Palpitations / Anxiety
Hi im new,im 29 and live in Shropshire UK, had my PM fitted April'09, bit of a whirlwind, long story short:
Had 1st son July'03 thats when i first noticed what i call palpitations, extra beats / missed beats / thumping in chest and in throat.
They would come and go with no patten to them, so i went to DR and she did ECG and said they were innocent extra beats and not to worry.
Had 2nd son Jan'09 and they came back again and not really gone away since.
So sin...

Hi,
My husband is 42 and just got a PM last week. He had surgery for Afib and his heart went into 3rd degree block after. We are a very active couple - hiking, fishing, (he hunts), skiing, etc. I have read lots of posts here, but was hoping for some support from other young people with PMs to let us know this won't impede our lifestyle. It's all new to us and we are a little "freaked out" by the whole prospect of this. And, he also builds furniture as a hobby and lives in his woodshop. Eve...

This morning for the first time since I had my implant (back at the end of May) I got hit with what felt like multiple events of my heart wanting to nap. On the first one, sure enough, sat down and took my pulse and I was way down, right at where my pacer would take over. Stayed there for a little while and then went back up. About 45 minutes later, boom same thing but not so severe (didn't have to actually sit down and no dizziness but did feel it happening). So the good news is the pacer a...
I'm tired
Hi Everyone,
I am new on this board so I don't know if this is the right place to post this but I am hoping someone might have some suggestions. I got my dual PM/Defib a year and a half ago and feel worse after the surgery. Prior, my ej frac was 20% but I was asymptomatic. They think it is postpartum cardiomyopathy and fortunately, I had no symptoms whatsoever. They caught the enlarged heart through an xray when I had pneumonia. I had the device implanted and felt horrible for 3 weeks.....

A few days ago I posted I was fed up with having cath's done, basicly the reason was they informed me there were still blockages and couple new ones, yet they did nothing, no stenting.. Apparently Medicare and my supplemental Insurance will not cover any stenting or by pass procedure unless there is dam near total blockage, this to me is crazy but the way it was explained to me yesterday when i finally went off in doctors office, has any one else ran into this issue?

i am glad to see that more people are expressing their true feelings. a lot of people are scared and lonely and unsure of what today will bring. one word from a member might keep this persons faith up . instead of degrading them for 'feeling sorry for themselves or pittying themselves'' we should open our minds and our hearts to them. none of of know what goes on in a persons life or how much they have been through or how hopeless they feel. we're not just here for pep talks and telling people t...

Okay, so people have been telling me to write a book for a long time now, they all want to know how I deal with things as a teenager. The daily struggles I have and basically how I get through the things that average teenagers do. I sat down and started thinking about what I could say and how to say it. I came to the conclusion that there is no possible way to do this book alone. I need input from everyone, things you go through things we need to talk about I basically need you guys to give me t...
How Exercise Healed my Emotional Pain
I thought that he was close to death. I had been running 25 miles per week for nearly 30 years. One day I had to stop my run because I felt out of breath and faint. The next day I would then run my complete route without problem only to be plagued with nearly passing out a week or so later. I thought the problem originated in my stomach. Then I believed in was all in my head and finally I discovered the terrifying and beautiful truth. If you would like more information about the book I hav...
UGH!
I can't, for the life of me, believe how much bigger this pacemaker is from my last one. Jeez, and I thought I had a noticeable bump then? HA! Now I have a third boob. LOL.
I wonder if it's because of what's in the left margin.

Oh, and goodbye one inch scar........

I CAN'T BELIEVE THIS IS HAPPENING
I have not felt just right since coming home from my pacemaker upgrade. I finally got fed up with early this morning, and thought I'd get it checked out before going to the Tampa Event. The ER called Medtronic, and we arranged a meeting at my cardiologist's office later in the day since it was 2AM.
I went home.
I show up at my cardiologist's office to meet the Medtronic pacer rep and the receptionist hands me an order for a Chest X-ray.
I go for my chest x-ray. The order stated ST...
NEED ADVICE
I just had my pacemaker put it this past Thursday September 18th. I am 32 years old and I am in great physical shape. I normally work out in the gym 3-5 times a week lifting weights. The pacemaker was put into to keep my heart rate from dropping to the 30s...which happens when I have blackout. My normal rate is low because I am good health. It is normally around 44-58 resting. However, they set my pacemaker at 60 which means my heart rate will not go below 60 to what it is normally use to b...
Thanks for comments
Thanks to all who gave me feedback on my questions - it has certainly reduced my anxiety!! I think that what I thought was a heart beat or the pacemaker kicking in is, in fact, a nearby nerve being somehow activated. I have noticed that the "beat" comes on in response to certain changes of position of my chest and left arm and will stop fairly quickly if I again change my position. The pain in the wound site is now at the "nuisance" stage and I am no longer reliant on analgesics. However, I...
Wierd side effects of PM
I have just had a dual chamber PM inserted 4 days ago. I have noticed that at times I feel something like a "nerve tic" or heart beat located in region of right atrium. It seems like a heart beat or like the PM kicking in, but I was told I wouldn't feel anything when that happened. This feeling comes and goes but is more apparent on exertion and can last for up to an hour. Is this normal? Also, I have had a strange pressure feeling at the back of my throat since the PM insertion, not really...

I never experienced any sleep problems prior to the PM.
Anyone have similar problems?

Can't afford insurance anymore!
Does everyone out there have health insurance? For the first time in my life I can not longer afford my health insurance due to ecomomic down turn.
I have applied for the State Insurance for low income people, but it appears that I will be denied. Right now my premuim, just for me is $2,000 a quarter because of my pacemaker and it seems that my ONLY choice is to allow my health insurance to expire as I do nto have any resources to obtain this money at this time.
I am marr...
