We have a pacer in Dalkey (Hi Rob!) who knows a good venue, but I'm sure this can be discussed futher. Please let me know if anyone is interested, there's 3 of us so far (from Dalkey, Donegal and Galway) but there must be more of you out there ........... drop me a line with any thoughts, thanks and look forward to hearing from you ......

Hi, I'm 49 and got my pc on June 28th. I am not so aware of it at home but am leary about going out. When i have gone out I feel the need to put my hand over my pc as I feel it 10 times more. I feel the weight, skin tight and slight pains. Is this normal? I haven't been back for my 1st pc check yet so I feel stupid asking them these things as I'm sure they think it's all in my head. Probably right about some of it. How long before you guys started driving? I have MVP,CHF, restrictive cardiomathy...

Hello Everyone,
Let me tell you all about myself.
I am 40 years old, weigh 211(down from 245 last year), and have had CFS for the last 8 years. During this time I had the swollen lymph nodes, pressure in head, vertigo, forgetfulness, trouble finding the right word, unrelenting fatigue, palpatations, low blood pressure, and low temperature.
My primary care physician never, and I mean never, requested any tests for me other than the complete blood count, thyroid, a...

Had a CRT-D installed one month ago. Before the procedure I asked the doctor to try my two way ham radio to see it it interfered. It did not; however I don't know how close to the device the radio was when he transmitted with it. I will ask next appointment.
The radio transmits on 144 Mc with an output of 5 watts.
Cell phones are typically 300 milliwatts so the (my) radio has 15 times as much RF output. And cell phones are on 800 Mc or in the GHz range, for whatever differe...

Hi all, I will try to keep my posting as small as possible as I vent my concerns and appeal for help.
I have had an attack of ill feeling (skipped beats) in my chest and was concerned enough to go to the hospital as they became more frequent and repeatative over a 48 hour period. I could feel an irregular pulse and became concerned. I am only pacing 5 or 6% of the time, having the pacer inserted 6 months ago. The hospital took bloods after assessing my vitals. All looked good except fo...

Hi pacers
Thank you all for the Birthday wishes. As you know we live in country Australia. I am truly blessed with so many friends via this wonderful site.
My day was spent with my family - Husband, daughter and grandson. We had a special dinner at home which we all prepared. Fish. Then a lovely cheesecake. It was a truly great evening to sit down to a wonderful meal together.
It is lambing season. We have an orphan in a cage in the entry hall to the hou...

Hey everyone...first post here.
I am 32 and after a lifetime of heart complications due to a congital heart defect I had an ablasion, a patch to fix a valve, a stint to widen a different valve and a pacemaker all 3 weeks ago. I am new here so im not sure how easy it is to search so forgive me if this has been asked and answered.
Do pacemakers affect cell phones? ie feedback etc?
Can I still enjoy roller coasters and things of that nature?
Thanks...

I have a biventricular synchronising pacemaker with only two of the 3 possible leads fitted due to incurable atrial fibrillation. The two leads that I have had fitted are pacing the ventricles at between 70 and 120 beats per minute. Has anyone had thier pacemaker replaced with a similar condition as I am a little concerned that my heart will stop dead when the leads are removed from my old pacemaker and that could cause sudden death. I am of course pacemaker dependant due to the av node ablation...

Hi Folks!
I'm a new member here. Just came in for a little support.
I'm a 47 year old man who had my first pacemaker implanted in 1999 when I was 39 because of a 3rd degree heart block.
Tomorrow I go into Cedar Sinai Medical Center in LA, Ca. for my first battery replacement. Doc says it's a pretty easy outpatient procedure. But, for some reason I'm having more anxiety over this battery change than I did the original implant.
I'm sure many of you have...

I want to post an update on how I'm progressing. I'm 47 and got my pm in March for bradychardia. The surgery went well but I had a few tough weeks where I didn't think I'd ever get my life back again. But since that time things have gotten so much better. It just takes time, patience, and lots of encouragement, and it definatly was tougher that the doctors say. But I did get back to work(teacher), then my second job(painter), did a week and scout camp with my son, and tomorrow I take my fi...

Hi Everyone....
Hope this finds everyone doing fine. I appreciated all your comments with questions I've had in the past and hope that you won't mind helping me again.
My cardiologist and EP have given me 3 options in regard to my chronic a-fib. I had an open heart Cox Maze procedure in Feb '06 and an ablation and PM (unexpected) in July '06.....in spite of these procedures, I still get bouts of a-fib just about everyday. My heart rate will rang from 60-145. They feel th...

A little humor for a serious subject that Michael Moore thinks he just brought to our attention.
Q. What does HMO stand for?
A. This is actually a variation of the phrase , "HEY MOE." Its roots go back to a concept pioneered by Moe of the Three Stooges, who discovered that a patient could be made to forget the pain in his foot if he was poked hard enough in the eye.
Q. I just joined an HMO . How difficult will it be to choose the doctor I want?

This article was found in News Scientist.
Life-saving medical implants like pacemakers and defibrillators face a big drawback: their batteries eventually run out. So every few years, patients need surgery to have the batteries replaced.
Now a company in New York state is planning to tackle the problem by providing patients with an implantable power source that recharges their implant's batteries using electricity generated by the patient's own body heat.

Hi everybody, my name is Kevin, Im 47 and for the last year I have been living in Cyprus. Around the 15th of June 2007 I suddenly started to have strange and irregular heartbeats with accompanying dizzy spells and slight loss of vision and also a feeling of hot blood swelling and rising to my ears,. This happened only over the course of a few days, prior to that I have had no heart trouble other than an odd beat or palpitation here and then. I decided to go the local hospital on the 18th and ha...

Hello Folks,
I have a question for you good people. Have any of you undergone external counterpulsation (EECP) to treat your angina? I have a pacemaker, CHF, attacks of angina and since about mid-March I have had more than a fair share of arrhythmia episodes to the point that my physical activity has become almost nil. The arrhythmia is likely to occur anytime, but I have learned the hard way that physical activity, as simple as walking a couple of blocks, will bring on an episode...
