A hard working man, never having time to spend with his son. One day would understand how important it was to walk by his side. After years of ignoring his son he one day was forced to a choice of seeing his son and understanding his presence in his life. He decides to take time out from his busy schedule to spend father and son moments together. Everyday, him and his son would walk through this open field and they would stop at a rock where his son use to love playing on. Both of them look...

Hello,
Would anyone be able to suggest/reccomend any companies that will provide life insurance? I am finding it really difficult to get a policy for myself because of my pacemaker. Thank you!

Hi Y'all,
I just found this site by way of the Medtronics site.
On February 7 I had open heart surgery to take care of 5 bypasses. On May 5 I had my first bout of AF that lasted about 8 hours. After a few days I was released to go back to work as a truck driver then on Memorial Day weekend had my second AF bout. This one only lasted about 90 minutes but it put me off work again.
This past Monday I had my PM implanted set at 60 bpm. It's a Medtronics Enrhythm. The Med...

A researcher at LDS Hospital says he has dispelled a myth that has prevented some women from receiving a life-saving heart device.
John Day, a cardiologist who specializes in heart rhythm abnormalities, said there is an erroneous perception among doctors that women don’t benefit as much as men from heart-failure pacemaker defibrillators, which strengthen the h...

Has anyone in our group developed Breast cancer in the breast with the PM? I am going for a biopsy (& removal of lump) for IBC next week. I have been informed that my PM will have to be turned off for the surgery an dif I require radiation the PM will have to be relocated to my stomach.
I am very scared about the possiblity of BC but now even more worried about the PM (Which is reality new only 8 months. )

Hello,
Recently I posted about my endless pain with my pacemaker and my chest.
Queen beez--thank you, thank you, thank you for your concern! Thank you also to everyone else for your concern as well, especially Cathy. I have not gone to the ER, but just yesterday my internist at the large medical center I go to for my pacer did a test for d-dimer--which is a test to rule out blood clots.
About an hour after my blood was drawn, my doctor called me very concerned. D...

I posted the other day on something that took the family by storm. My auntie had a acute heart attack. She was sweating and her chest was hurting so bad. She couldn't go up the stairs and decided to call her son to take her to the hospital. After taking her to the hospital they did and EKG and the nurse ripped the paper out of the EKG machine and took off out of the room. My cousin was a bit confused and frighten. Few minutes later and they rushed her to the back and gave her a room. Righ...

Ok, here is a semi-dumb question. How long after your PM is implanted is it supposed to be check? I not talking about the surgical site, but the PM itself? I thought 8 weeks, before the magic wand gets hung around my neck again? I have a Medtronic Adapta. Help????
Thanks

I was wondering if anybody had information or experience with hybrid cars or keyless entry. I know that the engines of hybrids have strong, but shielded, electromagnetic shields. They are supposed to be safe, but I want to know for sure as I am considering purchasing a hybrid.
I have also heard that keyless entry in cars produces a field that can interfere with a pacer. Has anybody heard anything about that?
Thanks,
Carissa

Forgot to mention that I am doing well. Came home Friday & am always glad to be back in my home with my hubby and especially my dog. They really get you up and going with a joint replacement these days! More pain this time than with the right one 4 years ago but the left was ever so much more involved (a train wreck as the surgeon said). Should not have waited so long. Anyway, it is now behind me and I am so happy, looking forward to a quick recovery. Physical therapy in the hospital bega...

Hello Everyone - A great big thank you to everyone who wished me well on my knee replacement. And, especially to our little Valerie. I have never, ever been as astonished, surprised, astounded, etc. as when she walked into my hospital room not long after my surgery! God could not have sent a better angel! She is surely one of the most special people I have ever known and to think she is just 21. We will see really great things from her as she continues her education & begins her career. Sh...

Hello,
I wanted to ask you if you've ever been through a Triple Bypass Surgery. My aunt had a acute heart attack this passed Saturday. I'm very upset because she's like my second mother to me. My heart went out to her yesterday, the doctors had to do a Balloon and place a stent in her to open up the blockage. She feels and looks great. They said, she needs to have a triple bypass surgery. I was wondering what to expect from the post operation issues. I'm very; very hurt by t...

Hi: I want to share with you a bad experience I had last week.
My wife and I were on a guided tour through Italy. For those not familiar with this, over there guides provide their "flock" with radio receivers walky-talky like, so that the guide proceeds with his/her explanations and the group gets the info even if they get mixed, as they usually do,with another crowd of tourists. I was given one of these things, hung it round my neck and we proceeded on a short slope towards the ruins of P...

I have problems with exercising (I have a recent post entitled "Chronotropic Incompetence"). I am asking for some advice on how to go about choosing a doctor to implant a PM. I started with an interventional cardio. who was very open minded in sending me to an EP. It took a couple of years to reach the diagnosis that a PM is what I need. Should I use an EP or the interventional cardio? Should I base my decision also on the device manufacturer used? To complicate things I just read an article fro...

Hello again, everyone. Thank you to all who responded. I forgot to mention in my post that my doctor is with a large university medical center, in fact one of the biggest in the country and listed as the "best" in my state. So going to another for a second opinion is very difficult for me, especially as I also rely on public aid (medical) in my state to help me (if they do, that is).
I also have concerns about a possible blood clotting issue because the swelling in my arm just began o...
