So it has been one week since I had my pacemaker implanted, went back to work today and did ok. Unfortunately tonight when I was sitting on the couch, my husband leaned over to give me a hug and when he raised back up he accidently pushed his arm on where the pacermaker is located. It hurts of course but now I am more concerned because the placement seems different. Seems to have moved up a little which is not good because it already seemed too close to my collarbone, and would bump the bone...

Good evening,
I've been on amiodarone for 6-7 weeks now...400mg per day.
The doctor tells me our goal is to reduce it to 200mg per day and eventually come off.
I've schedule a pulmonary function next week.
Anyone with feedback regarding their experience would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you,
Ron

Hey guys,
I'm currently taking a class on human disease (which has been a major pain) and I'm required to write a research paper on a public health issue. I'm an environmental science and policy major studying to become a professional geologist... I actually took this class for fun to learn more about the heart. Turned out that I had to miss the one lecture we had on cardiac arrest for a more important school activity. As this class has nothing to do with my major I can't say I'm putting as...

and pacing along. All went good during surgery - was hoping to sleep through it all because I was so nervous and the nurse did give me the conscious sedation drugs but I was awake the whole time. It was not bad at all!! The Dr. had a little trouble with getting the atrium lead attached due to all the scar tissue from previous Maze procedure so she had to do a "McGyver" with the lead - but it worked! My first night home I had some palpitations along with burning in chest which I think was a p...

About 8 or 9 days ago, I posted a message about my 88 year old mother who was being denied a pacemaker since the hospital was telling her that Medicare does not pay for pacemakers. Through highly valuable advice I received here, I learned that Medicare does pay for pacemakers and I was able to get the hospital to put in a pacemaker for my mother. Thank you all for your kind assistance!
I also posted a message asking about the usual recovery time after surgery and pacemaker adjustment...

my husband is having an angiogram in the next few days in london to determine the status of his blockages and determine what further can be done to help him. for some of the oldies here you may remember that he was completely blocked 2 and a half years ago. he was sent home to live his life out and we asked for a second opinion. he was sent to sunnybrooke schulick heart centre in toronto and they used collagenese to soften a vessell at the back of his heart and insert a stent and this was in the...

Wow - I remember this time two years ago and not having any affiliation with the pacemaker club, nor had it even crossed my mind that I would ever be a part of something so uber cool and supportive.I had my last check up last month and was told that my device has less than 18 months left, whilst i was suprised it just proved to me how far I had come and how badly i needed the little fella! The on-going posts, comments and feedback you see from the regulars is as good as ever (Sue, Don, Electric...

After I retired, my wife insisted that I accompany her on her trips to Walmart.
Unfortunately, like most men, I found shopping boring and preferred to
get in and get out. Equally unfortunate, my wife is like most women -
she loves to browse.
... Yesterday my dear wife received the following letter from the local Walmart
Dear Mrs. Woolf,
Over the past six months, your husband has caused quite a commotion in
our store. We cannot tolerate this be...

Hi all
Had biventricular pacemaker fitted in Sept 2011 for SVT, in April 2012 had AV and SA node ablations. AV worked but SA failed. This resulted in me being 100% paced and my ventricular output restricted to 90bpm.
Have been have issues as of late regarding faintness, postural blood pressure issues, severe tiredness and muscle aching. Whether this is related I have no idea.
My electrocardiologist thinks thats all he can do. But I still am feeling racing palps in my atriu...

Hello all I am a 23 year old mother, with POTS syndrome and apparently now tachy brady syndrome. For 2 1/2 years I have had runs of SVT, A tach, etc. They have tried lots of medications but it lowers my already low resting heart rate of around 40. I did not have the low heart rate before 2 1/2 years ago. Every doctor I have seen, including my ER doctor, my cardio, and my EP says my heart is too naturally to take the medications at the dosage I need to control my fast. So i am scheduled Monday th...

Good morning,
I'm curious if anyone has an ejection fraction of 15% or less and how you're coping???
Last month, my doctor had to turn off one of my three leads in my CRT-D (Boston Scientific) because it was causing problems. So now my ejection dropped from about 35% to around 15% My lower ejection fraction so far, has me walking around like a slug...when I exert myself.
Thanks,
Ron

Tomorrow is the big day! PM number uno!!
Keep me in your thoughts - I will keep you posted.
Thanks again for your "words of wisdom!"

Hi I just got my pacemaker a week ago and I am afraid to do anything that could race my heart. I don't know too much about a pacer yet and I want to learn as much as I can. I am 54 years old and have a Medtronic pm because my heart suddenly slowed down. How long does it take to get active again?

I was charging my iPhone and had the adapter end where the USB cord pulls in already pulled into a power strip. The power strip was on as the heater is plugged in to it and was running at the time. When I plugged it in I touched the other end which plugs into the phone. Of course it is metal. As soon as I touched it I got a feeling of buzzing in my head and then lightheadedness for awhile. Didn't really notice any diference in heart rate but it was a very strange sensation. Anybody ever ha...

I feel as if I have my own concierge PM patient team where 24 hours a day 7 days a week I can post questions and look for the answers. Todays quiz. Waking up is good but after I am awake I feel as if I am an old fashioned crank car because my heart appears to be searching for the starter spark This AM my oxymeter pulse machine read 33 at first, then 78 then 101 and on and on. Finally, like now it is regular at 68. I this a common occurrence? I guess once I know that what is happening is not unus...
