Well it's 13/days since my crtd implant and its also my first checkup since the surgery. It seems like I am recuperating from my cabgx3 though not as bad. I mean I wasn't laid out like after bypass, but feel weak. My shoulder is painful but doc doesn't want me using arm sling, so HE threw it away.( he took advantage of me the day after the procedure, hee hee! lol). I do feel tired all the time but maybe it's my body telling me that I just have to adjust to the device and enjoy the benefits it wil...

I was lying in bed and took my pulse. It was 57. I thought your rate couldn't go below your set rate. In My case it's set for 60. I started to worry because it would go between 57 and 61! Is this normal? My PM was installed 11/27/15. Thanks!

Hey there-I'm 25 years old and just got a pacemaker a few weeks ago. I feel great-had my two week appointment last week and everything seems to be going well. I was just wondering what to expect at the following appointments. This past appointment my EP checked to make sure the scar was healing and tested the pacemaker-it only took about 10-15 minutes. Will appointments normally be longer than this? I was the last one of the day so maybe they were rushed. I haven't had any sort of echo or x-...

I am thinking about moving up to the Waco, DFW, Corsicana area and will need a new EP. Anybody out there from any of these cities with an EP they would recommend? I am happy with my EP here in the Rio Grande Valley, but I got a hankering to move closer to my daughter and her family. Any advice will be appreciated.

Hi, everybody!
1. My PM was set at 70 b/m. The observed range: 75 â 93.
Yesterday it was 68, first time below 70. Should I worry?
2. From the first day after procedure, I have pain in my color bone right above PM. 7 month later â the same. Intensity of the pain varies. Is it common?
3. Sleeping on the left side is difficult, always was, but now it worsened significantly. I wake up because of burning sensation in the heart area. Could it be PM related.
I'l...

My atrial or ventricular long term histogram shown in my Interrogation Reports does not show any pacing between rates 70 and 100 bpm. Does this mean that my Rate Response has not been effective? But the Rate Response Optimization is ON.
Can someone comment? Thanks a lot in advance.

Hoping I can get some help. When your pacemaker is interogated does your clinic give you any kind of report...should they if I ask be willing to? Also how often do you have your pacemaker interrogated?I feel like my cardiologist has limited involvement and most of my checkups are just with electrophysiologist...Considering finding new doctors. Any suggestions for Dallas, Texas..?

Hi,
I am delighted to find this site. It's taken quite a while to find workable settings for my medtronics pacemaker, inserted in 2014. I love to hike and as I slow my pace to climb hills, and simultaneously need more heart rate, the HR of course drops because activity sensors sense less kinetic activity. It's been a problem and has cramped my style. It's complicated by orthostatic hypotension, which can be triggered just by stopping and standing still or initiating movement. So I manage an...

Had a St Jude dual chamber 2240 PM implanted early Oct.2015 to help with AF and AV block. The procedure and 6 week recovery went smoothly as planned. No problems or complaints. Was put on Tikosyn in attempt to control the AF. One month after the implant I was in NSR 66% of time. I am trying to understand why I get an irregular heart beat about 5% of the time I take a BP reading(Microlife device confirmed by manual observation). Is that normal and simply a manifestation of the AF that the PM can't...

Hi all I,m currently on my 2nd pacemaker I have 2nd degree heart block- weinkibac I really don't know much about my pacemaker or even my first one ð I,m due for check up in Aug, my current one has a battery life of 10yrs, so that makes my next replacement pacer is due by Feb 2017 which is ages away, going by my last one which had a battery life of 7yrs, I lasted 6 1/2yrs. So roughly going by that, it would make my new replacement will take place from Sept 2015. I,m starting to feel my pa...

Have been back in touch with my Cardiologist re' more monitoring and/or another treadmill/settings visit.

Had 3months on meds for tachy (PMT)now off them but have gone back to feeling almost as bad as before the good visit.
Has anyone had similar ? did more tweaking help or any other procedures . At my lowest ebb as I do...

Hi
I posted recently re some concerns I was having eg, breathless on exertion, light headed , tired and having hair loss. This has increased again since I have started back more active again. Now 6 weeks post implant. Was told I had SSS and have dual chamber pacemaker in plae.
Was told upper chamber pacing 99% of the time and lower very little.. Lower rate reduced down from 60 to 55 and more sensitive setting applied to response rate.
Spoke with Dr , He is unsure why I am now bac...

Check In with the cardio, and my pacer is still going strong with 8yrs left on the battery life. My cardio then asked if he could use me as a "poster child" for earlier implantation in cases like mine. The medical community has a very hmmm....let's wait and see approach when it comes pacers in the under 50 crowd, unless you are DOA I have noticed. My cardio is pushing for that to change, when appropriate, because I have no doubt that without the pacer, I wouldn't be able to live my life the w...

For how long after the procedure should ice packs be used, 20 minutes on, 20 minutes off?
Is the purpose for doing so only to prevent swelling... or more likely for the pain? - Of course a painkiller was prescribed so that should deal with that not the ice per se.

Good Day Pacemaker club members
I am a Product Design student at University and for my current project I am designing a communication device, and I have chosen to make something for people that have had a pacemaker or internal defibrillator fitted. A little background info, I have a family member that has a Defib fitted so I have been able to find out quite a lot of information from them about living with one. What I have taken an interest in to is how Doctors are able to collect informati...

I'm going in for my 6 week checkup tomorrow and to adjust some of the settings of my Medtronic MRI dual lead pacemaker. I have been searching through previous posts and the internet for some answers on the rate response and whether or not I need it on and if so what are some recommendations for the settings. I was diagnosed with SSS and bradycardia; 44 year old female runner. I am on no medications. right now my rate response is on ADL/Exertion responses are both at 3; medium Low activity th...
