Better when it's stitched down

My first PM should do that - stick out, when lying on my side. I couldn't lie on my left side for more than a few minutes because it was uncomfortable. My second PM was stitched to the muscle, for the minute ventilation - but it had the effect of keeping it much flatter, and my comfort level has improved incredibly. I've had minute ventilation turned off for the past year or two, but whatever PM number 3 turns out to be, I will be insisting it be stitched in place again (they all have a spot to allow this to be done but many doctors don't do it). It's really made an amazing difference to my comfort, so I will make a fuss in the operating room if necessary!
Too late for you now, I realise, but ask for it to be done next time.
Not a problem for me

Hi Katz. I can feel mine just under the skin and (mine on lhs) it does stick out a bit towards my arm pit, or at least it's quite prominent there. However I don't see it as a problem as it doesn't get in the way of anything I do. I guess they have to give it a little slack in it's pocket to help us with different movements. John

I finished 29th in London in 2 hours 20 minutes 30 seconds which is my fastest with or without a device so clearly it didnt slow me down ! I had no problems apart from some slight chaffing on my scar - more Vaseline next time.
oops typo

The first line should be "my first PM would do that" not should. Duh.
