Need Runners Feedback

I have a dual lead Biotronik Evia DR-T for Bradycardia and my low setting is 60, high setting is 140 - implanted 2 years ago. The surgery went seamless and I was back running within 4 weeks. Last year I had my best year running, steadily improving my times and feeling great. This past January I had an incident where my PM went into a backup mode some time during a flight to Florida. It was never determined if airport security caused it or if the Relief Band I wear for motion sickness caused it b...

Being evaluated for a PM due to bradycardia

Hi all!

I've been having severe fatigue for the last year and a half and have been to more doctors and had more bloodwork than I'd like. After seeing a cardiologist and having an echocardiogram and wearing a holter monitor I'm exploring the idea of a pacemaker.

The structure and general function of my heart is normal, but my heart rate gets down to 40 while sleeping and 42 while awake (according to the holter). I've been experiencing fatigue, weakness, never waking up r...

My story, Q&A and tips to prepare for your implant

I'm a new pacemaker almost three weeks out now. I posted here just before my implant and you all were so great to provide advice and suggestions to make my recovery easier. I thank you all and figured I would share my story that may help someone else preparing for theirs. I realize not everyone gets the opportunity to plan for and make decisions ahead of time before their procedure, luckily I was fortunate and had time to evaluate my options and prepare.

I'm 32 with a long history of...

Heart Block

Just read my Doctors notes from a visit last month and he noted
"s/p pacemaker (intermittant)."

Never saw that before...anyone have any idea what this means?

Mammogram question

This question is chiefly for the women who have a pacemaker.

Soon it will be time for my annual mammogram--the first one since my PM implant. Recalling how much of the chest tissue gets grabbed, I'm starting to wonder if it could unsettle the leads on my left side...or, worse, if it could actually grab at my device. I am built on the thin side.

Need Advice in Making Pacing Decision

Hello all and thank you for reading! All of these scenarios sound eerily similar to my life. Nearly 20 years ago, I failed a tilt table miserably. Diagnosed with inappropriate atrial tach,SVT and cardioneurogenic syncope. Was ablated very aggressively. The EP obliterated my SA node and I was now left with a diagnosis of SSS and chronotropic incompetence. AAIR pacemaker implanted. Very shortly after implant we discovered that the EP who aggressively ablated my SA node, also destroyed the ju...

Introduction-Hello

My life changed forever on July 14 2015.

Sitting at my desk after lunch which was a burger, fries and a beer ( I don't normally drink at lunch but a friend stopped by) and all of a sudden it felt like basketball was being played in my chest by pounding or dribbling. I took my pulse by a handheld EKG app on my iPhone and my heart rate was 227. I tried to calm myself by breathing, closing my eyes etc with no success. I asked for a ride to an emergency room when I arrived 40-min lat...

PM and BP

I got my first PM in 2007 and had a 100% AV node ablation. The PM box was recently replaced. I now suffer from high BP and am currently on medication for that. I regularly monitor BP and HR. The medication helps but an interesting phenomenon is a strong positive correlation between BP (both systolic and diastolic) and HR. (I'm talking about BP that typically increases by 20-30 mm Hg while HR increases from something like 70 to above 90.) One way I can think of this is that at the same time that...

Question about Complete Heart Block

Hi All,
It has been about 5 years since I have visited this site. You were all so very helpful when my husband got his pacemaker after his MAZE procedure for Afib gave him complete heart block. He's doing great and paced 99% of the time. Though he doesn't talk about it much, I know at a deep level he still struggles with having it. We are where we are, but I have a question. Does anyone know if complete heart block ever corrects itself?? Will he always be paced this much? I know that may be...

Pacemaker moving

Hello, I have had my PM for approximately 4 months, it seems to move around a lot, during the night it often moves up as sits over the edge of my collar bone which is very tender and irritated. I am trying to be patient but it feels like I am ripping a large bandage off every morning when I get up.
The Cardiologist said he didn't think it would drop any further so he could move it under my muscle, so that is doesn't move as much.

Not sure if I should give it more time to settle...

Pacemaker and streamer pro?

So does anyone here know the answer or do i just do as they say and ask my Doc?

Oticon Streamer Pro and Streamer

BMI index

Hi,

Does anyone know how to measure this if you have a pacemaker?

The machines that you stand on or grip with both hands, say, do not use with a PM.

Interesting book

Just read this book. Name is ALPHA DOCS, The making of a cardiologist.

It follows a cardiologist to be as he makes the rounds at Johns Hopkins. It gives a very good insight into the training of a heart doctor. As a heart patient you hear the terms but don't always know what they mean. As you follow the new doctor you learn a lot about various heart treatments.
