Rate Response

Does anyone else have problems with the rate response setting on their device?  I had to have it switched off on my previous dual chamber pacemaker and now also on my latest CRT D upgrade.  I am 100% paced and it is set at 80.  No matter what the device team did to try and rectify it, if I merely bent down to pick something up from the floor, my rate would soar in seconds to 150.    So I have to have it off, but it means that my rate stays at 80 and I am puffed out do...

Ultrasound Cavitation

Hi all,

I was wondering if someone has been on an Ultrasound Cavitation, so can share their experience.

I am planning to undergo this procedure, but having a pacemaker is a contraindication.

I have asked the technition who is doing the procedure, and she told me that since I am planning to do my legs on the back side and my buttocks, there will be no affection on the pacemaker's work, because it is not near it.

What do you think?

Thanks a lo...

Pacemaker App Research

Hey everyone,

I'm a 24-year-old product designer based in the UK. I've had a pacemaker in my abdomen for 11 years. My first battery change is coming next month, I've been thinking about the new leaps forward in technology (regarding mobile phones, smart devices, and laptops, etc) but there have been little if any advancements in pacemakers.

I have decided to start a side project integrating pacemaker features into a mobile app s...

Bumps in heart rate on HRM associated with PVCs?

I recenty had my pacer reset to allow me to reach a higher maximum HR and subsequently purchased a new Garmin HRM-dual chest strap monitor, thanks to crustyg's recommendation to use a chest strap (EKG)monitor instead of an optical sensor (Wahoo) worn on my arm.  All seemed to go well; HR measured with the Garmin matched carotid pulse while sitting at rest (HR ca 60 bpm).  But every now and then the HR reading on the Garmin would vanish.  I was pretty bummed, but t...

Does RV pacing interfere with chest-strap Heart Rate Monitors

I have a dual chamber St Jude pacer and have been using a Garmin chest-strap heart rate monitor.  I seem to be getting odd measurments of my heart rate (like a precipitous drop in heart rate) when I'm getting paced (at high heart rates).  Is it possible for ventricular pacing to interfere with heart rates measured by chest strap heart rate monitors?

good, bad and ugly

Hello everyone, i saw my EP the other day and reduced my medication and eliminated another. I was on flaccinide 2x a day and metropopol at 12.5 1x a day along with elliquis. Well, the last couple of years the test have shown ive had no irregular arrythmias but occasional pvc most likely from my anxiety. He decided flaccinide once a day with the small amount of metropopol will be fine. Heart rate at around 61 at rest and blood pressure 120/70. I still have bouts of anxiety that im working on s...

Abbott/St Jude RECALL

Does anyone have any further info on this Pacemaker recall?

FDA Recalls 60,000 Abbott Pacemakers Due to Defect (aarp.org) The 61,973 Scalable Bradycardia Platform (SBP) pacemakers were sold under the Assurity and Endurity model names between April 29, 2015, and Feb. 20, 2019. The pacemaker manufacturer was formerly known as St. Jude Me...

Chest Pain after exercise

Hello,

I am 26 years old, have had my icd/pacemaker for 4 years, besides a few episodes of svt, I've been doing great. However, last week I noticed that I would get quite intense left-sided chest pain. The pain only comes after exercise, never during, it feels dull/pressure-like. I know that chest pain can be caused by anything from an actual heart attack to overused muscles. Should I call my doctor, or do nothing as I am young and otherwise healthy? Thank you in adva...

Update now that I can type!

Meds got sorted yesterday.  At midnight Friday after I had what little pain meds they could give me in my system I sent an email off to my "contact". Honestly I was hurting so much I don't remember what I said but I know I just asked for him to check in with me ASAP and that I had a little trouble following a procedure at the cath lab.  I didn't give any deets about the medicine thing etc to him, figured better to explain in person.  However I did complain to...

Rate Response

I just wanted to thank everyone for their response to my questions or concerns, when my heart rate response setting seem to have just quit working.    I did my normal routine the following day with the same results.  Sent in a transmission and since I increased my heart rate over my limits of 135 -145 I was most likely skipping beats..   They are going to increase my settings.   Again thank everyone that responded.   Michelle

Sorry all for spamming you! Update on the update!

So procedure got moved to 3pm, I hate being the last of the day (don't they know I'm starving here!).  Aaaand the bad news is they want to put it subpectoral in my shoulder, and leave me crt-p in due to increased risk of infection if they take it out (risk of infection being 3percent but I am pretty sure it's about the same for the new one they are putting in anyways.  I think they think "well it's coming out hopefully this year she can deal" what they don&...

Pacemaker decision

Hi all, I'm looking for input about overlapping symptoms to see if anybody experienced something similar.  I am constantly exhausted and have brain fog. GP sent me to specialists.  Cardiologist had me wear a monitor and HR was in 20's couple times and then up to 153 another time. He sent me to EP who said I had  Type 2 EV block and was a good candidate for PM .  I told him I was recenlty diagnosed with fibromyalgia and chronic sinus issues which have the...

Pacemaker implant

Had my pacemaker implant 6 weeks ago and my check-up 2 weeks ago.  All was fine and requested to be seen again in one year's time.  However over the past few days I have been experiencing a dull ache from my pacemaker site across my chest into my right shoulder and up into my throat.  It is not a pain and not a tightness but just an ache.  Rang cardio rehab yesterday for advice and was told to call an ambulance as I needed an immediate ECG.  Paramedics arrived and...

One year anniversary of CRT pacemaker

It is one year since I received a CRT -P pacemaker, due to LVSD caused by a dual lead pacemaker. This doesn’t happen often- I was just unlucky! My low ef has improved greatly and after a few spells of feeling unwell I have felt very well since September. Fingers crossed!

I would like to hear from other members with CRT- P pacemakers especially those who have had them for a number of years. If someone wanted to message me privately that would be all right too.

I would also like...

Rate Response

Hello,  I was wondering if someone could explain the Rate Response workings to me?  Brief history, pacemaker implanted 2019 due to Type two heart block.  First symptoms were when I walked for excercise my heart rate would not increase corrrectly.   Even after the pacemaker was implanted still had a problem with heart rate increase during excercise, however the doctor I was seeing would not turn on Rate Response said I did not need it on.    Finally chan...

A gentle reminder to be vigilant

As a caring member of this Club, I would like to gently remind everyone to perhaps be careful when answering new posts.  A few isolated messages that find their way on to the Pacemaker Club “Most Recent Messages” page, may not always be what they might first appear to be.  From my own observation and from messages received from well respected members, evidence of troll like activity is still occasionally occurring and a few posts that appear may be of questionable a...
