Greetings from a chilly day in England (again)
Have been supermarket shopping earlier & my other half insisted on using the "Self checkout" thingy's. Anyone notice any strange feelings by the scanners etc, or am l imagining it?
Nothing too dramatic just "noticed" my heart beating & a bit of a heavy feeling in my chest (and l wasn't even paying!!!)
Probably all in my head but just curious if there is anything there that could affect me little metal matey.

I use the self checkout at the grocery store and never had any issues I also work at a cheese factory in Green Bay Wisconsin and we use metal detectors on a daily basis and never had an issue with that and I have been working there 14 years

Hi, I have been a cashier at a grocery store for 10 years now. I'm scanning any where from 4 to 7 hours a day. I have never had an issue with this.. I have an I CD dual lead. Due to dilated cardiomyopothy and left bundle branch block.

Hi Sue, no your'e not going nuts, well maybe a little, but I
don't know you well enough to comment on that! I had a similar problem at supermarket checkouts just after I got my PM, it only seemed to last a few months then stopped. Perhaps it was genuine or maybe me being paranoid, I don't know. But, recently I have had a similar thing on the self serve checkouts at Sainsburys. I scan an item, it plays me up, my wife scans the same item it works fine. We tried this alternating on about 5 or 6 items and it did it every time. So tragically I can't do the shopping any more! Life's tough, a bitter blow ! Maybe IAN MC should try standing closer to the checkouts (to avoid shopping duties in the future)! Sounds fair to me. Anyhow ,there weren't any serious effects from this healthwise ,just the disapointment of not being able to shop at weekends!
Hope this helps.

But l am no wiser now :-)
l suppose the main thing is if these machines /freezers do affect some of us who have PM'S then there is no lasting effect so its not really a problem. I am in Afib all the time and sometimes it is more noticable than others so it may even be that l was having a "bad" day.
Just got back from town & although l didn't have reason to do a "self checkout" l was surrounded by the usual electronic devices & nothing happening today............so who knows?
Clockman shame on you for encouraging IAN MC to look for excuses to stop helping with the shopping l am sure Mrs IAN MC is well aware of you naughty men & your poor excuses :-)
My partner nearly always does the shopping cos l have expensive taste .................No l dont, but it did the trick & he comes home happy with all the savings he has made :-)
Take care, from a barmy Shrewsbury, only 9 degrees today thats winter temps!!!!

In fact after the final "tweaks" of my pacemaker programming at the one year check up it is working so well that I forget I have it.

Interesting one .. as you know several people in the past have commented that the security gates at the entrances and exits of supermarkets interfere with their PMs.
Could it just be that the scanners are very near to the security devices ? ?
..also are the self-scanning devices any different to the scanning devices at the tills ? any supermarket experts out there ?
There is only one answer of course; make your husband do all the shopping ( on health grounds ! )
