Pacemaker tachycardia

Recently had rapid rate increases when moving. Heart rate remains higher than usual for long periods. Has persisted for last 4 days. When resting with low rate if I tap my pacemaker my heart rate jumps rapidly  and continuosly as long as I keep tapping. Not on rate response & not pacemaker dependent. Should you be able to do this? Are they that sensitive to movement? Have device check due in 2 weeks.

How to manage a patient like Michael?

Hello everyone, thank you all for your kind messages of support for Michael and for me.   Michael has been in hospital since Easter Sunday.  We had a 4+ hour wait in A&E which was gruelling but when we got called in to see the doctor we received excellent care and a fast referral to the Acute Medical Ward (Cardiology).

Michael was found to be suffering predominantly from high blood sugar levels due to uncontrolled diabetes, causing a range of difficult symptoms. ...

BLUETOOTH EAR BUDS

Hi

Can anyone advise if wearing wireless earbuds is ok with a pacemaker device in situ in the chest area please. Sounds bizarre but I'm purchasing a new phone and I want the lilac version. The present offer is free earbuds worth £140. Obviously too good to turn down. Who doesn't like a freebie. BUT do I order the lilac to match the phone which is pointless if I can't use them?. Or do I still take advantage of the buds but order them in black so I can pass them on...

Thanks for the informations.  I have an Abbot monitor and it is not connected to my phone.  It is too large for a suitcase.  I am only leaving for 6 days and I think I will leave it at home.

So grateful

I had a pacemaker put in a bit over a week ago.  I still have a few restrictions, but for the most part I can go on with my life.

I want to say how grateful I am to have the opportunity to get a pacemaker.  I realize that if I had lived a few decades ago, or if I lived in a different part of the world or a more challenging economic situation, it's likely I would have to live and die with a very low heart rate.  I feel so much better now - I didn't realize how bad...

Pacemakers and Museums

This post recounts an experience I had toward the end of March. In the afternoon, we went to the Farnsworth Museum in Rockland. After about an hour of walking slowly and quietly around, viewing the paintings, I began to feel a little faint and tired, so I sat down on one of their benches. Felt better after a few minutes, and continued viewing paintings. Felt tired after another few minutes, so sat down. This happened again, before I figured out what was happening.

Since I was so quiet a...

St Jude/Abbott leads with Medtronic Pacemaker??

I am due shortly to have my 10 year old St Jude dual chambered pacemaker replaced (being in ERI) and have had the bedside Merlin unit connected to our home landline doing the monitoring (cellular became at option at one point but required a monthly subscription and AT&T signals are poor in our area so I've kept with landline). This has worked well, except that we travel internationally to see friends/family for over two weeks at a time several times per year--during which there is no...

New PM - had an alarming situation

I am a 50 yo man and I had a biotronic PM (dual chamber) put in 2 days ago.  This is my first PM and it was put in only for a slow heart rate.  I was symptomatic with lightheadedness and lack of energy.  It went in without complications.

This morning my wife was driving me to church and after about 10 minutes in the car I felt a very strong weird feeling and my Apple watch told me my HR was at 120 bpm.  It was VERY uncomfortable and within a few minutes it went back...

Hospital with the best reputation for treating sick sinus bradycardia

I often say that I have seen the best heart doctor in my city, which doesn't mean I have seen the best heart doctor.  I have a PM because after much testing for the reason it felt like an elephant was sitting on my chest during any kind of exertion it was discovered that my pulse was not keeping up with me.  Electrical malfunction was how it was explained. Or sick sinus bradycardia.  I will admit it is better now.  However, after many adjustments I still can't perf...

Scared Newbie

Hi all...

I went to my ER on Friday early AM with what I thought was food poisoning from a dodgy Harvey's, and 12 hours later after a code blue, I had a pacemaker fitted.

I had a complete heart block, I'm 48 female, with no prior issues in my health or heart, no high cholesterol or blood pressure .. so I'm reeling at the moment. The cardiologist had no answers as to why this happened but is willing to keep investigating.

Things feel very differe...
