Just read my Doctors notes from a visit last month and he noted
"s/p pacemaker (intermittant)."
Never saw that before...anyone have any idea what this means?

Thanks for your advice. Am going to new EP today and I'll ask him. Got tired of EP I was going to as he brushes a lot of my questions off and would push new drugs as soon as they were on the market. Big practice so I think pharma reps were always pushing the drugs.
The new guy is also a biomedical engineer so will be interesting to have a talk with him.
I'll let you know what he says.

New EP

What a difference with this new EP....so happy I made the switch. Spent a lot of time with me and checked my pacer himself. No nurse/tech. He answered my questions including the interment pace comment by my former Dr. He said I go in and out of Heart Block which is common and nothing to worry about, so it paces intermittently, when I need it.
He upped my response rate which has made a huge difference. Shortness of breath gone.... I had complained to other Doc and nurse and their comment was you are out of shape. That was basically their answer and one of reasons I changed Dr's.
I guess my point in this post is if you are not happy with your Doc and not getting answers and you keep telling them you don't feel right. Go to another Dr even if only for a second opinion. It could really make a difference in your quality of life.

I wasn't really self-conscious about it. I didn't even know I had one until around six or seven years old. I just thought I had a rock in my side.
What you can do....

What you can do is to call your EP's office, ask for his nurse, give her the note, and have her ask the EP for the explanation. You don't necessarily need to talk with him directly, just get the explanation. It may take a while to get the answer but it's better than wondering.
Sometimes we read more into the comments by the doctors than is really there. They make a comment to the effect things are progressing normally and we think it's something bad. I've done it too.
Another option is to talk with your healthcare insurance. Some of the companies offer a free nurse consultation. Nurses on the consultation line can offer insights into what's going on.
Hope everything else is going well for you.
