Can a periodic low hear rate in mid 50's daytime and 40's at night cause you to be lightheaded, have low energy, occasional chest burning even when your heart rate is up in the normal limits most of the time?? And will a pm most likely take care of it?? I my heart rate isn't low all the time but I'm sure tired of the lightheadedness Iam having most of the time

My mother is 83 and just had a pacemaker implant after being diagnosed with sick sinus. She had been feeling very weak and nauseas prior to being told she needed the pacemaker. She was released from the hospital three days ago but remains feeling very weak and nauseas. I had hoped to see her feeling better by now.
Has anyone else had similar experiences ? She has been a pretty healthy woman with no previous heart problems.
Would appreciate any feedback as to post implant /hospita...

Hi Everyone! I had my one week checkup yesterday and my Dr. said I'm doing good. He took the steri-strips off and my incision looks great. He did a fantastic job of not messing up my tattoo! When it heals completely I don't think it will be very noticeable at all. It is still pretty tender but as donr would say "YOU JUST GOT CUT OPEN" lol so of course it's going to be sore for awhile! He gave me the green light to start showering today and I can drive beginning next Monday and he released me...

I recently had my first mammogram since my pm was implanted on 23 July 2013. During the second shot attempted on my pm side, I experienced such pain that I had to have them stop the test. Shortly after the pain, I suddenly became "fuzzy", so I sat down and put my head down between my legs. Then, I became nauseated, broke out in a sweat, and was physically shaking. It is thought that I had a Vaso Vagal Response.
Has anyone else had such an experience during a mammogram? It felt...

It's always helpful to explore every avenue when when you have a problem as sometime you can notice a possible help or solution, I have had that experience. I am a U.S. Marine; served in Korea and received several injuries. It has been over 50 years since I fully recovered; with the only health problem of High Blood Pressure. One day in the spring of 2011, about an hour after rising, I felt like I could be having a heart attack. My wife, being at work, prompted me to call 911. I was showing an a...

Thanks to this site I was able to discuss with my ortho that I am going to need an anesthesiologist who isn' the "throw a magnet on it type, who understands that changing a pm mode from DDDR to DOO can cause VT if my heart rate is higher than the paced rate. I told him I really, really want to avoid R on T while I am under. He then scheduled my surgery at one of the larger hospitals in Indianapolis instead of the small outpatient surgery center affiliated with the hospital I work for. I would ha...

I just joined this site, I'd been meaning to join a support group since receiving my ICD. I received mine in 2008, I've been 'kicked"
7 times! Once I was kicked 4 times in one night in 2011, while performing at a Music venue ( Blues /Jazz Club ) I've experienced tremendous anxiety from time to time, but I've gotten better, after finding out that my "kicks" were valid and saved my life! I was concerned about playing live concerts, so I stopped for while, I've since regained my confidence and...

We've just heard that scientists have discovered a meteor heading towards Earth. They have calculated that it will strike the U.S.A. at around 2:00am tomorrow. It will completely wipe the U.S.A. from the face of the earth.
We in Britain are faced with a terrible dilemma: should we stay up and watch it live on TV, or record it and watch it after breakfast?
Any advice welcomed

I am on my third pacer...I had it implanted in 2011 having had my second one for 17 years..?
I experience a lot of discomfort near the site, and have for the three years I've had it. I have had two different doctors tell me it is "just" scar tissue.
After 17 years, you can well imagine that my doctor had great difficulty getting the former pacer out, so I am sure there IS a lot of scar tissue.
But , I just don't feel this is "normal".
Don't know what to do. It has hurt so mu...

I Live in Liverpool England and have just been for my yearly check, we don't seem to have the education or info on the PM the way people from across the pond do, so can you educate me a little please. The Tech said I have clusters of AF, what is this ?? is it the same as the PVC I get but from the atrium instead of the ventricle ?? I have the pacemaker for heart block, I thought a pacemaker regulated your rate ?? why am I getting these is my heart getting worse should I take more blockers ??

I have a pacemaker for 3rd degree heart block. Without it, my heart does not beat at all. I'm scheduled to have intestinal surgery at the end of March. Has anyone had any complications in surgery with the pacemaker? For some reason I'm more concerned about this than I was about getting the pacemaker implanted.

I was looking through some messages and saw a post from ElectricFrank where he had written an article for the sites newsletter. Those with basic questions on their PM settings may find it useful. Very easy to follow. I didn't get to know Frank before he left us but I've found his posts very informative.

Don't know why but adding some fairly heavy weight training (for my age, 72 in a few weeks) has really improved my overall sense of well being. I had gotten in a rut, was not sleeping well, had a fair amount of anxiety and depression and was having numerous palpatations that were very uncomfortable. Wore a 30 day monitor that established that yes they were happening but no they weren't a threat. So after not doing weights since my first pm in 02, I started hitting it again. Now up to 35 lb dumb...

Back-road road vibrations trigger a BP raise from around 115/65 60 to 175/90 and an HB increase from around 60 to 90. This builds within 3-6 minutes of getting on the bumpy road.
Further, I experience very noticeable angina type chest pains.
All issues subside 15-20 minutes after getting off the back-road.
To address this my RR was reset last week, 2-20-2014. A Medtronic Technician did the adjusting. I do not know what he did, however, I had explained at...
