not normal.
