my first check-up!

I had my first pm check-up today and I think it went fairly well. I got a lot of my questions answered and they lowered the voltage and reduced my rr feature. Hopefully this will help. The question I have is during the check-up I could see the computer screen and it had 1 alert flashing. The rep clicked on it and it said "high venticular beat detected". I did not get to ask about it because she quickly clicked it off and we were talking about something else. Does anyone know what that means? I a...

Pacemaker Check Ups

Hi to Everyone who sent me messages about feeling faint at pm check ups. I have read everyone of the messages and have taken advice from all.
Thank you all for your swift reply, and yes I did feel faint again today, but no one could tell me why. I am in England and our NHS is quite diffo from other countries, we seem to be far behind for our technology, Never mind, I am still here to tell the story. Once again Thank you good people

Pacemaker check-ups

Hi there everyone
I am again going for my pm check up tomorrow. Does anyone else have a fainting feeling when having pm checked. I mentioned it to my technician and he cant understand why I get these feelings but nothing is done about it.
I dont quite understand what happens when being calibrated in (now had a pm for over 22 years) and still dont understand.
It is as though they slow heart rate down really low and I feel faint as if I dont have a pm, then I feel ok again.

pacemaker too sensitive? help...

I have a question that I asked my doctor at the hospital after my first night with the pm which was three weeks ago. I didn't really get an answer and it is still bothering me.
My heart rate will drop and pacemaker will send a volt and then heart rate jumps up to 80 or 90. Then it will work it's way back down and pacemaker will send a volt and heart jumps up again like it got shocked almost. This goes on and on for hours somketimes. It is very distracting. The doctor said that it was my he...

High rate pacing - I'm confused

Before my 4th ablation, my heart rate would rise on it's own during exercise and my natural sinus node would take over for the entire duration of increased activity.
My pacemaker was used rarely and only in times when my heart rate was low. I had mostly high rate rhythms but occasional low rates as well- mostly due to beta blockers.
Now after my 5th ablation, I'm paced the majority of the time in my right atrium and I don't take any heart rhythm medications.
I've had SO many ablat...

too many changes...

Hi everyone! Its me again...i was wondering if any one knows if changing your pacemaker setting a lot has any effect on your heart. Since i had my pacemaker implanted i have not had a setting that has lasted more than a couple of months. My doc says it may take some time to get the correct settings for me and my heart problems. I was wondering if any one has had this happen as well and if it is normal to keep having my settings changed after 3 years so often. As you may already know, i have comp...

High Heart Rate

I got my new Medtronic Adapta about six weeks ago. This is my second pm for my Kappa lasted seven & half years.
My old one had the perfect settings for me from begining.
This one have been tweaked four times EP & factory rep.I think the Adapta has so many new features that getting the setting right is diffcult.Walking upstairs my heart will be 90 but I am breathing good.
Would love to hear your views.Settings has been changed a few times.Only my pulse rate is high compared to my K...

Appointment!

Ok, well the doctor I saw today actually cared about me! So refreshing!!!! The first thing he said (well, besides greeting us) was (in my own words) "Well, your legs look mottled and your hands have a bluish tint. I am pretty sure you have Raynaud's Disease." I figured that out months ago! And then he said that my slow heavy heart beats may be caused due to a possibly ill - calibrated sleep mode on my pacer, which is programmed to go down to 50 b.p.m. So, he turned it off! I am still feeling the...

Moving to England....anyone know a great cardiologist??

I think i'm moving to England in the next few months. I'll be close-ish to London, so more than happy to make to commute for a great specialist.

If anyone knows of one, preferably that deals with young patients, or patients of NCS, please pass on their details!!!

Thanks
Lyds

Surprised that follow up not sooner

I received my ICD on April 7, 2009. I had a wound check on April 17. When I left the doctor's office they said they'd let me know when the follow up was. I heard from them and they scheduled my follow up for 3 mos. That seemed kind of long with no intermediate follow up following the implant. What's the norm that most of you have heard about that first post implant follow up timing?

blue hands etc update

Hey guys.
So I went to see my consultant about my blue hand and what I thought were palpitations and all is good. He said that my blue hands were nothing to worry about as it is probably Reynards disease which is a good thing in a way. And the 'palpitations' - he said that even though I have a dual pacemaker, my ventricular lead isnt turned on. BUT it can still pace from time to time if it thinks it needs to. So this is what he thinks is happening because he says that when the ventricul...

Isn´t my average pacing HR very slow?

Hi my friends, I had an EKG holter monitor two weeks ago and it siggests that my PM generate the beating at all time so I am 100% dependant (beacuse of SA and AV node ablations). I have a question - it showed that my average HR is just 67/min. Isn´t it very slow? I said to my doc that the HR is not going up very much when I am active and do something, but he didn´t say a word. My setting is 60-140/min, but it never went to 140. Do you think that 67/min is slow for me? I am 23 years old and would...

About Nagging...

When you post 'go nag' nag some more; keep nagging, etc; are seeing the Dr. more than 1 time in 3 months?

My insurance dictated that I could not see the cardiologist (insurance would not pay for the visit) until 3 months after the pm surgery.

At the 3 month appointment, there were problems and I was told to come back in 6 months. At that point, I may be able to start dialing in for the pm interrogation and see the Dr 1 time a year.

Are you seeing (nagging) the...

Min heart rate setting

With my first pacemaker, 1997 Medtronic I had a resting pulse of 80 and no problems for 9 years until I needed a new battery in 2006. Got a St Jude and now my resting pulse is around 62. Here's my problem, I frequently have episodes of what I call pulse pauses, pauses happen 4 to 6 times a minute, where the next pulse is a bit late, but immediately returns to normal again for awhile until the next pause. This is very annoying and quite uncomfortable and goes on for many hours. Seems to me if my...
