Hi everyone.
Today is Mothers Day in Australia. I do not know where else it is on the same day but to everyone from my corner of the world. Happy Mothers Day.
It is a special day for me because my eldest son who has been estranged for 20 odd years rang me and wished me a good day. He also apologised and said how sorry he was for all the years of misery and we both agreed that now was the time to go forward. It was the best present a mother could have. I just wanted to share it with all my friends who know what a sad episode in my life it has been.
I think the happiness the phone call brought also made me feel better and I am not in so much pain today. I am waiting for to go to the mainland to see another specialist and surgery. Just taking one day at a time. Brian sees the specialist again tomorrow for management his spinal pain. Here's looking forward to a more positive week.
Talk to you all soon. Cheers from Oz

Ian: I'll check it out for you tomorrow. I know a woman who works for one of our Georgia Senators. This sounds like an initial copy of a newsletter that someone could have mischieviously signed you up for. You cannot respond to it, it comes from a source that does NOT receive - only sends. This situation is an aftermath of the anthrax scare right after 9-11 attack. All mail addressed to the US Gummint goes through a central screening facility that delays it by literally weeks. Fax, phone & e-mail are the only ways you can contact our Senators & Representatives in DC.
Don't blame you for being a bit chapped by it. I get them from our two senators every week - but then I know what they are talking about, so it makes sense (Oh, really?) to me.

I don't have time to polish my golf clubs because of all the bl***dy E-mails that Senator Bl***dy Bob Casey is sending me ( oops I forgot to put "Jnr" at the end of his name..and that's another thing that bl*** dy annoys me ! )
Keep smiling Tat Man... the world is going mad !

Like the rest of us I get unwanted E-mails sent to me.
I've just opened one from Robert P. Casey Jnr who apparently is the Senator for Pennsylvania . In his E-mail he states :--
" Wishing you and yours a Happy Mother's Day ! " If there are any Pennsylvanians out there, would you please
i) Ask him to stop E-mailing the UK .. we've had our Mother's Day !!
ii) Ask him to stop sending out unsolicited E-Mails
iii) Stop voting for him !
I bet Margaret Thatcher never E-Mailed you in the States wishing you a Happy Mother's Day !
Cheers
Ian
OOOOOH, aren't we touchy today!

IAN: We cannot help you for several reasons.
1) We do not know the e-mail address Sen Casey uses to address you..
2) We don't know the name he has you listed under.
3) Casey is a politician. You just don't get your name scrubbed off his list that easily.
4) He will not take you off his list at any one else's request.
Sounds like someone set you up as a joke.
Do you get any other mail from him? If not, it probably means that it really isn't coming from him - & especially if he uses the abbreviation "jnr" after his name - in the US it is just "jr." In that case, I'd start looking at your UK friends.
Here's how to get off his list:
Send an e-mail to this link: http://www.casey.senate.gov/contact/
This is a form to fill out, but it will allow them at his end to verify that the msg comes from who it is supposed to be.
Trust me on this one - the response of Congresscritters is abominably slow. I've even had a PITA getting ON the e-mail list of my Representative. You may have to try twice.
Good luck _ & BTW - Happy Mothers Day to Mrs Ian.
Don
That is the ONLY way you can get to him via e-mail. Otherwise you have to send him a letter & that will take forever & a day
So happy for you

Hi Don / Blue

Don : It is the first Email I've had from him ; it came from this address :-
Senator Bob Casey bob.casey@enews.senate.gov
It looks fairly genuine, the site has his photo and details of his policies on various issues .
I would have thought that as a vote-winner it is a no-no to send out Happy Mothers Day messages to the whole world but maybe you see things differently your side of the pond.
Blue : It was very remiss of me not to comment on your original message ; it must have been great hearing from your son !
Best wishes
Ian
You know you're wired when...
You have a dymo-powered bike.

My eight year old son had a pacemaker since he was 6 months old. He does very well, plays soccer, baseball, and rides his bike. I am so glad he is not ashamed of his pacemaker. He will proudly show his "battery" to anyone.

in the US. also - realizing that for you it is already Sunday & that we have about an hour to go here on our East Coast for Sunday to get here.
The International Dateline is an insidious thing.
Because of it, I never saw Easter Sunday 1975. I was flying east to west on Sat night before Easter & crossed the Dateline right at Midnight. Suddenly it was Monday. Sunday never existed for me & the entire passenger & crew load on that plane.
Wonder if I'll ever get that day back?
Happy Mother's day to moms/mums/whatever you call them, everywhere.
