I hear different opinions on this post. In short can anyone give me a definitive answer on whether or not changing my pm setting to 70 from 60. I asked the setting guy to make the change, just because I thought maybe I would be less tired. I'm only 63. I do not want to needlessly run down my battery. Does it or doesn't it?
Don't feel much different except that I sometimes feel like I'm a little short of breath, or the sensation that I'm not getting a full breath. I also am aware that I have...

I have a PM and have had it a little over a year. It is a Boston Scientific. After a while, I could feel it kicking in and had pain every time.
A Boston Scientific tech checked it along with my EP. They decided to adjust the settings and it worked for a while.
Now, lately, I have what feels like a flutter in my chest. It comes and goes. I can't stand the feeling as it is in my heart.
I had it checked again with the EP and was told it was working fine and I am on...

I am curious if any of you have had your pacemaker settings changed w/out your consent? A cardiologist I was seeing told the pacemaker nurse to lower my daytime heart rate, without discussing it with me at all. I walked around for 2 months feeling like dirt before I found out what happened. They said they were "testing" me to see if I would notice. I didn't appreciate the deceptiveness, and if it had been discussed w/ me, I could have told them I couldn't tolerate a lower heart rate.

Hi
I posted in october about my pm adjustment and dr's opinion that the pm implanted april 2011 was a wrong mode for me. I was implanted with a VDD pacer. The 2nd dr is also of the same opinion. He was said i have a sinus arrest in which the heart pauses for sometime before going back to a normal rythm. I have done again the echo, stress and holter tests which turned out normal structually but with a lot of ventricular and supraventicular premature beats.
My pm was interrogated a...

I have had a PM for 2 years now and am still having issues with it, every setting is good for a few months and then it acts up again.
Recently, it starting pacing on its own, even when I was just relaxing. Luckily it did its dance when I was in for my check up and they saw it all on the screen... I had not been able to explain to the doctor what was happening, but knew it was not normal.
After couple of calls to the company, with no response, and being 4pm, my Cardiologist had left fo...

Took your advice, called in, told to come in this afternoon. Went in, 2+ hour drive, well worth it, low reading was pvcs, sore spot they're not sure did a blood culture, and the EP was hot because I was supposed to have been in there 1st part of Nov. no one called me. He walked in and wanted to know why I missed my appt. I must have looked really surprised. Anyhow it was all good and he tweaked BS and patted my shoulder a couple times and ordered blood tests. When I got home tonight message on...

I have had a st Jude pacemaker for 4 months now. I am 63. It was discovered I needed a pacemaker after I passed out while driving. Today, I had a dizzy spell similar to what I remember before I blacked out. Is getting dizzy today something I should e concerned about? Does this kind of thing occur. Also, for two months, I had my pacemaker set at 60 . I had it reset about a month ago to 70, just because I thought I might have more energy, I think I do. My concern is does a higher setting mean I wi...

I just got my first pacemaker and want to be sure my intrinsic pulse is not going to be compromised. Can anyone direct me to or explain the way pacemakers are set to switch AAI to DDD modes and how it works?

I am on Pacer from 1993. It is 3rd PG now running since 2005. So 7 years after last PG change. My Magnetic rate is still 100. Is is necessary to reprogram my PG every year. During my last PG change the Pulse Rate was fixed to 66/minute. Since I am happy with that & asymptomatic, just save a few beats per minute there by saving a year or so for battery. These reprogramming is done by Company lads. Will they set this at a higher voltage so that battery drain quickly ?
Any have idea ?

In the last few years that I have had my pacemaker, I have noticed that I haven't become rested from my sleep. I sleep 8-9 hours, and yet I still wake up tired and am exhausted by the end of the day. I read online that if you have lucid dreams and can remember them each night, then you are not achieving REM sleep (deep), which actually rests you. I have crazy dreams that I remember every single night. I'm wondering if my pacemaker sleep setting is too high that I am not achieving that REM state....

I have had a pacemaker since October 2008. However in the last 2 weeks I have had several dizzy spells and fainted once... the doctors seem to say nothing is wrong... Do I have to persist and ask for more tests, change the settings?

I had a ST Jude pm fitted in 2008. I have never been happy with it. 2 years ago I was taken into hospital by ambulance after collapsing in my local chemist. They dialed 999. I was kept in for three days then discharged. Last year I was struggling to walk more than a 100 years before having to stop. I insisted they checked me out again. The cardio department had me walking around the hospital, up and down the stairs and on a treadmill. My heart rate was 35 bpm. They got onto St Jude's for advice...

Hi, I had my old Medtronic after 7 years replaced in the UK via the NHS with a Boston.
I am informed on discharge as a day patient that I do not require a check for 12 months from installation. Not even a battery check, is that the norm now for this?

Hi,
I just had a Biotronik Evia DR-T pm installed about 2 weeks ago, I'm a 48 year old male and was running 1/2 marathons prior to this. I had it installed to prevent Syncope, I had my first episode about 1 month ago, then 2 weeks ago while performing a stress test I got off the treadmill and felt light headed and was out for 30 seconds. When I came to within about 4 minutes, the head of cardiology mentioned that I should have a pace maker installed, what a shock this was!
Anyway...

Hi, am new to this site. I am a 58 year old female. Last year I had aortic valve replacement surgery, aortic repair, developed a blood clot , then had pacemaker installed all within 2 weeks. The pacemaker has been an emotional battle for me because I was not prepared for it, I am thin and it sticks out of the skin which is uncomfortable. I am not an athlete by any means but I do exercise almost daily and when its nice outside I like to take leisure bike rides. I started out with the normal...
