Sleeping

In the last few years that I have had my pacemaker, I have noticed that I haven't become rested from my sleep. I sleep 8-9 hours, and yet I still wake up tired and am exhausted by the end of the day. I read online that if you have lucid dreams and can remember them each night, then you are not achieving REM sleep (deep), which actually rests you. I have crazy dreams that I remember every single night. I'm wondering if my pacemaker sleep setting is too high that I am not achieving that REM state. Has anyone else had this issue? It is not waking me up, just not letting me feel rested.

Low Oxygen

lrwhite87, I was (am) going through the same thing. I was getting enough sleep time-wise, but was exhausted. Really, really exhausted. My cardiologist ordered a sleep study and they found my oxygen is dangerously low at night. Right now I am trying an oxygen concentrator and I am starting to gain some energy during the day (it's only been about 10 days).
Before the low oxygen was diagnosed, my sleep doctor did tell me how sleep apnea works and how you wake a lot during the night but not long enough for you to be consciously aware. It tires you out and puts a strain on your heart.

Thanks for the comment. I wasn't sure that it was considered apnea since I am sleeping, I am just not feeling rested.

There is a high incident of sleep apnea among cardiac patients. If you're not getting rested, get a sleep study to see what's going on.

It may not be apnea, that was just a guess on my part, but a sleep study will tell you if it's that or something else. Thinking you are sleeping well but not feeling rested is a symptom of it. It's dangerous so if there is a chance you have it, you want to find out for sure.
