Kind of concerned

I have a particular health plan that is known for being especially "budget conscious"

Anyway I had my Pacemaker placed in 2006 for Cardioneurogenic Syncope diagnosed on a Tilt table (with Asystole that was reversed.) I have a couple of unrelated chronic health conditions but my heart has no known "intrinsic pathology."

When I joined this Health Plan in 2007 the Cardiologist saw me once that year, and then once in 2008 and in 2009. I have never been seen by a Cardiolog...

PM Follow Up

Hey everyone, I'm pretty excited here. I'm a month post op and am believing now I am not just on an adrenaline rush, but am actually feeling so much better after the PM has been inserted. I am a teacher so I am super anxious to get to a new school year so I can be feeling alive again in the classroom. I was forcing it and trying so very hard before but did not know why I was on such a low and feeling so zapped. Ha, ha, one cannot fake having energy with a low heart rate.

Fatigue

Hi everyone. It is now 23 days since I had pacemaker fitted and I an tired all the time. With a small amount of movement I get tired. I had to go to hospital for unrelated tests yesterday. I was driven there and home again. I was exhausted for the rest of the day. I was starting to think it was laziness, but having seen posts on this site I have read that some people experience this. I am learning all the time about my PM, mainly from this site. I see that some people have had their PM settings...

Raising upper limit

Just had a check up/ setting meeting today. New Medtronic tech rep. He's very cooperative. I explained my problem of fatigue upon little exertion. Thanks to the people on this site, I was able to have an intelligent conversation with him. He called my Dr. and they agreed to raise my UL from 120 to 130. I realize it's only a small step, but I'll call him in a few weeks for another increase if necessary.
I thought my RR was on. He said it was NOT, but he did turn it on today.
Let's see w...

I am now a "problem patient"

My daughters went with me to appt. w' EP & Medtronic rep. They told us that they don't set up the carelink monitor with the new device for a month to let the heart adjust to new PM. we were concerned due to a 3 hour event late at night and I was unable to send in a remote check. First they said the new PM was incompatible with mold monitor, than they said it WAS compatible & to send in a Remote check transmission at 9 that night, which I did. I didn't hear M-Thurs. if it went through or not. T...

60/130 rate, what does it really mean?

I read somewhere from previous posts that the PM does not LOWER your heart rate, it only increases it. So, what does a rate setting 60/130 really mean? Can someone take me back to the basics and really explain what the PM does when these numbers are set? I thought I understood what these settings mean, but I'm more confused about it the more I think about it.
That's why I need to go back to the basics and understanding it more thoroughly so that I can communicate better with the PM tech...

Maybe I need rate response

I'm pretty new to this and learning, 4.5 weeks after Tectronics dual mode PM install. Was told it was a rate responsive model. I have total AV block, so my PM is totally pacing my ventricles. All is good doing things around the house, my HR increases as expected. Last week I did a trial walk in my neighborhood. Short story is that going up hill I get short of breath, feel like I'm walking with weights on my legs and my HR drops into the low 60's and stays there until I get back to my recl...

Merlin Transmitter EX1150

Good Morning All...just a question about my new Merlin Transmitter. I was told it would read my device at nite while I am sleeping. I have been awake at all hours but never saw the transmitter transmit. Does it blink, or anything but the little green light on the bottom right? I need to get some sleep and not keep trying to catch Merlin at work. Thanks.

Rate Response question

I read archived posts about bouncy roads vibration triggers an episode which is what I experience. Every time, I get into my small car and drive through certain roads that are bouncy, my heart rate would be out of sync at first, then gradually turned into an episode. Is it the rate response feature that is causing this? Do I need to have the rate response turned on? Can I just have it turned off if I have what they call Sinoatrial Node Dysfunction? I had my PM back in March this year. It ha...

Feeling tired

I received my PM in Jan 2013 and within a week felt wonderful. Like new again. This week I can sense my heart out of rhythm. I feel much better than I used to when that happened and can still work around the house. But I wondered if this is common? Can your heart still revert back to the AFib even if only for a little while. I guess I thought with a PM it never happened again. Thanks to anyone who has an answer.

Settings and New

Hi, I'm new and confused. Everyone is telling me I will feel so much better now that I have my PM. I was having a lot of faint, dizzy spells, passed out once at home, no energy, fatigue, etc. I went for a tilt table test and my heart flat lined and they had to pace my heart or whatever you call it to start back up. I was told I had to have a PM. Three weeks ago I had a dual chamber pacemaker put in. The DR said the settings is set to kick in when my heartbeat falls below 40. So I take it...

Very tired

I am 4 weeks post having a biventricular Pacemaker, CRT-P.

I still get very tired, my pacemaker is set at 60-130, are they likely to change it, I have an appointment at the pacing clinic in 3 weeks, are they likely to change this setting? or leave it. I have found I cannot walk as far as I could before I was fitted with the pm. I suffer with Paroxamol Af and I had started to pass out when in Af.
Regards,
Beth

Experiences with closed-loop stimulation

Hi!

I was wondering, if anyone of you has a Biotronik pacemaker with closed-loop stimulation (CLS), a special rate response mode, switched on. How do you get along with that - in daily life or when exercising?

I'm in the process of deciding whether to go for a pacemaker with a better rate response, and one of the EPs in my professor's team said that CLS might work for me. However, my cardio, who also implants pacemakers, said he implanted Biotronik pacers with CLS in severa...

Upper set-limit

Hello everybody. I am new to this site, and have read many interesting posts...I had a Syncra three-lead pacemaker implanted Aug 6, 2012, which was set at 50 and 130. I have had three instances when I felt quite strange while taking my morning walk (I used to walk for at least an hour, but am having trouble getting back to that, due to other issues such as Achilles strain and cervical stenosis pain). However, part of the reason is because of these incidents happening; every time I increase m...
