Disability

I know that having a pacemaker does not qualify a person to be considered disabled... but what would if a person has been a pacemaker dependent for over 34 years? And no longer has the same energy anymore..

Typical symptoms?

I'm happy to find this group. I had a pacemaker installed 10 weeks ago for a complete AV block. I've been having a twinge/flutter sensation in left lower chest which is sometimes associated with a mild light headedness. My doctors office evaluated my remotely sent data and said I had no events. But, they are not interested in evaluating me in person or explaining my symptoms. Wondering if this is a common, familiar symptom?

How do you decide when it is time to seek emergency medical help?

As a pacemaker or ICD patient how do you decide when to go to the Emergency Room/Accident & Emergency department of your nearest hospital?  What are the red flags for you personally with your heart condition?

I think this is an important question because we all have different levels of tolerance to symptoms like chest pain, an arrhythmia, feelings of breathlessness, instability and near loss of consciousness.  Some of us may even wonder if we have had a stroke after experi...

Heart Rate has increased

For about 6 years my PM, which is set at 60, has paced between 50-75% of the time. (My first one lasted only 3 years and I was 100% dependent because a wire had come loose)

My blood pressure is normal. O2 sats are great. But lately my pulse has run at a steady 70-72 bpm. I didn't think things could change (less pacing) without something else occurring.

The only thing in my life that has changed is I've become walker dependent due to sciatica and disk issues. Pain is high....

OK Guys Just saw the EP Again.

Just read several threads hearing people are nervous but getting good advice and comments from the familiar names. I am still nervous, but set for last week in January for insertion. I am still steady as a clock at resting rate of 40 and speeding up over 100 when I exercise. I have no pauses. Got an Apple Watch for Christmas! I have narrow QRS junctional rhythm and slow aFib with complete heart block just to remind ya'll.

Now that I will get the low he...

Monitoring 'events'

I was recently advised that I had five 'events' three while at rest, two during activity.  The longest one lasting 11 seconds.   I have no idea what an 'event' is.  Should I be concerned?   I asked my cardiologist this question and was told it was 'nothing to worry about' with no other explanation.   If anyone can give me some details about this I would really appreciate it.  Thank you.

Mammogram

Hi - I had my 1st mammogram 8 months after my biotronik edora was implanted. I would say it did not go well on the pm side. It hurt and felt like the pm was being crushed and the rad tech was very accommodating.  I am wondering how others did, I know its not the end of the world and I did survive but it was honesty a major BUG OUT!

pacemaker

Every 8 hours, to the minute, I have a pacing feeling in my neck.  8:15 PM, 4:15 AM and 12:15 PM.  The feeling is not painful or accompaied by any other physical sensations.  It is clearly coming from the pacemaker due to the prcise timing.  No natual body function has a precise clock.

Any ideas??

new years resolution

Wishing everyone a better new year.

My resolution is to learn to ignore the "inner child" when she says it is ok to eat these  two slices of pizza or a couple of pieces  of rye bread.  When the adult in me says no, it is not good for my A-fib episodes.

Just looked around my home nothing like that is here.

Will keep you posted on how we do.

XMAS - 2023πŸ™

Hello All,

Bit late about Xmas wish list for Pacemaker manufacturers-engineeries...but here is mineπŸ€—  All your wish list posts are great and valid;  however even if they did all exist, I for one didn't know what was going to happen to me (my first and last fainting) I hope πŸ™πŸ»πŸ€......so choosing options was out for me and perhaps πŸ€” for many of you 😊

I have received Medtronic dual lead in 2016 for Ventricular Standstill & Brad...

1% pacing only - removal of PM ?

Hello!

Our child got her PM 2 years ago after syncopes and faintings. 11 seconds pauses at night.

Complete heart block with unclear cause. Never any heart issues before. Meanwile doctors believe it was caused by mild Covid or another virus and it might be recovered.

Since it was implantated it always only had 1% performance. The 1% can result from the daily self checks or it can be that the PM has to do its job, but very seldomly. Nobody could tell us so far if the pm...

While in ICU I had Ventricular pauses - standstill and the rest is history ❀️ I am super fit and active all my life...now 71yo. Feel actually grateful to the whole episo...

Pacing or...?

Hi all! Merry Christmas Eve!

Sooo...I primarily had my device implanted 4 years ago for the ICD function but I also have the pacemaker function. Today, I was just resting on the couch and I got a little startled by what felt like a small electrical impulse. It felt a bit like what it feels like when they test my device at checkups. I have a little device at home that can check your pulse, so my husband put it on my finger almost right away. My pulse was in the 50's at...

A Christmas Wish

Hello everyone, if you could change one or two things about your pacemaker, what would it be and what message would you send to your pacemaker manufacturer?

My message would be:

Dear Medtronic, My husband and I would both like to know if you could develop a pacemaker setting that could prevent a fall in our blood pressure like you have so successfully developed to prevent a fall in our heart rate?  We are taking blood pressure and heart rate reducing meds but very occ...
