max heart rate

Hi I need some help. I had my pacemaker implanted in april of 2011. The problem is when I exercise. When my heart rate reaches 165-170bpm it feels like someone squeezing my heart and tightness in chest. It also becomes hard to breath. As long as my heart rate does not get that high I can run a long time. My low setting is set on 60bpm. Is it possible that my pacemaker has a high setting that will not allow my heart to beat too fast.

Need Technical info

I have had a st jude pm2110 pacemaker for a month. I want to find an information source that will teach me about its functioning. I am a former computer programmer, now retired, and worked with many devices. Is there a technical manual available?

Change in rate

Hello, this is my first posting and I would first like to thank everyone who responds to these questions and concerns...it's so nice to see this supportive community on-line.
I received my PM 5 months ago (for sick sinus syndrome, symptomatic bradycardia) and have been doing fairly well after an initial adjustment period. My rate is set at 60 (previous to the implant, my 'normal' heart rate was in the high 50's to 60's). I am 61 and very active, fit and otherwise healthy. Recently I have s...

Info from the interrogator

What information should I request from the interrogator when he interrogates my PM. I talked about getting a "copy of the report", (whatever that is), at the last session but after much yakety yack, I wound up with nothing. Now that I think about it, I feel he does not want me to have these records.

Rate Response

I have posted on here several times since receiving my pacemaker back in July. Up until last week they had my rate response feature turned on but last week they turned it off because my own heart is doing fine when I expend any energy and my heartrate increases appropriately to whatever I am doing. So my question is what really is my pacemaker doing without the rate response feature being turned on? I know that I got the pacemaker because I was having these 4-5 second pauses, and one 8 second...

Cardiologist discounted me

Hi everyone,
I am new to this forum and glad to find others who are living with a pacemaker. I was shocked two weeks when I had gone to the ER with a sinking feeling, to find out that my heart rate was actually dropping from the high 50's to 30's then skipping back up to the 40's before returning to high 50's and low 60's.

After three days of being monitored in hospital they said the heart rate would not only drop but then stop for three seconds before starting back up again....

First PM Check in Two Weeks

First, a word of THANKS to all of you who have made this web site a success. It provides a wellspring of information for us newbies.

Two weeks ago I had a Boston Scientific Altura 60 DDDR implanted -- with a low heart rate set at 70. I've notice some immediate improvements -- increased energy, restore strength, better circulation in hands and feet. Overall, I'm very satisfied with my PM and the improvements it has made.

In two weeks I go for my first PM check by a fac...

pm adjustment

hi all,
I went for a pm review last thursday after near fainting episode. The report showed i had 15000 pvcs in 5 months. i still get them a lot, almost all the time. i know they are harmless but why would they make feel like that? After the interrogation the dr. adjusted the lower rate to 40 from the intial set of 60. he also said the vdd pm implanted was not the right choice for me. the adjustment are not doing any good to me. im confused as im also planning to be pregnant after reading c...

St. Jude PM2210 Response

I saw cardiologist today and learned during a stress test/echo that my pace maker is not elevating heart rate as needed during exertion/exercise. He's reduced bisoprolol to 2.5 mg. 3 times per week and said if I don't feel better in 3-4 weeks, we will call the company to investigate response issues. Help! Has anyone else had a similar problem with this pacemaker? If so, what's the fix? I'm a 67 year old female and a tad unnerved by this situation.

Rate Response

I had my medtronic MRI compatible pacemaker installed mid July 2012 for a diagnosis of sick sinus syndrome. They had my low set at 70 but because I wasn't sleeping they lowered it to 60. I guess they had my rate response feature on until yesterday when they turned it off. I have been complaining to them about extreme fatigue in the afternoons and when they had me walk up and down the hallway my pulse rate was 90 when they turned the rate response feature off to see what happened. They think my...

MODE SWITCH

Hi All,

I have gone back today to find out results of tape monitor. The stupid hospital have sent me the wrong appt, anyway I asked if I could speak to someone as I have been anxious. All the pacemaker nurse could tell me was that the PM checks were all ok, however I had gone into mode switch 9% in a year, hence asking me to wear a monitor. From the montor they have picked up "extra beat" which I assume are from the fast heart rate. I now have to wait for another appt with my cardiolo...

Dilated right heart/moderate TR

Hi folks

Wondered if I could ask for your thoughts?

Got results back from a recent echo with the following summary:

Dilated right heart. Mildly dilated left atrium. Moderate TR. Borderline increased pulmonary artery pressure. Mild MR and PR. Mildly increased aortic and main pulmonary artery forward flow velocities.

My question is, has anyone with a pacemaker had any problems at all with any of the above? I have a VVIR pacemaker. I also have a non prod...

have you ever felt....

crappy after a check-up?

My 6 month check up was Monday afternoon and that evening I felt my heart beating hard. Tuesday morning I awoke at 3 am with my heart racing. Then for the rest of the day, I felt overly tired and spacie. I know the tiredness was due to awaking at 3 but I couldn't find anything to help me wake up!

I felt much better this morning. I just wondered if anyone else had this experience?

I wish you all well tonight!

Atrial tachycardia

Hi I am new to the site and have a daughter who is now twelve and a half and has been paced for over twelve years now. She is on her second pacemaker and it has approximately one year left of battery life. Reason for posting is that at last check the specialist noted a brief episode of atrial tachycardia which the pacemaker detected and dealt with. Unfortunately, I did not ask too much about this in the appointment as my daughter was in the room and I have to be mindful about questions which I...

Hey guys sorry its been a few weeks since I have written. Just trying to hang in there. The pain THANK GOD is gone. I guess because they had to go in twice in one week. Rate response for running

Howdy

Are there any runners out there that know about rate response settings? My MD will only leave it at 4. Will I run better if it's set on 5? Is there any danger if it's set too high?

I ran a lot of marathons before my PM. I think the high altitude running damaged my heart.

Thanks

Hi everyone, hope you're all well. I'm finding it hard to believe that I've already had my little buddy (dual chamber PM) for just over a year now!. It was fitted for abheart block and I've been told It only needs to work 1% of the time.at the moment I'm sloghtly anxious that I haventfelt it for a few weeks. Should I be worried? What do you think. I have a check up coming up on 10th October and am really hoping all's well as i'm due to fly to london on the 14th!! :p thanks
