Can a periodic low hear rate in mid 50's daytime and 40's at night cause you to be lightheaded, have low energy, occasional chest burning even when your heart rate is up in the normal limits most of the time?? And will a pm most likely take care of it?? I my heart rate isn't low all the time but I'm sure tired of the lightheadedness Iam having most of the time

that OCCASIONAL low heart rate of 50's or 40's cause your problem because as you said you're in normal range most of the time, right?
So, during the day, let's say you're having a regular heart rate and in rhythm between say 60-80 and you experience lightheadedness or are tired, this is obvious I think that it's not due to your low heart rate because your heart rate is 60-80. My guess is check your blood pressure at that instance or have enough nutrition or something else. Lightheadedness and tiredness can be due to many reasons. Anyway, I hope you can find the answers to your problem. I wish you well.

I am on a monitor already we're just trying to figure out why Iam having these symptoms I am wearing this thing for a month. I've already had a couple of near syncope in the past. Iam on meds for afib and PSVT now we're not sure if it's the meds or what it is. I don't know how often my heart rate dips but I know it does at least some times during the day. Dr had already noticed I had 3 sec pauses at night before he did ablation last spring.

Anything under 60 can be problematic for some people. Even if it's for short periods of time, it's hard on the body and can take a toll. You've got a monitor now, right? They should be able to tell from that if your episodes coincide with dips in heart rate. If that's what's causing your symptoms, then you will feel better. If something else is causing it, then who knows.

How long have you been on the afib meds? They can lower your heart rate enough to make you need a pm, and they can cause fatigue and dizziness. It should get better after 4-6 weeks on it. I had to switch to a different one, the first one I was on made me almost drunk and it didn't get better. The second one makes me tired but no dizziness and it's not awful, so I can live with it.

Been on rhythmol since July been on htcz since November. I just about passed out again a few minutes ago. Soo lovely not!! I did manage after I let out a whopping scream because I thought I was going down to press the monitor button so hopefully they picked up something pulse seemed real low

fingers crossed the monitor gives you some answers! Be careful. Since you're having episodes, can they read it before the month is up? You need answers so you can fix it and get on with your life!
Have you tried different meds? When I was on metoprolol, I was dizzy all the time, started napping every day, my brain was a fog. The dr kept saying give it more time. The day I tripped over nothing in my kitchen and broke my foot, I threw the bottle away, called the office and said they could give me something new or I'd get by without but no way was I taking another dose. I got atenolol next, been on that several years now without problems.
Meds

I was put on metolprolol at the very first. I hated the way I felt. After the ablation I was ok with no meds until July then I had problems again so he put me on the rythmol. I think he's afraid to try anything else because of the dangers of my pulse dropping too low. Hence apparently he told my husband after the ablation that I was a good candidate for a PM but they were going to wait for a while so I know it's coming I guess eventually I just wish they would figure it out and hurry up already if it's gonna help me get on with my life just do it already!!

well not really, still haven't heard anything but I've felt terrible today. spent a lot of the day I think running in the 40's and 50's for my heart rate. I've triggered the monitor so hopefully something will show up. if this doesn't get any better by tomorrow I may have to do something else? i'm venting now. but I really don't feel good tonight--i'm going to bed and hopefully in the morning i'll feel much better. my heart rate seems to be a little better now but I still don't feel that great.

My low heart rate is why I got a pm. You will need to give your physician a list of your symptoms. Perhaps you will be asked to wear a heart monitor. I wore this blue rubbery/plastic think over my heart for one week. It records 24/7. You write down date & time if you feel certain ways. When done, you mail in the device and booklet. They read all the info, and then they report to your doctor. This sort of thing should give an indication as to exactly what is happening to you.
Please don't wait. Make an appointment to see someone. Low heart rates aren't something that will go away. Good luck!
