My pacemaker insertion is scheduled for Thursday at 11am. I'm nervous and anxious. I want to feel better, but not have to have surgery to do it. It's not a typical insertion. I'm thankful for general anesthesia. I just want it done so I can stop thinking about it.

Hi again
Well, my life is certainly full of surprises at the moment!
Great news today! The job I applied for at my local hospital a few weeks ago, originally they wanted full time staff only. I've heard from them today that they are still really keen to employ me, as I have 32 years NHS experience, & will be flexible about the hours. They have sent me some online tests to complete by Monday & if I pass them (I hope so!!) they will give me an interview next Thursday. Wow, I did no...

Hi everyone,
I will probably need a new pacer later this year. I would like to have some input with the doctor as to which type he will give me. I would like one that will let me exercise at the highest level I am capable of and the best over all benefit.
It will be my fourth pacer and up to now they have given me what ever they had on the shelf. I love to run and I feel I have been limited by the lower BPM that my current and past pacers have given me. I would like to get back to 10 m...

Today was my 10th pacemaker anniversary! And they said it wouldn't last...
The 2 permanent pacers before this one only lasted 4 years each, and this one was only supposed to last 8 years. Well, it's been an entire decade and we're still expecting another 4.5 years!! I'm really not sure how I'll be able to handle the next surgery - I won't be "used to it" anymore!! LOL!
Also, HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY to all the mother's out there, especially to my mother: she carried me for 8 1/2...

Have had a St. Jude PM2210 dual chamber since 2011. I have had episodes of out of breath upon exertion for year or so. Recently had a heart stent implanted. My out of breath episodes still happen from time to time. Anyone had the same problem ?

My daughter is having her PM replaced on Tues and someone told me if you ask the surgeon that they will let you take your old PM home? Does anyone think this is weird or should I let her. I thought it might be something cool she can share with her friends at school she is only 5. What do you think?

Greetings from a chilly day in England (again)
Have been supermarket shopping earlier & my other half insisted on using the "Self checkout" thingy's. Anyone notice any strange feelings by the scanners etc, or am l imagining it?
Nothing too dramatic just "noticed" my heart beating & a bit of a heavy feeling in my chest (and l wasn't even paying!!!)
Probably all in my head but just curious if there is anything there that could affect me little metal matey.

Our little baby girl was diagnosed with first degree hearth block at 4 months. She was being monitored monthly and in her past visit they found out she has completed hearth block and will need a pm :(. She is 10 months now and has had no growth issue.. She is very active and walking already ... I wonder if we should wait till she gets older???? We have no history of pm in our families and I don't understand why she has it.. Dr,s don't know either???? Anyone else with a similar situation????

Hi everyone.
Today is Mothers Day in Australia. I do not know where else it is on the same day but to everyone from my corner of the world. Happy Mothers Day.
It is a special day for me because my eldest son who has been estranged for 20 odd years rang me and wished me a good day. He also apologised and said how sorry he was for all the years of misery and we both agreed that now was the time to go forward. It was the best present a mother could have. I just wanted t...

A little over a year ago I took my son in for his annual echo, (he has cardiomayapathy, not sure I spelled it right) and was told that the heart wall had thickened enough that his doctor want a defibrillator place right away. That caused my first panic attack. The surgery went amazing, and I felt some relief knowing it was there. Just under a year latter the device saved his life. That was about 2 months ago and last week it fired again. Now it has moved over to the side near his armpit. I am si...

Good afternoon,
A trusted friend of mine suggested I ask my doctors about the below listed company, it's products and their philosophy. I am incredibly skeptical wearing a CRT-D, but the company says it's not a problem and I still wary of quacks.
However, Dr. Steven Sinatra and Dr. Mercola are promoting it, whatever that means.
Have any of you heard of or tried these products???

I am glad I found this forum. I received my Medtronic pacemaker in November 2012. I have felt a small vibration at the base of my spine (comes and goes) from when I got the implant. My dr says "the battery isn't big enough to be felt that far away". I decided it was just one of those things you have to live with until lately instead of feeling it for microseconds, I now feel it for 30 sec to a minute..... The Medtronic rep says that the unit checks out and that it not it.
My question......
You know you're wired when...
You have an excuse for gaining an extra ounce or two.
